The gods of Ammonium hear the prayers of the gunites, they who is loaded with the deathly prayers of those who man the airship. The gods then send some of their power to this earthly plane, and the guns are fully loaded.

These are no normal sandstorms, these are physical manifestations of dust's will. The Age of Dust ended when the dust storms all concentrated into only a few smaller storms. However, in doing so they gained sentience of their own, all connected with one another via a kind of neural link called the 'Grit Synapse'. They do not need wind to fly, for they are the wind, the hand of dust.

The harpoon creates a rift between it and the launcher. As soon as it hits a ship it generates a rope where the rift was. The two ships are now linked neurally.

His name is Albert Thomas Pennyworth, he is the product of too much inbreeding in the Fjord Barronies. He calls that rocket "Nursey" and he talks to it at night.

There are actually 3 forward facing guns, two heavy and one light.  The galleon flies sideways across the dunes like the Sky Crab or "Galleon Crab" it is based on.

The white squares are actually ropes strung around your ship, you can't see these because while you're asleep your crewmates paint the sides of your eyes so you don't see the ropes.
