I manipulate useless powder monkeys instead of getting angry. They wanna sit on one gun all match and do nothing else? Fine, I give them the firing arc when I need it and put an engineer to use on the other guns the rest of the time. An engineer can't figure out what end of the fire extinguisher spouts the gushy white stuff? Fine, he can sit on the hull for the whole game, if I absolutely need to I can duck out and swap to engineer/take a fire tool. Sometimes you just gotta cover all the bases you can and hope for the best.

I approve wholeheartedly, the only problem is implementation. 16 guns x 8 ammo types = 128 unique gun mechanics to code, test, and implement.

All work and no play makes the engineer a dull boy.

When I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be a mirror the pilot used to 'dazzle' people trying to use spyglasses, preventing spots.

This is a better idea, I want.

Congratulations my brother, there's no finer community in the skies to raise a son.

also want some of the accessories to be dyeable.  most of the goggles don't need it, but not everything that fit in that slot is goggles.
I'm thinking when steam workshop hits, one could be made w/o eyepatch?  I hope.  but still, dyeability is a thing regardless.

Goggles in a separate slot/dying goggles changes the lens color.
Yeeees?

Warning to all Merchants flying the skies this day: Watch out for the League Vermin that stalk the dusty skies, and seek to burn and pillage!

These vermin fly about on ships aiming to pull us down to the ground by popping our balloons and force us into hand-to-hand combat, where they will be able to use all of their hellish brute strength to overpower us, like beasts of the sand. They prey on the defenseless who venture so much as lay a toe inside their sandy pit, and recently their raids have expanded further and further. Watch out for the signature rush of a single, scrapped ship to warn you of any incoming League Vermin though, because for all their strength, they're severely lacking in a reasonable mind. Conversely, be worried for your life should you be captured by one.

Jin-Riaand Ammunition
F*** the Arashi.
Jin-Riaand Ammunition-
Jin-Riaand, or Spirit-Wrath, is the Yeshan term for Lochnagar shot. Some black market ammo suppliers use the term 'Jin shot' to refer to improvised Lochnagar illegally cooked up by independent arms suppliers. Real Jin-Riaand is different from Lochnagar in name only, but Jin shot is a much more volatile cocktail, which depending upon the recipe can melt a gun emplacement into a dripping puddle of slag.

The Lounge / Re: Flying Angry
« on: November 09, 2014, 12:12:27 am »
I get upset at incompetence, but otherwise I'm a pretty laid back pilot. I never insult my crew and I'm extremely supportive of them, and generally a lot of fun to fly for since when things get heated I sing and shout battle-cries and other in-character stuff. I'd say that it's more a matter of passionate flying versus 'angry' flying. I'd argue that anyone who gets angry and flustered when piloting is going to perform poorly.

As a crew member though, it pisses me off to no end when the captain tries to blame teammates or the game for a defeat. I can accept it if a crewmember makes that observation first, but if a captain starts going on a soap-box rant about how the Spire is underpowered because we just got sandwiched to splinters by a metamidion my ire will be aroused.

Welcome to the GOIO pilot's club! This has been around a long time, since the game's launch. Just something us pilots have to deal with.

The way I see it, you've either gotta turn into Captain Phoenix and bite the head off of every thing level 1 that rear's it's head, or you do like me. Outright block list or just sit in a corner and wait till they leave the ship. Don't even engage them in conversation. Tarcide your ship if they decide to troll. You'll be branded a jerk and other things but in the end, they'll leave and you'll get beautiful AIs who follow every command that comes out of your mouth no matter how vile or perverted!

The first rule and every other rule in the GOIO pilot handbook is: "Blocklist if your friend!"
Favorite name for a pilot's ship: 'DON'T JOIN THIS SHIP'.

I can't believe you outright promote this blatant deterioration of morale here! Treachery!
All powder monkeys and swabbies I've ordered to get planked for a spot know they didn't die in vain because they served the greater cause by sacrificing their life. Not a single crew member executing this maneuver complained about it to me afterwards.
Instantly derailing the discussion overridden by hilarity. Well played.

Guilder and Canon, you did read the part about me saying these things out loud in front of my wife and her coworkers right?
I have no filter ever.

I bought my hamster when he was just a baby, and I made the decision not to neuter him. Do you carry rodent Kleenex?
