I like the idea of only letting them join non-novice matches as engi/gunner, but they would have to be allowed to stay piloting in novice matches imo for a few reasons
1) friends who buy the game as a pack of 4 will be split up if they can't pilot and I think this will put off a lot of new players
2) when I was novice I only really played gunner and engineer at first, and because of that I never realized what a huge difference having an engine down made, I think for things like this you really need to play all 3 classes, just to see how one relies so much on the others if nothing else
3) if they aren't piloting in the novice matches, who is? XD

Do people still play tribes ascend? I used to find that game really fun but It took even longer than GOIO to find a match, or was that just time zone stuff?

Do you really have 8 teams? I see a few 4 player teams in there. Are you counting those too?
there are 8 full teams after the one-crew teams have been paired up , counting the 4-man groups seperatly there are 11 groups (if I counted right at least)

Since Mad Hatters won't be involved in this one I thought I'd put it out there that if anybody does need an extra player/sub I would love to fill in for any of you guys. I have both TS and Mumble so comms shouldnt be a problem, feel free to give me a message of you find yourselves in need of an engineer at any point

It's nice to see that you guys are reaching out to the less experienced teams, I can say from experience it is really offputting being stomped every game be clans like RYDR and SPQR (anybody remember the tea timers? Nope because they disbanded after nearly 3 weeks of inconsistent practice and being 5-0'd by every team we played XD)

surely I can't be the only person that thought they already did?!?! I can't even remember the amount of times I have called for help repairing a certain component and thought the AI were actually listening to me :/

I play nearly exclusively main engi and I personally agree that the threat of fire is really needed for this, otherwise it would be boring as hell.
Also it's really, really satisfying to go against a team of newer players who still have the 'flamer is OP' mindset so they bring a doubleflamer front  pyra, which you alone can make 99% redundant  XD

(this is based on opinion and some experience)
2nd is a heat sunk mercury can strip an unaware pyramidion or goldfish in one clip which greatly helps sniper build (think H-flak spire that can strip at 1.5 kilometers out with a good gunner
personally I wouldn't see this as effective because (as far as I a m aware) a buffed charged merc can still strip the hull in 1 clip but has no decreased projectile speed so is easier to aim and faster as it only needs 2 shots not 3. it's very rare to have a merc where it can't be buffed almost constantly (top deck galleon being the only place I can think of you would have a merc without constant buffing)

Jub Jub that is the one I meant, I thought it was in the R&D not just SCS for a while. That was when I was only just starting to play competitive though so I did at first think that system was used for all major events XD

Yay, I think we have needed something like this for a while, the kind of phase like this was the R&D where they mades or team 1 picks 1 ship, team 2 picks both then team 1 picks their final ship, made for some interesting combos and prevented hard counters for the most part as I'd you didn't know both enemy ships until you had picked at least 1 of your own.
But did I read it right that that ship will onto be banned for thaw one pick, or is it banned for the other team altogether?
Also would there be a time limit on each turn? The lobby timenow can get ridiculous without a set time limit

I was under the impression the other thread was aimed at one particular clan, calling for other people to report all the clan members. I may be wrong tho.
It was, until I stated that it was not the symbol that was used that was offensive, but the negative connatations linked to it  due to the use of it by very few extremists who used a well-intentioned ideology to justify the horrific crimes they committed.
This then sparked a debate as to if said ideology was well intentioned or not, and examples of others like it.

I think this falls again into the debate of 'is it the symbol itself or the perception of that symbol?'
I am all for a disscussion regarding political ideologie Vs one leaders personal vendetta, but that's all that thread was, a  discussion in which all peoples views were respected but questions about those views were posed.
Though I see where you are coming from, there is no need for a personal attack by setting up a different thread aimed at one particular person
