How about the ability to add two medium mounts in place of a heavy mount. ie: double merc instead of heavy flack. Just imagine, 5 mercs on the side of a gallion...

A sword for the pilot, if the sword is used to spot a target then all shots fired from your ship will impact the enemy vessel spotted.
