Little question, have all physical rewards been sent out already? I remember a KS update about it way back in June but haven't received anything (physical) yet.

Keep up the good work :)

This was actually asked during the Dev Fireside chat, apparently some of the lower tier stuff has been sent out, the rest going to be done in the next couple of months.

Ah, I missed that. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't know if this is mentioned before or planned, but just building a large relatively bland, blank landscape that you can allow players to edit and build environments in so that it allows a large playing area for those who want free roam open world style gameplay and lighten the load on yourselves. Maybe monitor submissions and newly made areas/base/cities/landscapes so that no terrible crap is made.

I'd like to see hub cities/towns, they dont have to be complex just a few buildings/vendors and other interactive things, also a really simple ground game mode in these cities/towns where say you do missions like having to steal things from a building and smuggle them onto your ship.
other players may be trying to stop you getting it onto your ship so you can transport it, but every character gets a handgun/musket which is really effective but only used sparingly as it may have only 5 bullets or something, but the fighting is one hit kills like Red Orchestra. but then you can run away from pirates in town and make a daring escape.

This man speaks gold, I've seen player developed map design in it's fullest flourish in my earlier days, to iterate:

I used to do alot of RP on private WoW servers, and we would use the tools to take existing areas, even flat andu nused landscapes to completely built up towns, capitals, towers, villages, anything your heart desired. It was glorious, I've seen some amazing landscapes being made that way. If there was a pair of MUSE along with a board of CA's to take care of selecting good and bad submisisons, this would put the burden of open-world map making on larger shoulders, so to speak.

I can however see alot of problems with it, instead of having everything secluded to the team itself, who works internally and actively (I assume) in NY, there'd be a larger team, independent of state or nation, with less ability to communicate simply by raising your voice and going: "HEY, DO WE WANT LAZER GUNS HOWARD?". It also completely ruins the current teams' duties: Instead of creating it on their own, they would have to shift their values to judging and overseeing submissions.

Another thing would be submissions, it requires that people actually want to go in and do something actively. For larger games and populations, like the Steam Workshop fanatics, it's a great idea. Simply because they have so many people playing and developing, thinking it realisticly with GoIO. We don't really have the worlds' greatest population, and putting another job on whoever would get that "Overseer" task is just stressing out a tough development even more.

Finally: the tool itself, unless the team put alot of effort into making an easily accesible and useful tool for dummies like me to use, only a very select few would be able to understand and work with it. I don't know much about programming and graphics' designs, but I do know that you have to spend a while to understand what you work with. Making the tool would either be too time-consuming, and just giving what they work with would be too complicated.

I love the idea, I really do, but it may be abit out of hand. Who knows, maybe it isn't as hard as I predict, and we'll all be map-making monkeys within a month.

Hello, I saw some discution about travel between cities and had some thoughts. I get that open world travelling is impossible with the level of graphics and details the skirmish battles have. On the other hand, with instanced travel as the only form available, I don't see a solo trader working on a known route cause it will always be camped.

Why not try to implement a mixed system, like final fantasy's? Pirates of the burning seas has done it. Imagine if you could fly around the world in a top view of the map with a smaller less detailed representation of your ship. When you face an npc or a player on the map and are unable to outrun or hide from him you go to skirmish mode's instanced map generated based on the specific terrain/location you were on the map.

The routes would still exist. The same distance in an instanced route would take half the time that on the map's open travel ( more or less depending on balancing). If you feel safe (when in a strong group or escorted) you take the instanced route and complete missions faster. If you want to avoid encounters or be able to pick your fights with the easier targets you take your time in the map travel.

You could have skills or equipments to enhance stealth on the map or to improve you chance and distance on which you spot other ships. That way a pirate might camp a  hiden spot on the map from where he can see the ships going through a determined route and chose his target for an ambush (choosing if,where and when he enters the instanced route). That would make the task of hunting pirates, escorting convoys and trading that much interesting.

Hi guys,

I just discovered the game (40 hours played though) and I'd like to know if it's still possible to get the offers from the Kickstarter project.

Although it's no more active, i wish i could offer my crew (best crew ever btw) a 90$( and not just 4 paypal donations :'( ) pack so we can conquer the world with the proper costumes

the 90$ pack :

Captain & Crew ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 4x Adventure Mode + 4x Collector's Edition Skirmish + 4x Kickstarter Exclusive Dust Rider 1.0 Costume + 4x Kickstarter Exclusive Dust Rider 2.0 Costume

Regards

Sorry to necro this post but I had an idea for Adventure Mode and followed a link here to post that idea...

Many of our community enjoy spending time together ingame out side of the thrill of combat! Sitting in crew formations or custom lobbies or just in the main screen lobby, for adventure mode I'd like to see somewhere people can interact while in-game! Something like a match type which puts people into a tavern or some such environment where we can talk and run about, maybe even add mini-games for example a chess board to play chess, poker table to play poker etc etc, this would also greatly benefit the roleplay community with a place they can play their roles without being on a ship every time.

I imagine if it came to existence one of a few things, perhaps a simple as a room to represent a cabin on a ship and just fit four peoples avatars inside with a table and chairs. Perhaps a small tavern with a bar, an NPC bartender cleaning the bar and enough room for 16people, large enough to hold small events, add the minigames and perhaps even tournaments.
Any bigger (which I do not believe would be needed.) and imagine a large ale house with many tables, something closer to a large hub where a large number of 32 people could fit inside.

I also think something like this would be much better over something such as a guild house as it stays open for use by people not in clans, and guild houses are rarely used by anyone outside a guild, thus splitting the community, much better the option for a neutral communal area not tied to guilds.

So to sum up, I want a pub I can sit in and chill out with my friends during the breaks between matches with the ability to play as my avatar! Camping Global chat will never have been as cool as it would with this.

Not mentioning battleships as an activity. Tho maybe for copyright reasons, a 3D version as opposed to the normal coordinate based game.

As for this hub world feature, thats alot of bandwidth wasted on nothing.

It's not as much bandwidth as you assume, and not wasted if it's keeping people in game looking at store items, telling their friends.

I know for a fact the Roleplay would boost as would the Roleplay community.

As long as the bar is the Burning Skies, I'm down.

A fun idea! Maybe the starter of the Burning Skies could help interior decorate ;)

When RP players have to get their hand held to RP, its the beginning of the end.

I have to say: If somehow the elements that allow RP to flourish and sustain itself in the game are done well enough, RP will keep the game running for a long long long long long long time, and bring a lot of people over.

Very true words my friend!
