Prove your skill in The Cogs!

Who will earn the top cog?

We’re calling all experienced crews who want to prove they’re the greatest to join our weekly scrimmage: The Cogs.   We want to see the best of the best throw it all on the line in a single match on a map randomly drawn by a referee.

We’ll separate teams into three cogs: champion, challenger, and upcomer.  Every Saturday at 4 pm the designated teams will fight trying to defend their position or move up in the world. Any team that doesn’t show up for their game will automatically forfeit their position. Teams not fighting will be designated bounties for the week for any hunters who can find them.  The size of the cogs will be adjusted depending on how many sign ups we receive.

The sign up for teams is here. Feel free to bring in ringers or random people online onto your ship the day of.  As long as you have someone to press ready for your team when you’re designated to fight you don’t have a problem.

Here’s an invitation you to show off how and why you fly!  We are looking for videos in which you talk about your favorite tactics, loadouts, and moments in Guns of Icarus Online, as well as show off how you and your crew fly in real matches. With your submissions, we will be creating a short documentary for the world to see!

We are looking for 2 videos – a short interview and a gameplay footage montage.

The following post was written by Howard, aka Bubbles, CEO of Muse Games.

With this upcoming build, we are focusing on a few new features—improved tutorial elements, AFK detection, and commendation system—to help players learn and play better together.  While our motivation is as always based on your feedback, we just want to go over how these features work and how we arrived at the decisions we made.

Let there be light. Well, some.

We love you guys. We are the forgiving kind.
We love you guys. We are the forgiving kind.

We’ll be writing quite a few posts regarding some coming changes.  Lots of fun stuff in store.  One of the big items is a balance change.  Medium Flak, Field Gun, Explosive vs. Armor, Fire, other weapons.  There are a lot of things going on.  However, what I’d like to talk about is our stance on design changes and basically how we go about creating the game.  Well, this is more of my own approach.

This was all sparked by a forum on our forum.  Click after the jump to read on…

Claiming the Fjords: tournament recap

gentlemenfinal
We’ve heard rumors they hold their little finger out when they destroy you

The Fjords have been claimed by the Gentlemen!
Congratulations not only to the Gentlemen, but also their stiff competition.  We had many great contenders: Zill’s Merry Men took home second, The Paddling third, and SMAC fourth.

If you have four hours to spare and missed the tournament you should watch QWERTY’s stream where you can see some of the best crews in the game facing off against each other. We’ll be posting some of the highlights later on in the week so keep your eyes peeled.
