Gameplay / Re: Metamidion vs Gat Artemis Pyramidion.
« on: March 19, 2015, 03:56:56 am »
Imo it is really strong against pyras and goldfish.
But gat-carro is really good vs mobula, junker and galleon in my experience. If you want full disabling I have yet to see a ship deal with arti-carro effectively ( I know that's a little off track but I thought I'd put it out there)
But yeah, I agree that unless the meta gets a really good approach they are unlikely to win that fight.

teamspeak is kinda like Skype except no webcam and anybody can jump in and out whenever they want. That's pretty much the only way I can think to  describe it. If you know what mumble is its nearly identical to that

Nathial if you look on your application on our website you can see comments people have left about you, and after last night there are now quite a few recommendations for you on there, I can assure you that the problem is not that nobody likes you.
As for not many gents online that is unfortunately true :/ mostly because we are currently looking to expand into other games as alot of the core members who have been around a lot longer than myself have simply got bored of GoIO but there are usually people on our TS server almost constantly, just usually playing other games.
And finally apologies if you feel like you were forced into something you didn't want to do but that match las night was a Mad Hatters practice for our match vs Sord this Saturday where we needed practice against experienced captains flying a galleon-junker
I Am really sorry if you do feel like the Gents are not for you but as I said, check out your application and the replies that it has, we would be happy to have you as a full member however until recently only 1 or 2 of us had played with you
EDIT: once you become a full member you will be sent the password to our TS server, I highly recommend getting involved on there. Your application has taken longer than usual because we havnt seen you in-game very often, to speed things up message other Gents whenever you see us online, even if we cant play with you (which is rare) it makes you look really good!

Goldfish Junkers and Pyramidions need two chem sprays.
interesting you should say that. One loadoyt which we used to run a lot on goldfish was spanner-mallet -buff for the hull engineer with standard kit on balloon engi.
the balloon engi ran a chem cycle main engine-balloon-
jump down next to the hull-front gun and repeat. It leaves little time for repairs and the side engines are exposed to fire but the spanner-mallet-buff really helped survivability.
unfortunately it was also really weak to balloon popping as when the balloon went down so did chem cycles, against an enemy with little fire however this didn't work too badly against us

Generally if they have flamers or a lot of fire like banshees, Hades ext... It is better to chem or you will just run laps of the ship putting out fires constantly anyway, then you have no time to repair and end up in a really bad situation. But if they have little-no fire based weapons/ammo chem can be more trouble than its worth, in which case you are better off with extinguisher ussually.
But keep in mind your crew and your own ability as well, on mobulas and bottom deck galleon chem cycles can be near impossible to maintain, especially if you have a less experienced gunner who means well by repairing his own gun but leaves no time between for you to chem ( Though that issue Can ussually be fixed fairly easily through good communication)
like  practically everything in this game both work well, which one works better is very situational and personal preference.
I personally live by chem spray, it breaks my heart seeing all my beautiful components all non-chemmed and vulnerable.
PS: the CORRECT loadout order is spanner-mallet-fire tool

I always pictured the goldfish and pyra the other way around in terms of size, and the junker much bigger

After our matches we wanted to see the Recorded stream, and hear the commentary about the match. But it was in France.. What?? Nothing against frans or their language, but when there is a world wide event, wouldnt it be better with a world wide language.. like, say, english?
some of the matches are streamed in English some In French, the clan that run the tournament. Flib, are a French clan so obviously they will stream in French and it would need at least double the casters to stream every match in both languages. But if you look on the web-page there is the option to volunteer as a caster so you Could always talk a friend/clan member into volunteering if you would like you match to come with an English commentary

not lately hehehe ;)

Don't worry, once I am settled in the clan and comfortable I can start being bossy, then you'll be on Chem spray laps mister! And should you fail, Aft gun duty!

If that's your version of a punishment I need to fly with you more often

Gameplay / Re: Noobie: Tar cloud, yes or no?
« on: March 12, 2015, 02:53:11 pm »
I rarely play pilot but I can say that being caught in tar Is absolute hell for the engineers, especially if the captain can't get out quickly. As far as I know it is useful but as you say I havnt really seen many lower level pilots use it. From what I can gather with my limited flying experience it is good but often just having another mobility tool is more versatile

I didn't mean that the way in which they won was unsportsmanlike, they played Vetter than us that match, we made so many mistakes we didn't really deserve to wi n either way ( and I don't think we would have won that engagement in real time either) Would it have worked better if I said it's the only time if seen the Gents truly p*seed off about losing a match? ( not just upset about losing, but I know at least 4 of our members  including myself that were really annoyed)
But no I agree that the rules shouldn't be changed to accommodate for bugs like that, as you said it's nobody's fault, maybe next week we will win a match because of it? XD

27
The layout itself worked really well  from what I saw.
Though I think it was the first time I have seen the Gents take a loss in a rather unsportsmanlike way, and that was only because a slow mo bug bear the end of the match caused a 25sec respawn to take over 2 mins, making the loss all that much more frustrating.

General Discussion / Re: To GG or not to GG? That is the question.
« on: March 06, 2015, 04:07:24 am »
GG is pretty much my way of saying game over.

I guess game gone? Hence I only say it before or during a match when it has reached a conclusive point.

gg in many rts circles (esports star craft notably) is actually just a means of surrendering a match as it has reached the point where a player loses the chance/ability to win.
I agree 100% that in some games, specifically starcraft, it is actually considered extremely rude not to gg at the end of a game, regardless of how well played or enjoyable it was, but personally I don't want GOIO to turn into one of those games where a gg is necessary. Imo it should hold some degree of meaning, not just a way of saying 'game over'

I for one say gg if it's a fun match, GG! If it was an extremely tense/fun match. Its a really subtle difference but one that I think makes a big deifference. If it's not worthy of either of those then say nothing imo, as somebody said, its like tipping in a restaurant, if you had bad service you wouldn't leave a tip

Imo levels show experience more than skill, and as a general rule if somebody is high level in one class they are likely to do well in the others through understanding more than practice
EG I would like to think I am a pretty good gunner, but my lvl 22 gunner stat would tell a different story. I am not experienced as a gunner, but have still had practice with most guns playing as an engineer.
