Deutschsprachige GoIO Community / Re: Alliance DLC testen

Kann das DLC wärmstens empfehlen für die, die es noch nicht während der Open alpha testen durften aber auch jene die es bereits kennen. Der Spielmodus macht richtig Spass

Bin deswegen nun auch dabei (merci Allons ;) beim testen.

General Discussion / Re: How do ships fly? (revisited)

but heavy air thing wouldn't explain why balloons deflate to bottom. If we accept that it's a design flaw on muse side then maybe. But still "heavy air" would need to be very dense and have high pressure difference to lift anything. think of a stone underwater. alot of air is needed to lift it from the ground proportionally to its volume. So if we believe the wiki that states a pyra has a 300t mass it's only safe to assume that it would need a much bigger balloon to travel between gas layers. So i'll stick with anti gravity apparatus^^

I think we had the same discussion back in like '13.
It's probably most safe to say that it's a hot air balloon and that there's some magic device that lowers gravity. there's no reasonable way to explain why a 300t heavy ship lifts from the ground just like that. If it would be liquid you could simply incase it in a tank with a hard shell. Exposing it like on a hot air balloons or zeppelin wouldn't be neccessary.

I'd still rather watch a ton of crap anime than sit through 5 minutes of western entertainment...cept for Castle because...Nathan Fillion.

Mostly because Japan allows more creativity still. Western studios are all about churning out money makers. They don't want to take risks and so they rehash plots or outright just reboot left and right. Got a friend who was a producer and shes now working in Hollywood trying to go into acting. Had a lot of great talks with her a couple years back about how bad the studios really are. Even some of the decent ones are adopting the business models of the big studios. Why our entertainment is just getting worse and worse.

When you compare us to Japan, just no contest. Japan studios win. But little sad recently, they've begun rebooting stuff too. Last season it was Broken Blade, which did not need a reboot at all, just another series. Then this season its Psycho Pass. I can understand if it is an anime from the 70s which is one of the foundations of modern anime like Space Battleship Yamato, which got a remake and it is awesome. But Broken Blade and Psycho Pass? Really? Just dumb. No point in rebooting so soon. Just reusing old animation, add some filler, cheap profits. Ugg...the Broken Blade reboot theme song is horrific. Made me want to edit all the episodes and recut in the Fate theme song from the original animation release.

So basicly you're comparing the one movie industry with the other without knowing the other all? (judging from the first sentence)

If you ask me Hollywood still winns at the better movies and series. Animation wise they're clearly behind but just look at Pixar or Dreamworks they got a great list of good movies.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Pocket sound mirror (tool)
« on: March 16, 2014, 11:59:27 am »
Already treid to make such an item. I called it the whale sonar that sends out a sound that returns if the enemy is in the general direction.

There could be a counter tool for the captain to silence the engines. That'd make it vital for a brawling setup.

Feedback and Suggestions / Pocket sound mirror (tool)
« on: March 06, 2014, 02:17:03 pm »
From a discussion in another thread I thought of that idea of having a tool that let's you hear farther.

A sound Mirror concentrates sound from where it's pointing at. With the amount of clouds in this game it could be quite usefull to have a sense of direction where the enemy is. The tool only works if you focus it and the engines of the enemy are on. You still won't be able to mark him with that but something similiar with the crosshair of the rangefinder could work. The direction of the sound can be seen as long as somebody is using the tool.

Concept of the tool:

also I know we have drums, but in contrast this tool will allow you to pin down the direction of the enemy.

logical design or not, the numbers itself speak for that. Pyramidion has a mass of 200t. That's roughly as much as the Hindenburg had when boarded. Wiki tells me it had a balloon volume of 200.000 m³ to hold that.

Helium nor Hydrogen is physically able to lift any of the designs of these vessels.

It can't be any gas known to us. Otherwise no ship in goio would rise the slightest. it must be something even lighter then hydrogen, which is impossible but you know... airships.
