Clan chat
« on: November 05, 2014, 01:09:27 am »
Does anyone currently use the clan chat?
Personally I've never really used the clan chat in my SIR days - nor do I do so in Ryders now. While there's often stuff worth sharing the clan (e.g. lobby passwords) and the feature is interesting for cross-match discussions, I still never use it. That's mostly because the clan chat in its separate tab tends to be ignored entirely. I suggest to integrate the clan chat into the match- and perhaps also the global chat. That's where the action takes place and people usually look at.

It also doesn't show when a chat has new messages so more reasons for it to be missed. Nothing to pull attention from the other tabs.

False.  I accidentally typed in it once.

Yeah, if we stick to the current 3 window solution, some sort of highlighting of activity in the unselected chat windows would be nice (e.g. display name in a different color if there's an unread message)
However I do believe putting the  clan channel into the match chat window would be a better approach. It's what people usually focus on anyway and I doubt a clan message once in a while will clutter up the chat window.

Yeah I made the thread (or at least long post) about it some time ago. No one cared.

But sure, just an icon which changes colour when message on clan chat appears, that'd be great.

All that needs to be done to turn it into an awesome feature is remove the tab, make it work exactly like party chat, and colour the text spring green. People complained about it being practically unusable in its current state as soon as it was added to the game - the devs acknowledged the critique but haven't touched it since.

I made JubJub type the lobby passwords in clan chat once - the rest of the clan complained they can't find it.

I'll occasionally quack in clan chat.  Then again I'll quack anywhere.

We put lobby passwords in there. We tell people first of course. Because no-one checks there.

I can confirm this statement. If they're going to leave the Clan Chat tab/feature in, they should at least have the tab flash when something new was entered into it. But I do agree with the aforementioned idea of just having Clan Chat be like Party Chat.

What I would love is for it to transition into an offline message platform for clan messages.

what I'd give for offline messaging for private messages...would be good for clan messages too.

I posted a password in clan chat for a Cake event I setup today. That was the first time that I have used it.
