Preorder now works for everyone!
Steam has finally helped us find a solution to the problem that was preventing players who already had the beta version of the game from purchasing the full version, so preorder should now work for everyone. Hooray!
Here’s the link to the store page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/209080/
When you visit the game page you may still see the green banner saying that you already have the game, but you can ignore that. If you add one of the preorder packs to your cart, you will now have the option to purchase it for yourself, and the transaction should be able to complete normally.
Sorry to everyone who experienced problems and confusion trying to preorder, and thanks for sticking with us while we worked it out with Steam. We really appreciate your patience and support! If there are any further issues, please let us know — otherwise, store’s open! 🙂
Join us for a Group Game Night!
Tomorrow night (Saturday) from 7-10 EST is our first of a series of Group Game Nights with the devs and CAs!
This is the first of a semi-regular series of group game nights to get larger groups of players in matches together. Once custom game functionality is in, we’ll do some organized matches and tournaments. For now, just get on and play!
If you can’t make it tomorrow, we’ll be doing this again on Sunday and Wednesday next week. You can check out the full schedule of events on the official Steam group: http://steamcommunity.com/games/gunsoficarusonline/events
We’ve also pushed a few balance changes to the server today. Of course, this is all still a work in progress and balancing is ongoing. Here’s a summary of what’s changed:
- Missile Sling: Increased clip size to 4. Increased rate of fire and reload time.
- Medium Flak: Reduced shell drop (increasing effective range)
- Increased most hull and balloon health values
- Fixed unintentionally high effectiveness of lightning damage type against armor (notably and slightly nonintuitively, this affects the howitzer).
- Slightly reduced effectiveness of explosive damage type against armor.
That’s pretty much it. See you in the skies!
Still having pre-order issues
For players who have beta keys, unfortunately we are still experiencing problems with pre-ordering on Steam.  We’re working closely with those at Steam and trying to get this problem resolved.  It’s a huge problem for you, the customer, and also for us because we totally want you to buy our game 😀
Here are the different groups of players and what will happen:
- Those who have a copy of the game already through Kickstarter and from our own pre-order store (which is now down), we will be sending you production keys in the coming future.
- Those who don’t have beta keys and never played Guns Online will be able to pre-order the game through Steam and play the beta and have a full copy of the game once it is released.
- Those of you with beta keys will not be able to pre-order through us or Steam for the time being. Â Yeah… it’s not ideal.
We ask everyone to hang tight and give us some time while we work it out with Steam. Â Please remember that a beta key is a beta key, it is NOT the full game. Â Thanks everyone for your patience!

Fire! Fire! Oh wait, a Phoenix Rises!
Hey, it’s your resident game designer at Muse Games, Eric.  As of late, I’ve been taking on a lot of marketing responsibilities like managing our Facebook page for Guns of Icarus Online to bantering on Twitter.  Muse is a small outfit so if any of us have free time or the skillset, we’ll try to fill in additional roles.  To some extent, I’m a jack-of-all-trades and maybe only a master at one (game design, duh).  I think that’s enough to preface the story I’m about to tell, a huge fiasco but also an unexpected win for us at Muse Games.
If something can go wrong… it will definitely go wrong if the internet is involved.
More after the jump…
