Startrek style exploding crew positions. When a component is destroyed any one standing next to it is throw to the deck where they are unable to move and get to watch the rest of the match sitting in a slowly expanding red puddle.

Well...in truth...it's more of if anything hits your ship, a random component will explode unrelated to the area effected by said blast, and THEN you would be on the ground if you were next to said component.

And your red shirt would then be more red.

Combine the two mechanics Muse refuses to implement boarding and kicking into one: The man cannon - kick some one off your crew by shooting them over to an enemy ship. Tired of that powder monkey missing all his shots with the main gun? Stuff him in the man cannon and blast him over to the other side. He can cause another captain headaches with his constant whining and inability to follow the simplest of instructions.

Parts of the ship break off as you take damage, making you jump of holes in the deck to move around.

Indeed, that would be amazing having the ship fall apart around you as you took damage.

The best "suggestions" here are ones that SOUND like they could be real suggestions except for all the terrible things that would come with it, like the captain installing falling through the floor of the helm, taking forever to respawn, and then being unable to steer the ship.  People gaming the system by remembering where exactly the ship breaks apart, or if Muse managed to procedurally generate the sizes and locations of these holes there's issues of appearance, balance (all the holes blocked off access to the hull), et cetera.

And of course dumb shit people suggest for any game without thinking, like nukes or AK47's or sky whales.

Guns of Icarus reality mod

PCCs and PCIs prior to liftoff, weapons maintenance, weaponry jams, gunners have to BZO direct/indirect weapons systems, the Lumberjack can fire to the other side of the map and must be dialed in to an eight digit grid, danger close ranges are in effect, all weapons can injure crew, balloons get torn all the time by literally everything, and smacking the engine with a wrench does approximately dick to help your situation.
