Okay here it is. The following are various changes we’re going to implement in the next closed beta weekend based on the various feedback and bugs we saw.
Interface & Matchmaking
Better user flow in matchmaking menus
More information. To be honest, there wasn’t really much before 😛
You’ll be able to see avatar names on top of their heads, so you should know who’s on your boat and if they’re AI or not.
Our 1st closed beta weekend has officially ended! Thank you to everyone who was able to partake. There were a lot of things that were broken, not up to our standards, needs fixing, but we hope that everyone had at least some fun and are excited to play your 2 additional weekends in the future. Hopefully we didn’t scare you all off 🙂
We’re pretty sure that we didn’t because many of you did a great job in sending us all the necessary information we need to make the game better. To all of you who spent the additional time to chat with our developers, (Birdimus-Brian, awkm-Eric, Jormungandr-Alex, SpaceMuffin-George, con-Conrad, Clara-Jess) and write bug reports for us, thank you very very much! This is how we improve the game, by having supporters like y’all to spot things that we missed.
We’re currently holding many meetings today (MEETING MONDAY) to prioritize, discuss, and analyze the various bug reports, suggestions, and pieces of feedback that cropped up this weekend. We have a lot ahead of us before the 2nd closed beta weekend so that’ll be all for now 🙂
Here’s some info about what this week’s build has (and does not have)! We’re currently testing the build that’s on Steam right now to make sure it doesn’t burst into flames. Keys will be sent in the coming hours.
Servers go up Friday April 27th 12pm and go back down on Sunday April 29th at 11:50pm.
Sorry, Mac builds are currently broken. We had them working yesterday and they decided to die on us today.
Hey everyone, neighborhood friendly game designer here letting you know that we have another video for your consumption! We’ve decided to do some very casual videos to explain the mechanics behind our game. You know, because everyone likes to delve into the inner workings of the game instead of looking at eye candy (although eye candy is also very nice 😀 ). That’s it! Look out for the Engineer video later this week.
The time has come to reveal to you all what our exact plans for closed beta are. We’ve already told you the basic set up is with the weekends and slow roll-in of players. Now I’d like to talk about how we’ll be selecting players, the exact dates, bug reporting, and other measures that we’ll need to do in order to make this a successful beta test.
Of course, I’m going to miss some things but I’ll make more posts when we realize something was glossed over.
This information is subject to change, but at this point in time we don’t foresee any major issues coming up. However, our OSX issues still haven’t been resolved… hopefully we’ll see a resolution with Steam in the coming week.
This is a pretty important post here. I’m going to summarize the major points for closed-beta testing. So y’all who backed us on Kickstarter and won closed-beta keys during PAX East, listen closely! HEY!
We’ll be going into closed-beta in approximately two weeks. This pushes us to the end of April when things get serious. We know that we said we’d be doing this in March and we apologize. Delays, unfortunately, happen from time to time and we drew the short stick. It is what it is.
Anyway, there are some of the tasty bits. It’s a long read so here’s a song (after the break) that should get you through it: Continue reading “Closed-Beta Summary”
Phewww! That was a long weekend! But it was well worth it. We saw a ton of you at PAX East as well as many more. We talked to fans, developers, journalists, and those who didn’t even know what Guns of Icarus Online was. Hopefully we’ve made you new fans!
We have a few important clarifications to make—a somewhat serious business post. We’ve used some loose language regarding the game like PvP and Campaign, which has led to some minor confusion at times. So here are the official titles and explanations for the two game modes in Guns of Icarus Online.
Hey everyone, time for another update! We’ve got some big news, actually from within the past 24 hours really. Guess what? We finally have a Steam App ID! Wait, what does this even mean? This means we can now fully begin Steam integration of our closed beta testing. You heard us. With all the proper information from Valve, we now go full steam ahead with getting things ready for our dedicated players (pun very much intended).
