Gameplay / Re: Spire Collection

The top engi going downstairs is a very bad idea, that's the Caps job. The Captain should always be the second engi (still pilot class). The top engi needs to be constantly shooting that merc and fixing the balloon when absolutely needed.

Also, simply because something is difficult to use correctly does not mean it is useless. The Spire WILL lay down some major damage with two good gunners and is a force to be reckoned with. You don't go after the Spire first only because it's the weakest, but because if you don't, it will kill you.

Wow, dragonmere. You completely misunderstood what I said. I did not say go it alone, I said find your own friends and worry about having fun rather than hooking up with stingy winning concerned clans that care only about your wrench arm rather than that you can sign your ABCs backwards while spinning in circles on a Squid.

Heh, it's not just about the pilot. The whole crew is important. Some ships you can limp by with a bad crewman, but the Spire requires a professional crew.

Actually, Sunderland, I beg to differ on the effectiveness of the field guns against a Spire. The two best ways to kill a Spire are a ramming Gat/Flak pyra or two mercs. The mercs will eat through the hull in one or two shots and because the hull health is so low, kill the spire. Not to mention you can keep their long range guns down while sniping them.

I love the Spire and both the Pyra, but neither is overpowered or underpowered. It's very simple really. Pyra trumps Spire pretty much all the time. If you want to kill a Spire, go Pyra. The Spires are best used as sniping platforms. This means you're gonna need an amazing gunner on that flak or lumberjack and a snazzy engi on the top merc. My favorite strategy is to have my buddy spot and disable while I hide in a cloud and lay down some fire. The Spire is a glass cannon, it lays down some hurtin' but can be flicked out of the sky like a fly. If you play a Spire you need a good buddy to help protect you and take fire for you. A powerful solution in 3v3 is two Hwacha Goldfishes to protect you and disable enemies, then you end them.

Awwww, man Muse, that looks beautiful. It looks a little sluggish to me but I'll still fly it simply because of how beautiful it is. Make sure that brass is as bright in game! I love where the pilot wheel is!

People tell me how they hate the new Carronade but I think it was a wise choice. If a blenderfish knew what he was doing, there was no escaping him. Your only hope was your buddy came for you, but then it takes very little to break a balloon so you could switch in between the two and you could actually kill both of them alone with no hassle. That's why the carronade/flak pyra was so strong because you could take on multiple opponents and win much easier. You may have destroyed the untouchable strategy of hanging above your opponent and driving him into the ice, but you just created the new strategy of hanging below them (granted, it's difficult to hit the balloon). But like you said, this game isn't about realism. If it was, the carronade would be on the bottom of your ship pointing straight down.

This is gonna turn into clans ripping each other into shreds for the new meat. By the time they're done with each other, they'll need the recruits.

Due to my laziness I did not read the rest of this thread, but I wanted to put my thoughts on the Artemis on here. I was just looking at the gun chart on the website and was surprised to see that the Explosive damage had been bumped up to 60 (from 20) and that the AOE had been bumped up to 5 (from 3 I believe). The Artemis before this patch was a very good gun, it just didn't have something special that made it amazing. You guys added it this patch, but went overboard with the stats. The new turn radius is amazing, I love it! But honestly, the extra explosive damage and AOE is kinda over doing it. Perhaps giving an extra second to the reload will help as well. I am sure this has been discussed thoroughly but I wanted to add my voice in to make sure the turn radius isn't changed.

Hey guys! I myself am American but I play in afternoon hours (evenings for you guys) I am part of The Valiant Clan and we are mostly EU and would probably be on around your times. Give me a shot on steam (Captain Magellan). Maybe we could hook sometime. We're not hardcore gamers, sure, we like to win as much as the next, but we just want to have some fun . . . and kill stuff.

The Valiant

Clan Leader(s): Captain Magellan
Clan Tag: -V-
Number of Members: 10 (2 inactive)
Website: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/C.M.V.C.
Location: We have guys from the U.S., France, Belgium, Denmark, and Australia. So anywhere.
Looking For: People who are actually good at the game are cool, but ultimately, we just want to have fun. If you are fun, mature, and understand this is just a game, we're cool with that.
Other Assets: Sometimes we use Skype, but most of the time, we use in game chat for ease of use.
Recruitment Thread: As we are invite only, we have no recruitment thread. However, I will be posting the opposite when I get around to it. The Valiant at the moment are a group of mercenaries who will lend their wheels to the right cause (for the right price, of course).

Darn I wish I had $10,000 to give you guys, heck I wish I had $100,000. I can probably scrape up $20.
