But, as I said, most people don't know about the forum. The community is not being advertised. How else do you want people to join it? They are not aware of the forum's content, purpose, they don't even know that their account has been created here when they registered. In-game forum is mentioned only once as a place to provide feedback and submit bugs, so that's what most people think of it.

I will risk saying that also the dark layout of this forum is quite depressing and not attractive. Makes it feel like a boring place... ^^'

Gameplay / Re: Spire Builds
« on: June 19, 2013, 05:24:05 pm »
I may not be the best person to listen to when talking about tactic but...

I personally like Spire. Maybe because I like the design. Maybe because I'm tired of constantly flying on Pyras and Junkers (oh, and obligatory with gatlings and flacks). Or maybe because it can be a good ship.

As it was mentioned, Spyre can be deadly if it's the one who shoots first. Generally that's' the tactic when it comes to a duel. IMO it's a great ship for tight maps like Labyrinth where it can appear from nowhere and deliver a killing strike. The lack of horizontal speed can be substituted with good vertical movement. I had a tactic one on Labyrinth that I hid my Spyre in the clouds near the ground while our ally was above the clouds. When enemy struck our ally we suddenly raised from clouds, turned and destroyed them.

But generally it all depends on other crews. I don't consider myself a good pilot so maybe I just had noobs to play with, but I found some loadouts sometimes effective sometimes not. A typhon + mercury + gatling is generally effective for long range combat if you won't allow enemy to get to close. And a setup with manticore + gatling + flack can be effective for tight maps.

Incidiery lowers damage,
Huh? Really? According to GoI wiki it's just "+20% increased fire ignition chance on hit, -25% projectile speed, -30% clip size, -30% rate of fire." There is nothing about decreased damage.

A very good and simple guide I was looking for. Personally I would also add incendiary rounds for Gatling or other guns that have big clips.

Oh and of course.

So generally, what I understand from your posts is that in order to stay for long with the game you have to be a part of the community. I know it may be a silly question since this game is cooperation-based and everyone who bought it was aware of the fact that he can't be a lonely wolf here but...

Does is mean that without the community the potential of the game highly is limited? Do players who are not interested in events, joining clan etc won't find the game interesting for long?

So maybe it would be wise to encourage players in-game to join the community? Most of them don't know about the forum (because this is the heart of the community, isn't it?). They don't even know that an account has been created here when they registers for the game xD. Maybe there should be some advertisement in the game "Join our community on forum!" or something else.

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: O'clock Compass
« on: June 17, 2013, 02:46:39 pm »
The whole idea of o'clock system is that you don't need a compass to use it because the ship is the reference. When you say for example 4 o'clock everybody instantly know where it is without searching for any compass or other device. Those are just 12 numbers if you have an analog watch it's not hard to remember. Having a compass with o'clock numbers would be just pointless IMHO.

BTW personally I hate relative directions because they are just... relative. They change really fast. I can say I see enemy at 2 o'clock but 3 seconds later my ship can turn or the enemy can change his position. It often leads to misunderstandings like:
- Enemy 10 o'clock!
- I don't see anyone.
- Because now he is 7 o'clock.
I always order my crew to use absolute compass directions.

Feedback and Suggestions / one very simple important change
« on: June 17, 2013, 02:36:49 pm »
Something that happens almost every time I have kerosene and hydrogen... I mistake them. On a big monitor in fury of combat it's easy to mistake them because they have very similar shapes. I would like to replace this:

With maybe this:

Or with something else. Just to do something to make the differences between them more visible.

General Discussion / Re: I'm not gone

Who are you?

Ah, so in general there is no need to worry that in 6 months there will be no one to play with ^^.

I'm beginning to get a bit worried about the game. I've started playing GoI on April 21 and at that moment when playing usually about 21:00 - 23:00 (GMT+2:00) game had about 80-150 players waiting. In May there was this sudden influx of players caused by YouTube advertisements by known game reviewers. Average number of players waiting at that time was about 400 reaching sometimes even to 1000 or more. But now I don't see them. When I've been playing recently (well I don't play every day but let's say 4 times a week) I've noticed again just 70-150 players waiting. What happened to those players from may? Where are those 1000? Or even 500? And if they left then why?

That rises another, not really pleasant, question: What is the lifespan of GoI? How long will the skirmish mode be fun? Adventure mode is planned on July 2014, right? Does the current game really have content to provide fun for over a year to majority of players? It's normal to say that, as everything, GoI can get boring after a while. I'm already noticing it with my friends. I started to play GoI with 9 friends. After a month only 3 of them are still playing it. Maps are slowly getting known, same with ships. Are there enough ideas for skirmish to be released before Adventure Mode in order to keep the game entertaining?

Because if no, then... is there any pessimist scenario?

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Minimap
« on: June 04, 2013, 05:23:10 am »
So maybe if you don't want to lose on realism and don't want a minimap then maybe a farcry 2 approach?

You get the idea. When pressing M (really, who uses M for map?! x.X)  the character would take an in-game map in the left hand. Of course this would work only in 1st person view mode.

Gameplay / Where is a "Ramming guide"?
« on: June 02, 2013, 11:56:23 am »
It's also a tactic, right? I haven't found any guide to ramming on this forum but I would totally love to hear some advices about it. How to ram good, when, with what ship into what ship and with which loadout?

We can just discuss it here :). In the end someone could make a guide about it.
