Midweek update: New ship! New gun!

Build 0.14 may have just touched down, but build 0.15 is already on the way! Here’s a peek at what we’re currently working on for version 0.15 and beyond…

Introducing the Tower.

Beta 0.15 will continue matchmaking fixes, but will also bring some exciting new toys to the table and some improvements to the interface. Let’s start with the part that caught your attention first: the toys. Details about the new ship and more after the jump!

Next week you will be able to run, gun, and repair the monstrous “Tower,” a vertical spire ship with four decks for an unconventional and powerful new style of play.

The fearsome lion-faced Manticore Rocket Hwacha.

The next toy will cause Galleon and Goldfish captains to rejoice: you will be getting a new medium weapon to add to your arsenal. The Manticore Rocket Hwacha fires a blinding long-range barrage of 20 rockets for a powerful assault or area-of-denial effect.

Matchmaking will also experience an overhaul in a unified matchmaking system that combines public custom and matchmade games. In this build when you press quick join you will join into an existing custom game, or automatically create a new one if needed.

A match rejoin button is also on its way, so if you leave for any reason or are disconnected you can rejoin the match without hassle.

To keep games flowing we’re adding a “vote to surrender” feature to give losing teams a choice other than simply leaving.

We are also tidying up the interface to show information better. We are adding a camera shake and enhanced damage indicators. There will also be updated helm piloting animations, and a match loading screen with map objectives and information.

There are no plans on slowing down as the week after we have some more major additions on the way. We plan on having a working achievement and leveling system where you can advance your rank titles. There are also new 2v2 maps based on Flayed Hills and Anglean Raiders in the works. A new weapon, codenamed “Lumberjack,” is also going through the final internal tests before it’ll be in your hands.

Lastly, we are still hot on the trail of the elusive Missing Helm Bug…
