I hope I'm not too late to do this, I'm really looking forward to playing with the Mobula and the mine layer.

I want to be part of this

The meta in 1.3, predicted by N-Sunderland:

Pyramidion:

Upper left mortar
Upper right gatling
Left deck flare
Left back mine launcher

Top right gunner (heavy/greased/whatever)
Top left engi (lesmok, wrench/buff/extinguisher)

Watch it come true.

Try spamming F5. It'll get your hopes up when a new post is left, and bring them crashing back down when you read it and it has nothing to do with the update.

I don't think the gunner is quite there yet but that is my pyra build.

I don't think the maths quite favors a gunner vs a buffing engineer, but its far less of a no brainer now.

Well, if you think of the crew as a four piece band.. the gunner does kind of fall into the "drummer" category..

The gunner does tap into simplicity rather often, whereas a buff engineer does mass calculations and runs around with his head cut off for "extra" damage. You have fun with that.

I think you're specifically referring to a "good buffing engineer", rather than the achievement-chasing-swabbies-with-buff-hammers that plague daytime matches.

And why is it that it's now the fashion for a lot of engineers to carry a buff hammer but no extinguisher all of a sudden?  I'm losing track of the number of times in the last week or too I've found myself without an extinguisher on the ship, just lots of buffing hammers.  I've even had a couple of gunners calling for gun repairs because they've brought a buff hammer instead of a wrench..

Gunners can't afford to buff, so that's a no-no.

When I ask for a buffer, a lot of my engies ask if I want fire fighting or not. In very rare and specific circumstances would I ever want a spanner/mallet/buff engie. In random matches, i'd say they are looking for achievements rather than trying to be most efficient. Now if they ask beforehand, then they are genuine of course.
