George doesn't look up but places a pair of large, pink and fluffy earmuffs over his ears, takes out a book and reads it, awaiting the outburst from Gunhild.

[Koali]

I actually meant that we'd been here all along, just a random Tavern in the desert that seems to have simply popped up out of the ground.

*Leaves the room and returns with a radio.*

"Here, Carn, I found a radio-"

*Notices Gunhild and her ship and promptly turns to stone.*

[Carn]

Banging open the door Gunhild enters armed with not one, but two, carbine's in each hand. And they happen to be pointed in the general direction of the room.

(Gunhild) "Now then boys, I am going to ask you this just once......"

(Ingur) seeing the look in her sister's eyes, she jumps in front of her "Gunhild don't shoot! I got distracted ok? Haven't found a radio that could go to Kinforth."

(Gunhild) seeing her sister is unharmed, she puts her carbines crossed over her back "I see......." noticing Carn standing nearby, she turns back to her sister "I see he is still alive, so I win the bet."

(Ingur) wincing "I was hoping you'd forget that."

(Gunhild) "Since when do I forget that kind of thing." flashes a sinister smile. Then walking over to Carn, she throws a right hook then a drive to the solar plexus

Carn manages to duck the hook, and is still wearing body armor

(Carn) "Really? Cap-----Major," catching himself after noticing her new rank "Ingur already got her licks in."

(Gunhild) stretching her hand "Exactly why are you wearing body armor?"

(Carn) "Oh..... I forgot I still had that on."

(Gunhild) "If anyone else said that, I wouldn't believe them. However, considering I've seen you sleep in full armor, on a concrete floor, during a flak barrage, I can believe it."

(Koali, I need Nestor to say who won remember?)

[Koali]

Well, hold on, he was in the bathroom.

And you said two carbines in each hand? For a total of... Four? I guess Gunhild just has man hands.

{[AI] Nestor the Judge} *Returns from the bathroom and is about to announce the winner of the drinking contest but trails offupon noticing Gunhild.*

"And the winner... is... Carn..."

[Carn]

(...she has two total, not four)

(Carn) surreptitiously scoops up the 200 gold on the table "Umm Nestor, why were you in there? Your an automaton."

(Gunhild) "Sentient automatons, a strange pink thing that turns to stone... whats going on?"

(Carn) "I stopped asking a long time ago."

(Ingur) pokes Shaded's face "Uhhh I think he has a mild case of paralysis....."

(Carn) "Yeah I think your right, let me get the "wake up" shot." rummaging around in his coat, Carn pulls out a vial and pours some of the contents into Shaded's mouth "Ok, you don't want to know what was in that. But his heart rate should be increased which will circulate it through his system. He should wake up soon enough."

(Gunhild) notices the mugs "Got another one to try and out drink you on your brew?"

(Carn) "And now I'm 100 gold richer."

(Gunhild) "Well sober up," pulls out an officer's badge and tosses it to Carn "You've been reactivated and promoted. Welcome back, Captain."

[Koali]

Can we retcon it and say it looked like four total because Gunhild is so badass she has her own custom-made double-barreled carbines?

{[AI] Master Bartender Elite Nestor} "I... Erm... Would anyone care for a drink?"

[Carn]

(Hmmm, i like the way you think, two double barreled carbines it is)

(Carn) stands there jaw dropped holding a Captain's badge

(Ingur) waves hand in front of Carn's face

(Gunhild) "The entire senate signed it Gormson. The whole freaking senate. They want you to be the Official Anglean Representative out here in neutral territory. That requires a rank, one a bit nicer sounding then Sergeant."

(Carn) "I'm a bloody officer, politics, paperwork....."

(Gunhild) "I'd say he could use a drink. This is a fairly common reaction for NCOs who've been made an officer without desiring to be one."

(Ingur) storming over to her slightly taller sister she starts yelling "THIS IS WHY YOU CAME? TO YANK HIM BACK! YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW WHY HE LEFT!"

(Gunhild) endures the tirade of her little sister with military professionalism, letting her burn herself out "I had my orders Ingur. If I could, I would have left him in peace. The entire senate signed off on it. When have you ever heard of the entire senate agreeing on anything."

[Koali]

*Awakens from stone form.*

"Is... Is it safe to come out now?"

{[AI] Master Bartender Elite Nestor} *Pours a mug of mead for Carn.*

[Carn]

(Ingur) puts the mead in Carn's hand "Relax Koali, she's not here to kill anyone."

(Carn) remains frozen except for occasional mutterings involving senator names, paperwork, and a wide variety of swears

(Ingur) "It seems my sister," glares at Gunhild "came here to reactivate Carn into the military. As an officer, a captain to be exact."

(Gunhild) "We have heard several accounts of the recent activities you've been doing out here in Neutral territory. Several smuggling jobs, including one into an important Empire city. Repelling multiple bandit attacks on several towns, as well as other things. Therefore they want him as our Official Representative out here."

(Ingur) "If thats why your here, then why come in guns blazing?!"

(Gunhild) "Admittedly I was worried about you, but honestly I like doing things like that." grins a grins far to sadistic to give anyone pleasure

[Koali]

"Really? Ok. But unless this is like one of those stories that people write in a notebook and pass it around for someone else to write the next part *cough* a captain spends a lot of time at a desk. Now, if Carn refuses such a fate and wants to keep being a badass instead, does that mean the entire Anglean army is going to swoop in and kill us?"

[Carn]

(Gunhild) "His particular commission means he has rather less paperwork then other officers. Mostly just regular reports, as well as any for unusual events. Unless he needs to requisition then he wont have to deal with any quartermaster. Quite frankly he will operate with far more autonomy then most.

(Ingur) "Buutttttt...."

(Gunhild) "But if he refuses, then I will have to take him into custody. If he's not attached he's considered a loose end. His skill and knowledge make him valuable, and if they can't have him work for them, they'll want him under guard." 

[ShadedExalt]

*Shaded shakes his head and makes a "pbbbbt" noise.*

"DAMN.  I was OUT.  Sorry, guys, I have episodes where I just go dead to the world..."

*Notices Gunhild and Carn's Captain badge.*

"...Having a bit of a Rip moment here..."

[Koali]

"He's not going. He's crucial to the plot of this--- I mean, uh... He can't just go to a desk job!"

"..."

*Whispers to Carn.* "That is a desk job they're trying to put you in, right?"

[Carn]

(Gunhild) "This isn't a desk job, I'm just going to cut to the point here. He's skilled, he knows a lot, and he's done a lot of helpful things out here in the Neutral Zone. The Senate wants him to keep doing that, but as an official of Anglea. Aside from reports, he will have barely any paperwork, so he won't need a desk that much. He will be able to operate with far more freedom than most others."

(Carn) coming out of his daze he replies "Basically not much has changed. I only need to send in reports, and not do anything that would make the Republic look bad."

(Gunhild) "Those are your standing orders. Of course should war come, those will change."

(Ingur) removes the still half filled mug from Shaded's hand "I suggest you don't drink Carn's brew. It's a gimmick of his, he's drank so much of it he is highly resistant to the affects of nightshade. Even if they have a higher alcohol tolerance then him, the nightshade always stops them."

[Koali]

"I guess I misunderstood. So... Carn's getting a shiny badge and just has to write home every so often?"
