Q&A / Reconnecting to Other Team or as Spectator
« on: May 13, 2015, 04:55:11 pm »
So I heard from my friend,..

When you connect to a running match (played by a friend), but decide that you want to screw your friend over, disconnect, and try to join the other team, the game won't let you. I know its a bit specific sort of thing (hence, I haven't encountered the problem myself), but is this a thing? And if so, is it a bug or a feature?

Same thing when you want to go spectator, says my friend.

I am now curious, how many shots would it take to kill a ship with nothing but Flares?

Ask a Cake, they know.

But as long as an engineer is on the enemy ship, you won't kill anything with just flares. (You'll lag the ---- out of the game though)

World / Patch 1.4.1 News
« on: May 05, 2015, 10:31:25 am »
Similar to Patch 1.4 .0 News I wrote before.

Training Schools Open Around the World
In our age of Airships, concerns has been raised about the irregular instructions the Airship crews receive.

A dedicated school for training Airship crews had been proposed by several faction governments but never reached fruition, until last week.

A billionaire mercenary captain, Doctor of Engineering, Third Son of the Grand Duke Family of Fourth Fjordian Nobility, Grandson on the Mother' s side of the legendary Captain King Lear, Worshipper of Cog and Mog, Secretary of the Spanner - Mallet Brethren, a Member of the Grand Inquisition against Mallet - Spanner Heresy, Count Pegasus (He requested that his full title be published), have opened Airship Training Schools across the World.

Each School features a printing press, an elaborate obstacle course, a firing range, and a practice airship. At this school, one may obtain a printed copy of Evadne' s Reports and Wilson' s notes, detailing common airships and mounted weapons.

An enrolled student learns ways to sprint on a rickety airship, skills to fire mounted guns better, and tricks to move the ship better.

"It is my hope that my training schools can make better qualified airship crews," Mr.Pegasus said.

Chaladonian Retaliation on Anglea
A months ago, an Anglean raid on a secret Chaladonian gun powder refinery on a Fjordian coast raised further tension between the two technological factions.Several retaliatory skirmishes were reported on the Anglean borders, but a notable conflict occured last tuesday.

An Anglean manufactory, supplier of a key component in Heavy Clips, was razed.

It was reported that at 0500 hours, a dozen Chaladonian marked squid appeared North of the manufactory. They fired a high-payload Artemis missiles for three hours.

By the time Anglean military responded, the Chaladonian squids had disappeared and a heap of bent metals had replaced the manufactory.

"This is an aggression against every faction," Asger Ylfing, our correspondent in the Anglean Propaganda Ministry, "This manufactory was the only supplier of Ferromagnet that goes into Heavy Clips. Without Ferromagnets, Heavy Clip will be far, far less effective. This is a Chaladonian atrocity against all self-respecting gunners."

Heavy Clip is a popular ammunition among airship gunners due to its stabilizing ability, making every shot pin-point accurate. Without the ferromagnet, Heavy Clip is far less effective.

"It's a shame that ferromagnet was a closely guarded Anglean secret", said Liudong Zhong, a Yeshan engineer, "We've tried to make up for it, but its only a little more than 2/3 effective. Instead, we are trying to compensate by changing the guns."

New designs for Carronades and Hwachas will be available next Wednesday. It is highly recommended that the old guns get replaced with the new ones, which reduces the jitter of the guns.

News stories explaining Achievement Changes, Stamina, and Heavy Clip changes. I will write a few more, but I'm rather busy as it is AP Exam time in the high schools in America.

Thank you for reading  :)

I agree with everyone that has complained about UI. The new ones with thick white lines feel, I don't know, modern. They feel like those cheap flying simulators.

Also, why do components flash bright green when they break? That's a bug, right?
Also, why do my heart beat when I use Stamina as a Pilot? I'm not doing anything cardiovascular when piloting. It feels really weird.

But other than the graphics/ui/sound stuff, I am loving the new patch. I rather enjoy stamina, and I love the new balance (But I won't flamethrower for some time).

Also, shouldn't this really be Patch 1.5.0? There's more changes in this match than 1.4.0. It even added Stamina. Shouldn't this really be Patch 1.5.0?

Pilot Stamina: +125% thrust and +125% angular drag at the same time.  I am slightly curious, what exactly is the cumulative effect of those two changes on ship velocity and acceleration?

I imagine it'd be like having both Pheonix Claw and Moonshine on at the same time, without destroying the ship.

Schwaibe is swearing an awful lot in Polish, I think.  :P

I like that this time, the changes aren't awfully sledgehammer. Little tweaks here and there, especially on the H.Carronade. I appreciate that.

I also appreciate the commentary. Sometimes, it's really confusing when you guys (Muse) makes balance fixes. This time, we can see the reasons.

But its an awful lot of change. I'll actually have to play to figure out what the new patch did. I'll play maybe after school today. maybe after school tomorrow.

I don't know about Stamina yet. I know it was tested quite a bit in Dev App. I didn't think it'd be a PvP thing, but okay, I guess. I want Gilder Senpai to be happy. :P

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Buy Extra Slot
« on: April 23, 2015, 03:36:28 pm »
I don't like micro transactions.. and I don't know how effective an extra slot would be.

Three is enough for most of my ships. If I need to, I just change the loadout there and then. Unless Muse reduces the number of available load outs (which is one of the evils of micro transactions: irritating players to make money), I don't think I'll consider buying an extra slot.

Taking a look at the tesla gun...

I don't know how effective it'd be in PvP. Because ships don't clutter together too much.

But in Co-op/Adventure, it'd be cool. I'm expecting there will be some "minion" ships that require the bug zapper.

Here are generally the things I say to the other captain:

1.) Stay Back / Don't Engage
2.) Move In / Engage Now

3.) Move around to the left
4.) Move around to the right
5.) Follow me
6.) Following you

7.) Going after ship A
8.) Going after ship B
9.) Stay away from ship A (it's crewed by rydrs)
10.) Stay away from ship B (it's crewed by cakes)

11.) Watch the mines!
12.) Watch out for our mines!

13.) Stay away, we are going down.
14.) Get over here, we can hold for a while.

So, other than 7 through 10, what I say are V commendable.

The Lounge / Re: What do you guys think of this?
« on: April 22, 2015, 10:19:27 am »
Well, its not wrong. But it's not detailed enough to explain the complexity of balancing a PvP game.

I think the best example of game balance is starcraft II.
Blizzard released the game. Quite a few things were broken/op (like that early Reaper Rush). They fixed them pretty quick.
Some things were still a bit imba, so Blizzard kept twicking the numbers slightly. (1 or 2 seconds to research time. 25 or so increase to unit cost. etc. etc.)
When things were still broken, a unit was overhauled. (Void Ray, from stacking beam to activating beam).
While Blizzard was doing all that, players came up with their own balances. Coming up with strategies and unit compositions to counter what had previously seemed overpowered/imbalanced.

The above happened for a few years until the game somehow was balanced almost perfectly on all levels of play. For a while, Blizzard didn't release a huge balance patch (until Heart of the Swarm Expansion came out). And even after HoTS, the balance is finding itself.

Of course, almost no company has the resources Blizzard does. But the system of slightly twicking the seemingly imbalanced, overhauling seemingly broken, and letting the players come up with strategies (and reflecting that into balance), is a system I think Muse can use.

Balance patches should be spanner then mallet. Not mallet then spanner.

AoS-esque mode

Two sides of the map, with a few gun-towers on each sides. The objective is to destroy all enemy gun towers.

These towers would be armed with something like heavy-flak. Nothing that would cause serious harm, but something that could cause serious harm. Does that make any sense?

No minions and other mechanics... so not really a AoS or Moba genre, I guess...

A Campaign PvP

A PvP lobby with 3 to 5 set maps.

Teams begin with limited load outs, kinda like a novice lobby.
After each match, new guns/ships/etc are unlocked. The Winner gets to choose, Loser is given one at random.
After 2 or 4 matches, a final showdown match. If you win this match, you are awarded as though you won all 3/5 matches. You know, with experiences or w/l ratio and what not.

COOP Mode.
