Feedback and Suggestions / Re: We need more badass titles.
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:33:22 pm »
Aeronaut is possibly the best title for a pilot.
I like "Master Aeronaut", "Aeronautical Genius", and "Legendary Aeronaut" for the titles above it.

Yeah, to be honest I probably dished that one out too early. Actually, I kind of wish I hadn't used it as a title at all -- "aeronaut" is supposed to be a general term to describe everyone who crews an airship, like a sailor, not necessarily a pilot (and a middling one, at that). Oh, well.

Question: What exactly did the costume pack unlock? Captain's costume pack for skirmish appears to have unlocked 1 (random?) costume for each class.

Is this independent of my KS tier [Complete Adventure (Early Bird)] reward of costume, goggles, and hat for all three classes? I'll be getting that once Adventure Mode comes out?

Captain's costume pack is 6 costumes (not random), one for each class and gender. This is indeed separate from your costume sets, which will be your choice of items. We'll be sending a different survey for you to pick these items soon.

For the many of us who own Skirmish mode, can we give our Skirmish Mode Game Key(s) to other people who have the game. I also may give my costume pack to another person if I already own most of the outfits. I am going to keep the Dustrider outfits, they are mine! Just want to confirm that separate steam accounts can use codes from the same email.

Yep, you can give your keys away to anyone you like. They're not tied to your account.

The language filter was designed so users could adjust the filtering level or shut it off entirely. Unfortunately, we never got to implement that feature, so we ended up shipping with the one-size-fits-all filter, and the client-side options kept getting pushed to the backburner. We're working on chat systems in general right now, though, and working to get this bumped up in priority. So we hope to have it in soon.

Just as a quick note, Muse does intend to do more kick starters for each phase of AM to get it properly funded

Actually, we never said that. We've said we'll have to seek out additional funding to get to our $500,000 target, but we don't intend to make anyone who's already Kickstarted Adventure Mode have to pitch in for another campaign. Everyone who's backed us for Adventure Mode is entitled to receive everything we release towards Adventure Mode using the "season pass" model, and we're not going to Kickstart each pillar separately now.

We'll continue raising funds through other avenues, like the PayPal store that will remain active after the Kickstarter campaign.

That map is a lie. We probably shouldn't have published it. But oh well!

Sadly, as we have so often observed, money and politics are inseparable.

I kinda figured the sunshine bridge would be the conflict point.  Its why I centered my speculative second opening for Desert Asp at that point.

Tim, I've just had an interesting conversation with Gomidog, our resident Japanese translator. I was translating Hikagebashi as "Shadow Bridge," so I was surprised to hear you referring to it as "Sunshine Bridge." She clarified that it's more literally "Sun-Shadow Bridge," as in "shade from the sun," so there's definitely a bit of dark/light duality there. Veeery interesting.

This also led to the possible alternative translation "Shady Bridge," which we agreed sounds like a retirement home for old airship captains.

I'll keep checking and listing possible sources and adding to the contents, so there'll be something to talk about once the subforum is (hopefully) up!

Kyren, your secret workshop is open. Have at it!

Gameplay / Re: Achievement system flaw
« on: May 20, 2013, 11:28:06 am »
Also, as far as achievements go, although I've finished most of mine already, the pilot defend achievements are really confusing.  Not sure they're functioning as they're meant to.  Currently "defend" means to neutralize a point held by the enemy.  This doesn't seem to make much sense.

Since all of the defend achievements are for Galleons and Junkers, one would naturally assume "defend" means to block the neutralization of a point your team already controls.

Jess, what are your thoughts on this?

My understanding is that it what it means (prevent a contest). There seems to be a ton of confusion about it, though, so I should make sure. I'll get back to you.

Also, just repeating it here to clear up the misconception: the Guild and the League are not behind the Nalm—Sylka war in Battle on the Dunes, Eric misspoke in the video. That fight is between two independent towns. The main conflict between the Guild and the League at this point is the little Caidos—Hikagebashi dustup, which I might tell you about someday. :)

They don't hate the Guild that much. Arashi and the Guild are involved in a few, relatively recent skirmishes, but they're not sworn enemies. I know our update might have given that impression, but it was one incident, almost a historical footnote, that happened to get mentioned and featured prominently. Relations may certainly continue to devolve in the future, but they don't have a ton of history of bad blood yet.

We probably would have said something by now if Eric wasn't on vacation and all the programmers weren't frantically fixing stuff. Don't worry, we aren't ignoring this -- we'll discuss and get back to you.

General Discussion / Re: Becoming an E-Sport
« on: May 17, 2013, 04:46:27 pm »
This game can only become an E-Sport if there will be clan support and a clan matchmaking system.

Official clan support is also coming in the next patch. I do not know what it will comprise of other than clan tags.

Just the tags, for now. I should clarify that all of these "coming in the next patch" features are coming in the next feature patch...server and performance concerns have pushed back our feature development a bit, and the next patch will probably be exclusively fixes and optimization. But clan tags are in the mix for the next feature update.
