It all starts with Suidobashi Heavy Industry's Kuratas piloted robot being unveiled.

In 2012, Kuratas Suidobashi unveiled the first Kuratas robot, billed as “The World’s First Boarding Robot.” The robot was big enough for a man to sit inside and operate it from within, just as in the traditional mecha format. It was operated off of the XBox Kinect user interface, and while it couldn’t walk, it could drive on three wheels at about ten kilometers per hour. It could be armed with a series of cannons made for shooting fireworks or water bottles, and retailed for US $1,353,500."

THEN an American company called Megabots, Inc, made a kickstarter to raise $1.8m to fund a project to create their own mecha.  The goal was to make 2 bots and an arena, and have them duke it out.  The long term was to start a sporting league.  They only got $65k, though, and they think it's because they had only a prototype turret at the time.

Eventually, however, they succeeded in making a robot, and made this video:

No exact date is known, but the estimate of the fight is sometime in 2016.

General Discussion / Converting Light to Heavy

Everyone loves new guns, and they especially love Heavy guns, because there are so few.  That has been alleviated a little with the Minotaur, but lets be honest- Moar = Gud.  So, I want you guys to throw out suggestions to change Light weapons into a Heavy version, excluding flak and carronade.  Some might argue the Banshee is a baby Hwatcha, but they serve almost totally different roles, so it's free.  So is the mortar, as the Lumberjack pops balloons, not utterly tears things to pieces.  Don't worry too much about balance, it's just speculation.  Here are a few I thought up.

Jupiter Field Cannon: A giant, pierce/explosive, 1 shot Mercury, with so much recoil it actually moves the firing ship backwards.

Tartarus Heavy Cannon: Heavy Hades, basically.  Much more fire damage, replace pierce with shatter, high ignition chance, much smaller clip, much slower movement speed, projectile expansion, arming range, small left/right, average down, bad up.  Starts off with low shot arc, but it dips sharply after awhile.

I'd like to see a fized NUMBER of mountable guns on a ship of each type, but multiple different slots to choose from to mount them ON, in either Adventure, or Co-Op mode.

Not much planned, but a buddy and I have a story we've just started, and it has some GoIO inspired elements.  For example, the title ship, the Grand Horizons, is fundamentally a Squid.  I just generally want some help and input on the whole thing.  Feel free to add your own bits on, as long as it sticks to the general plot.  We're trying to keep this one simple, so no huge sideplots and such.

The Lounge / Ship Names

Pretty sure HamsterVI had a pretty robust thread on this awhile back, but that was almost a year ago.  Basically, state the names of your ships, and why you named them as such.  I'll go first:

Pyramidion: Fist of the Unicorns: Named after the armor/band name abbreviation from Halo 4.  Abbreviation is FOTU(S), and the name itself is from a fictional band comprised of UNSC Marines on the UNSC Pillar of Autumn.  Also rams.

Squid: HMCS Team Sloth: HMCS stands for 'Her Majesty's Canadian Ship', and Team Sloth is a reference to my OTP, and the irony that sloths are really slow.

Galleon: HMCS Wanderlust: It's a Galleon.  Galleons were common exploration ships.  Also it sounds cool as hell.

Junker: HMCS Arkos: Arkos is another Ship of mine, and sounds really cool.  It sounds kinda brawl-y, which fits, as I go Meta/Close Disable.

Spire: HMCS Freud Was Right: ...I don't think I'm allowed to explain this one...

Mobula: HMCS Hailfire: I love Hades.

Goldfish: HMCS Gold Rush: Mainly a Hwachafish, named for the golden rockets rushing at your face, and my tendency to ram.  Name changed to And He's OK for Lumberfish (Monty Python, anyone?), and Shaken Champagne for Blenderfish.  Because *pop*!

I think I got everything.
