The Docks / [Bmbl] Team Bumble
« on: April 17, 2016, 06:18:12 pm »
Team Bumble

Who we are:
Team Bumble is a collaborative 1-ship team made up of Storm Ryders & Cult of Keijo clan players.

What we do:
As the first point suggests we are a non-clan group focused on quality and high-stakes gameplay, we function as a single ship team and coordinate with like-minded teams for high-strategy air combat.

Why we do it:
Many clans and teams alike have a different purpose & function for their place in our community. Team Bumble's aim is to challenge itself and established players & teams through collaboration & teamwork (given events or private matches). We thrive on creativity and fluid gameplay that helps us excel at engagements. That said, this team will only make its debut during certain events permitting and private games (though you might see us floating about in informal public matches.)

Interested in private matches?
Just contact myself, Ayetach, to inquire about a private match collaboration and we'll consider plans & details for any such arrangement. Our willingness to participate in any collaborations is solely based on our teams unanimous agreement to do so. This collaboration will be in conjunction with other 1-ship teams to form a suitable 2v2 lobby.

Hi guys,

For our unblind testing, here is the change log for this week's changes for balances on ships weapons, and ammo. Be sure to join us at 12pm Eastern time (5pm UTC) for testing and let us know what you think at feedback@musegames.com. Thanks!

Balance Changes:
  • Mobula bottom guns fanned out 10 degrees, top guns fanned out 5 degrees—to increase the difficulty of full weapon’s platform functionality without disallowing common builds.
  • Spire reduced turn acceleration to 10d/s2 (from 15), reduced top turn speed to 8d/s from 12—to make it easier for other ships to flank the Spire.
  • Squid back gun turn inwards (towards right side of ship) 40 degrees from 0—to make it easier for less experienced players to use the Squid in normal play.
  • Squid increased forward/backward acceleration to 8m/s2 (from 6.66)—to make it easier for the Squid to change position and react effectively in close range combat.
  • Heavy Flak has more damage moved to direct hit for a 70/30% split between direct and AoE (from 45/55%). Higher clip capacity to 4 (from 2) means damage per shot is reduced (115/50 explosive, from 150/180 explosive), BUT damage per second is the SAME due to increased RoF of 2 shots/s (from 0.8), and reduced reload time of 4.5s (from 5), reduced camera shake—to increase ease of use in both range (more damage in direct for within arming distance shots) and aiming (more shots to judge arc before reload.)
  • Lochnagar Shot reduced clip size reduction to -60% from reduction to 1 shot, reduced damage increase from 62.5% from 125%, reduced rotation speed reduction to -70% from -90%, changed damage to gun model so that is deals proportional damage per shot until gun is destroyed e.g. if gun has 2 shots then each shot deals 50% damage vs a gun that has 4 shots were each shot deals 25% damage—to ensure that Lochnagar has use cases after Heavy Flak changes.
  • Harpoon has right click to reel in with increased harpoon force to 1500000 (from 230000)—major feature request.
  • Hwacha reduced projectile speed to 250m/s from 400m/s, decreased camera shake—to give receiving players more time to react to Hwacha volley.
  • Pyramidon hull health increased to 700 (from 550), mass increased to 300000 from 200000 while preserving all other steering characteristics—you said you missed ramming, right?  Also affected less by Minotaur and other physics related systems due to increased mass.

Dev App Testing / Sunday testing release notes.
« on: February 27, 2016, 02:02:50 pm »
Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay here's the release notes for our non-blind testing tomorrow at 12pm EST (5pm UTC).

Balance Changes:
-Mobula side guns fanned outwards 5 additional degrees—to increase the difficulty of full weapon’s platform functionality without disallowing common builds

-Spire reduced turn acceleration to 10d/s2 (from 15)—to make it easier for other ships to flank the Spire

-Squid side gun turned forward to 70 degrees (from 90)—to make it easier for less experienced players to use the Squid in normal play

-Squid increased forward/backward acceleration to 8m/s2 (from 6.66)—to make it easier for the Squid to change position and react effectively in close range combat

-Heavy Flak has more damage moved to direct hit for a 70/30% split between direct and AoE (from 45/55%). Higher clip capacity to 4 (from 2) means damage per shot is reduced (115/50 explosive, from 150/180 explosive), BUT damage per second is the SAME due to increased RoF of 2 shots/s (from 0.8), and reduced reload time of 4.5s (from 5)—to increase ease of use in both range (more damage in direct for within arming distance shots) and aiming (more shots to judge arc before reload)

-Harpoon has right click to reel in with increased harpoon force to 1500000 (from 230000)—major feature request

-Hwacha now fires its entire clip with one click—to increase risk reward of the weapon and to reduce its overall reliance in matches

-Pyramidon hull health increased to 700 (from 550)

-Falling airships now respect each airship’s unique vertical drag profiles.  Previously, ships all had a ‘controlled’ fall rather than accelerating due to gravity.  The result is realistic falling acceleration that takes into airship vertical drag.  In other words, you were closer to playing Guns of Icarus in Space than you realized.—fixed glitch that possibly introduces more interesting ways to play and shift meta

Be sure to let us know what you think after tomorrow's testing at feedback@musegames.com

Thanks again for your help and support!

News and Announcements / Looking for Wiki contributors!
« on: December 15, 2015, 02:44:53 pm »
Quote
Hello fellow Guns of Icarus enthusiasts!

Guns of Icarus Online is known as a game with a steep learning curve, and imposes very strict demands of knowledge and gameplay on new players. In order to help new players in finding their way around the game as they delve deeper into it, we took it upon ourselves to expand and improve the wiki to reach new heights.

The wiki has grown, evolved, and improved tremendously since we started working on it a year ago - and we would like to continue doing so for more time to come.

Unfortunately, the current size of our editing team does not allow us to consistently and efficiently get the job done on our own.

We are looking for new contributors with extensive game knowledge and willingness to help our existing contributors with spelling, grammar, and sentence structuring - due to the fact that our team primarily consists of non-native English speakers.

See you there!

~Wiki Team

General Discussion / Gush
« on: November 17, 2015, 10:50:17 am »
Ohai guys!

I have been hopping on several pub matches keeping a pulse on things with all of you lately and I've been seeing lots of awesome lobbies with experienced players helping out the new guys (and gals).

This, guys, made me want to gush so hard in this post at how awesome the patience and willingness many of you have for passing on your wisdom and I salute all of you for your incredible efforts in the community! And despite events going on to promote this I'm still really pleased at these efforts! You make us proud, keep up the good work!

That's all I wanted to say, clear skies!

Community Events / Mini-Game Madness!
« on: November 16, 2015, 03:53:26 pm »

Greetings fellow aviators, engineers, and powder monkeys near and far.

Since participating in the TimmyB Tournament in 2014, I've felt inspired by the formulation of unique challenges and overcoming them quite irresistible. I wanted to expand on that a bit more by introducing the 'Mini-Game Madness'. Basically a 3v3 private lobby is formed with invited players who participate with their crews and a referee (myself) who presides over the match (based on the level of participation the lobby can be adjusted for size).

The referee will offer each captain:

  • The choice of selecting their ship at the expense of all their gun slots being randomly selected, or...
  • Choose to have the ship randomly selected and be offered one gun selection and its placement of choosing before the randomizer selects the remaining gun slots.

Crew and captain loadouts are unaffected by this and can be setup at the crews leisure.

The idea is to have fun with unusual and challenging builds, I love creative efforts by crews to over come them and I'm not looking for a very complex capacity of gameplay beyond that. This setup can be used for King of the Hill, Crazy King, and Death matches.

If this is something that would intrigue you and your crew, simply show up in the following time listed below (there will also be announcements on the start screen and community event banner.)

Clear skies to you all!  :D

General Discussion / What do you name your ships and why?
« on: April 09, 2015, 04:26:37 pm »
Hello forumites!

I've seen some pretty zany names on GoIO and on occasion inquire about their history. Here are mine:

In the beginning I started off with Nordic Mythological creatures and some of the ship names evolved over time for various reasons, I also originally had the call sign KNM which means Konglige Norsk Marine which essentially means 'Royal Norwegian Navy' as I am Norwegian after all :P - but later I renamed that to KTN which is the call sign for kTen subclan and pays tribute to its history as a group through the games I play today :)

Squid - KTN Fenrir
History: Fenrir is a nordic mythological creature (the wolf) and it felt fitting for something that ruthlessly attacks its prey as a ship like this.

Mobula - KTN Jormungandr
History: The great snake Jormungandr from Norse mythology, its an awesome name, an awesome creature and was admittingly the leftover name I had for this ship.

Pyra - KTN IKEA
History: Came with an assembling kit and everything :P Pretty self explanatory.

Galleon - KTN Valkyrje
History: Valkyrje, nordic angels that raise the dead from the battles fought by Viking warriors. Galleons just have that Goliath aura fitting for itself - esp since its a superb support ship.

Spire - KTN Yggdrasil
History: Yggdrasil is the tree that holds the world of many beings together in Norse mythology. This ship reminded me of a great tree (of death more like XD) it was previously called 'lollipop' in Norwegian as well.

Junker - KTN Hrimthurs Boreas
History: Back when triple art junkers was a thing, I felt Hrimthurs was a fitting name since it was the name of trolls who froze their victims into stone (paralysis much the same to victims of arti junkers), the Boreas was greek term for winds (from a discussion I had with MysteriousMedic in finding Ryder related names for ships).

Goldfish - KTN Onomatopoetikon
History: This was a fun one, Onomonopia, the origins came out from Heldigris and I talking about ship names during Team Lazy's participation in SCS a ways back.

So what are your ship names and history behind them? Share your stories below!

Community Events / VIP Events: Looking for Volunteer Casters
« on: March 31, 2015, 06:34:29 pm »
Greetings forumites :)

I am making a posting on behalf of the VIP game mode organizers to seek any and all willing streamers interested in participating in these events that go on every Friday between 21.00-23.00 (9-11pm) EDT (UTC -5). There is no obligation to participate for any certain amount of time - it can be loosely organized for a few stints if that is your interest. This is simply canvasing available volunteers interested in offering their casting.

Benefits will include your stream being linked to the event banner the night of your cast and even the potential to play along in the matches (as some casters have done before), orthodox or not we're entertaining the response for any interested individuals.

Contact KitKatKitty in-game or PM her in the forums for more details and provide info of your interest or any queries below in this thread.

Clears skies,
Ayetach
