Title: Come test the new build!
Post by: Keyvias on June 28, 2013, 06:27:19 am: We're putting some of the finishing touches on the newest build, but it we know it needs to be live fire tested.
If you're interested here's what I need you to do

All you need to do is join the steam group:

Rumored and hinted at but never revealed to the world.

Can someone confirm this? Pretty sure they've been saying mine launcher by the end of the month every month since February.

The ship loadout screen was, as far as I could tell, identical to 1.2. The attribute graph was still a numberless graph.

This workaround will take the form of Steam Keys, much like any other game. The keys will be distributed to those in the Steam group, and that would be the safest bet to getting in on the testing.

EDIT: my browser crashed halfway through typing this, but for some reason it also submitted it. Odd, but hilarious.

I don't think the maths quite favors a gunner vs a buffing engineer, but its far less of a no brainer now.

And why is it that it's now the fashion for a lot of engineers to carry a buff hammer but no extinguisher all of a sudden? I'm losing track of the number of times in the last week or too I've found myself without an extinguisher on the ship, just lots of buffing hammers. I've even had a couple of gunners calling for gun repairs because they've brought a buff hammer instead of a wrench..

When I ask for a buffer, a lot of my engies ask if I want fire fighting or not. In very rare and specific circumstances would I ever want a spanner/mallet/buff engie. In random matches, i'd say they are looking for achievements rather than trying to be most efficient. Now if they ask beforehand, then they are genuine of course.

This goes for the top right engi on the Pyra, one of the Squid engineers, one or two Junker engineers, the Goldfish buffgineer, and that's about it.

Also, I'm changing my mind about the meta next patch. Greased rounds are terrible. Still engineer x3 for the Pyra.

Muse cant patch stupid, or people who don't want to listen or learn. though the in game manual REALLLLYYYY needs an update, most of the data is down right wrong at this point.

They had a few issues and had to shut down the testing, they are currently waiting for new keys to give out to everyone, so within the day the beta will be back up.

I'm assuming you've already joined it. After signing in, go to the discussions tab (default is overview). The discussion "Keys to get into dev app" is the one you want. Scroll down the comments until you find an unused key. Then go to Steam, look in the bottom left corner, and click "add a game" and then the option "Activate a product on Steam" When it prompts you for the code, enter the code from the steam group discussion. If it doesn't work try a different code. And voila, you're all set!

It would have been easier to just wait until Muse knew how Steam could enable this to happen, and then have emailed the instructions/keys out to those who supported Kickstarter at a tier that provided AM Alpha access. Mail merge and everyone gets a single unique key. A nice early reward for backers.

This way is a rather undignified scramble, having to try 20+ posted keys until you find one that's not been taken.

Or, instead of getting steam codes, which can be distributed in ways that aren't wanted, why not get steam inventory/gifts, which whoever could gift via steam to the relevant people. Could possibly be gifted to CAs or whatever to let them help distribute as well.

I know this was my first impulse before realizing the steps I was supposed to take. ::)
