Gameplay / Re: 1.3.3 GUNS AND GUNNER SKILL BALANCE

Ok, as much as I'd like to be weighing in on this debate, I do need to take a step back here and try to keep the peace. Much of this is devolving into rather heated and pointed attacks. Keep discussions based on the patch balance, please no attacks in any direction. Ya hear?

That being said, the nerf was very much imbalanced.

At this point a complete redesign of the chem spray is in order.
Some time ago someone proposed turning the chem spray application into a buffing process, like the buffing tool, with the effect lasting longer but requiring multiple applications  of the chem spray in order to kick in.

In my mind, the problem with this would be how it would serve to actually put out fire. Chem spray is meant to be a lesser extinguisher with the added benefit of fire-proofing for a short period. The downside is that right now the reward isn't worth the cut in extinguishing power, I think that's what they need to balance. If they could change it akin to the buff, cool. But you still want to have 2 options of eliminating fire.

Right, obviously there'd have to be some sort of review of all clan tag requests. The reason why I include the price tag in this hypothetical is to cut down the number of requests to only the truly dedicated members of this community.

Also, the "Gent" tag is gonna be at least $40.

I don't think a 1v1v1 would ever fly with Muse (hehe... get it?). They've said for a while now that they have no intention of having a 1v1 option, as the game shouldn't be one ship verses another. There's not enough balance in the world to make that happen. They want the game to be more teamwork based, hence 2v2, so that a combo of ships can compliment each other and balance each other out.

Now, your 2v2v2 idea... you may be onto something there... Dibs on Green Team!

True that. I first fell in love with Shipyard's Pumpkinhead, but after finding Sammy A's Harvest Pumpkin, I can't go back to Pumpkinhead. I'm currently giving Blue Moon's Harvest Pumpkin a try, it's dece.

This patch, they ignored the pyra, yay.
Not entirely. They made the guns on the pyra bigger, easier to hit targets.

True, however I will admit this was well needed. I'm a pyra pilot myself (well... I was), and I even know the hit boxes were kinda messed up.

I definitely like this idea, as trolls will be trolls. However, I don't want to limit who can put on any given clan tag.

People should still be able to put on random clan tag names, as long as it's not already "used." If Jimmy and his 3 friends who all bought the game together want to put on a random clan tag name, I say let them. I think there should be an official "dibs" system, where you can officially claim the clan tag "Gent," "WOLF," "COx," ect. In order to prevent people from spamming this "dibs" system and requesting every possible combination of 4 letters there is, why not monetize it? I feel like most competitive clans wouldn't mind dropping lets say $3 to gain proprietary rights to their clan tag, but this would be enough to stop random people from requesting official rights for their tag. Whoever bought the clan tag could then give out permission to use the tag to his/her clan members, but no one else could use it. Jimmy and his friends could still use the tag "BOOM" as long as it didn't conflict with a clan that already bought out the rights to the name. He wouldn't be made to pay anything for it, unless he wanted to make a competitive "BOOM" clan and recruit others but prevent random players from having the tag. Regular tags would be (in parentheses), bought out tags would be [in brackets].

I don't know, it's late and I've had a few tonight so this might be a terrible idea. Let me know if this is completely crazy.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out the mobula as viable. True, they are very similar in roles with the exception that the Spire has a heavy weapon option. However what the mobula lacks in firepower it makes up for in versatility in guns. I normally have a merc, two artemis, and two caronades, all in a mirror config. This allows me to have 3 guns firing at long range, and 2 guns just in case a brawler ship closes the distance and gets too close. A spire with 4 long range guns might not have that close range defense. However, with the nerf to the brawler builds, I guess you could be right since no one's going to be getting within 450 meters of a good sniping platform any time soon!

Either way, hearing that changes to a mobula are inbound makes me very happy

As someone who strongly prefered extinguisher to chem spray pre-patch, you have just solidified my "no chem spray" rule on my ships.

I quite agree. In my opinion, the "fireproof" reward of the chem spray is nullified by the fact that it only lasts for 20 seconds. Being proactive with chemspray against a flaming enemy could potentially render it useless, but actually being proactive with it in it's current setup is not worth it if it means you're taking a gunner away from a gun or an engi away from the hull. The other downside to it is with a 5 second cooldown, the tool is rendered useless against any fire stack over 6-9. At that point, just go take care of something else and let it smolder, then rebuild it once it breaks, or call down someone with an extinguisher. I think the chem spray should be the next thing looked at in terms of balance.

I feel as if this spire buff was a long time coming, and I welcome it to the competitive scene. I think it'll do mainly as a sniping platform since it is still made of glass, but it's got the same 4gun potential as a mobula, plus a heavy gun being one of those weapons, which makes it very scary. I can't wait to see what comes of it.

There's always uproar with every patch from players, normally the GoIO community being split down the middle with people favoring different styles. This patch, however, has struck a nerve with pretty much all higher level players of this game. Almost unanimously, both brawler and sniper teams combined feel as if the brawler nerf was way out of balance. It seems like every patch, the pattern has been the same. Nerf the pyra, nerf the gat. This patch, they ignored the pyra, yay. But the range reductions on the gats and mortars, along with the damage reduction and jitter increase for both guns respectively, don't just balance the metamidion, they render it completely inept in any given fight.

I'm sorry, but I see no purpose to cutting the range of the gat, especially not by the amount that they did. I've flown with Salous for quite a while, and I know him to be pretty much one of the best gat gunners in the game. He would have those shots on target the second they were within range, something that most players couldn't do. I can only assume Garou is right up there with him. To say that the gat is NOT a skill weapon is an insult to them in this game. The point is, the gat has been rendered completely useless. And yes, I was in the developer's app, I've known about this for longer than today, don't tell me the right pilots haven't tested it yet.

For the sake of this game, I can't wait to see what develops as the new meta, however I feel as if the pyra's finest days are behind it. I fear that the competitive scene will devolve into the "15 minute per kill" sniping battles where everyone camps forever. One of the reasons why the Wolves were just so damn scary was because they were different from the norm in the competitive scene. They took one thing, mastered it, and threw it at their opponents every time. That wasn't a sign of imbalance, that was a tribute to their players, and my hat's off to them. We'll see what comes, but needless to say I am not happy with this most latest patch.

I will legitimately pay you money for a wood burning of a pyramidion. I'm not sure you were taking me seriously. Probably due to that picture of a goat I posted. But I am serious. Get at me.

Yeah really... dragonmere and I have been pyra pilots our whole captain lives, there's a special place in my heart for pyras! If you have the time, name us a price, we will pay you up front!
