I'd rather turn it into a red-and-white striped candy cane, or barbershop pole.

That moment when you flare a pyramidion's balloon, and it continues through to hit the front weapon on the Goldfish directly behind it, as well as its hull, setting everything on fire.

For reference: http://www.twitch.tv/qwerty2jam/b/417985294
15m05s in, i fire a flare from the Not My Fault into both ships. I didn't even realize it at the time, but my god do I feel like a badass now.

Correction on the flare gun, it has about as much random spread as the flak, probably more. I actually prefer Heavy Clip with it so I can snipe components. Even with Heavy Clip, it doesn't have much dropoff, but the projectile travels quite slowly. Some folks also use Lesmok since it cuts down on the spread and can increase its max range.

That 15 stack of fire prevents anyone from shooting a gun hit by the flare. Useful against Goldfish, Spires, and Galleons.

Erm, just out of curiosity, has the topic of slightly lowering the gat's damage come up (1-2 pierce damage per shot less)? Would that ruin its ability to take down armor? I realize 1-2 pierce damage is actually a significant portion of its dps, which is why I'm curious.

Wii fit trainer is a silly idea and I love it. It's not like SSB is a super serious game, not when you can have Captain Falcon and Zelda beating the stuffing out of each other.

...you start typing and then want to say something in voice chat and hold down the X key wondering why no one can hear you and then realizing that "shoulxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is way to long to backspace so you just click enter.
;D

In that case, Shift-(up arrow) will select everything. Allows for quick deleting.

Not sure if it's been suggested before, but maybe allow gunners (or everyone) to switch out ammo instantly, with maybe a 3 second cd before it can be fired again. Switching ammo wouldn't trigger a reload, in this case. Probably doesn't make a huge amount of sense from a lore perspective, but it would let gunners switch between ammo types a little more effectively. It would let them choose the most effective ammo more quickly, which could increase their desirability.

Alternatively, maybe let gunners choose which ammo gets loaded into a gun by default. By that I mean, gunner chooses an ammo type for a gun and reloads it. The 'normal' ammo on that gun for everyone else becomes the special ammo. When it reloads, it reloads with the ammo the gunner chose. Or, instead of replacing the normal ammo, the special ammo could become an option for anyone using it (1 would be normal ammo, 2 would be the special ammo someone else loaded into it, 3-5 would be whatever ammo you're carrying).

Q&A / Re: Flare Gun: viable?
« on: June 10, 2013, 09:56:01 pm »
My main actually swears by heavy clip... I dont argue, b/c he hits what he aims for :P

It's true, I like heavy clip on the flare gun. Makes it a bit tricky to lead targets correctly sometimes, but flares are best used when you're within spitting distance anyway. At close range, the perfect accuracy of heavy clip lets you reliably snipe components. Even with Lesmok, it's harder to snipe components reliably than with Heavy Clip.

Even with heavy clip, there isn't much drop. At max range with heavy, the flare only drops to about the bottom dot on the crosshair.

Two times have I dominated a 1v3 battle in a squid that was not even my own.

Based on your levels, I can only assume you piloted, gunned, and repaired simultaneously.

That moment when everyone on the ship talks absurdly cryptically for the hell of it, making sentences like "The tablecloth has been stained! Give them the salad!"

That moment when it starts making sense.

Since you may have missed my questions, does the flare gun only set the first thing it hits on fire or everything it hits? Also, what are its stats, since its information seems a bit outdated?

Community Events / Re: uncompetitive scrimmage day
« on: June 05, 2013, 05:59:18 pm »
Suggestion- every team consults its members and determines 1-3 set times a week when they can meet up and have enough players for practice. They can then post in this thread or a new one what those times are. OP can then update with a list of all those teams, the times they say they're available, and a place where each team can be contacted.

Scheduling a scrimmage would then be as simple as looking at that list, talking with your own team to determine which times they can make, then contacting the other team.

I blame Shink for getting me addicted to flare guns.

There is a bit of travel through for lots of the projectiles in the game though the devs never tell us how much.

I know frequently prior to 1.14 that a mercury shot could break a weapon and the hull in one shot. This was due to it traveling through the gun to hit both the gun and the hull.

Maybe this is what you observed?

Yes. But the question still remains, does it only set the first thing it hits on fire or everything it hits? Also, what are its other stats, since its information seems a bit outdated?
