Make the sextant a usable tool for feet-dry nav. It's not basic landnav--it all looks the same from the sky. Many are the pilots in the real world who have failed checkrides or worse because they did map-based navigation from an aircraft. Celestial nav is still actually a thing in American military aircraft today. Refer to the game I mentioned for the NES (Pirates of the Spanish Main, or just Pirates!) for a general idea. It's completely intuitive--I didn't have the instruction manual or any idea of what I was doing and I figured it out in a minute.
It does require the inclusion of maps, however.
