The following post was written by Howard, aka Bubbles, CEO of Muse Games.

Here’s an invitation you to show off how and why you fly!  We are looking for videos in which you talk about your favorite tactics, loadouts, and moments in Guns of Icarus Online, as well as show off how you and your crew fly in real matches. With your submissions, we will be creating a short documentary for the world to see!

We are looking for 2 videos – a short interview and a gameplay footage montage.

The following post was written by Howard, aka Bubbles, CEO of Muse Games.

With this upcoming build, we are focusing on a few new features—improved tutorial elements, AFK detection, and commendation system—to help players learn and play better together.  While our motivation is as always based on your feedback, we just want to go over how these features work and how we arrived at the decisions we made.

Let there be light. Well, some.

We love you guys. We are the forgiving kind.
We love you guys. We are the forgiving kind.

We’ll be writing quite a few posts regarding some coming changes.  Lots of fun stuff in store.  One of the big items is a balance change.  Medium Flak, Field Gun, Explosive vs. Armor, Fire, other weapons.  There are a lot of things going on.  However, what I’d like to talk about is our stance on design changes and basically how we go about creating the game.  Well, this is more of my own approach.

This was all sparked by a forum on our forum.  Click after the jump to read on…

Claiming the Fjords: tournament recap

gentlemenfinal
We’ve heard rumors they hold their little finger out when they destroy you

The Fjords have been claimed by the Gentlemen!
Congratulations not only to the Gentlemen, but also their stiff competition.  We had many great contenders: Zill’s Merry Men took home second, The Paddling third, and SMAC fourth.

If you have four hours to spare and missed the tournament you should watch QWERTY’s stream where you can see some of the best crews in the game facing off against each other. We’ll be posting some of the highlights later on in the week so keep your eyes peeled.

Facebook Drive

Do not operate under the effects of moonshine

Hey everybody! We’re doing a drive to reach 10,000 Facebook Likes and 2,000 Steam recommendations. We’d love your support in sharing Guns of Icarus with your friends and letting everyone know what you like about Guns of Icarus on Steam, and we’re not above bribing you!

Every time we hit a 1,000 Like milestone on Facebook we’ll give out a free costume to 10 random players, and every time we hit a 100 recommendation milestone on Steam we’ll give out 10 goggles or hair.

We’re really close to 7,000 Likes and that means we’re really close to giving out 10 costumes to our players. Currently we’re at 1,113 Steam recommendations so if we get 87 more we’ll give out 10 goggles and hair.

When we hit our goal of 10,000 likes, one lucky person who has Liked our page since we started this event will receive 8 copies of the game to share with friends so they can be an admiral of their own fleet! If you’ve already Liked our page, invite your friends to Like Guns of Icarus Online and they might win a copy to share with you!

Let loose the bounties of war

Roy temp
The man who makes bounty hunters quake in fear

Season 4 starts Monday the fourteenth.  Before I talk about the fabulous prizes we’ll be offering for the gallant hunters and their criminal counterparts, a shout out to the victors of season 3.

Rex Hamilton and Pinkamena Diane Pie tied for top bounty hunter with 70 points each and Captain Roy was the most dangerous bounty with 52 wins.  There were over 45 bounties claimed and over 200 times bounties defeated their hunters.

Season 4’s top bounty hunter will win their choice between the Male Top Hat and the Female Plumed Tricorn and the most dangerous bounty will win their choice of the female Bandit Mask or the male Gas Mask.

Store sale over and balance update

Warning: Math incoming

The sale is over and we’d like to thank everyone for supporting Guns of Icarus.  Fun fact there are now 248 players sporting a top hat.

We also patched to squash a bug and fix the Lumberjack.  There was a crash at start up bug that some players ran into that has been fixed.

To maintain the Hellhound Heavy Twin Carronade’s effective at destroying balloons at close range, we’ve implemented something called arming time that has been added to the Lumberjack.  The Lumberjack will only deal its direct hit damage (shatter) if it hits something before its arming time is reached.  Once arming time has been reached, it will deal both is direct hit and AoE (flechette) damages and thus deal massive damage to the balloon.

Math after the jump…
