      Sunset Blitz!
(Disclaimer: All lore for this event is Fan made lore and does not reflect Muse based lore)
      War.

It is with a heavy heart than I write that word.  But it is a word that must be written.

On the final day of March, war broke out across the land and skies of our once proud land.  The great nations, which once prospered with collaboration and a willingness to advance mankind, has stumbled down the deep, dark rabbit hole known as selfishness and greed.

Just two days prior to the first shots of the war, the Cathedral Convention, tabbed as a series of talks which would hopefully stem the tides of war, was called amongst the leaders of three of the great nations: The Republic of Anglea, Chaladon, and the Fjord Baronies.  In addition, the Mercantile Guild, through unknown means, were also brought into the summit.

On the 6th day of July, these four factions met at Cathedral.  While each faction brought its usual diplomatic contingent to the convention, the Anglean Republic also brought a show of force, upsetting many locals who began to fear that their city would be the grounds that spawned death and destruction for years to come.

During the first day of the convention, progress appeared to have been made.  After emerging from behind closed doors just before sunset, chief diplomats described the meetings as hopeful and discussed some of the deals that were struck behind closed doors.  Tensions eased… until another force loomed large overhead.

At the dawn of the second day of the Cathedral Convention, the Baronies, which had caught wind of the Anglean military force approaching Cathedral just days prior to the convention, began displaying power of their own overhead, revealing that they, too, would not shy away from a show of force.  No less than 30 Barony airships hovered overhead in a formation that could only be described as awe-inspiring.  Their ships, huddled in a tight formation, hovered between the sun and the capital building, only letting small rays of light pass through their formation.  As the day passed, some citizens began to flee the city, fearing the worst.  Perhaps they were the smartest of all of us.

Yet no one could have imagine what would have happened on that third and fateful day.

The day started just like the previous two.  Diplomats arriving, shaking hands outside, exchanging pleasantries.  Then they walked inside.  Everything seemed normal.  Well, as normal as the entire world’s known military might staring each other down in the middle of the known world can be while diplomats decide the fate of millions.

      And then, something happened.

A scream echoed through the chambers.

      Then another.

      Then several.

Diplomats began pouring from the capitol building, fearing for their lives.  One Republic diplomat claiming one of the Chaladonian diplomats shot their leader, another Barony diplomat proclaiming the Angleans drew first blood.  No one knows who shot first.  What we do know is the aftermath.

      “Commence Operation Sunset Blitz.”

These words still haunt me as I write them.

Whoever said them began began the darkest day in the history of mankind.  Within seconds, Barony troops began rappelling from their airships under the cover of missile fire as Anglean soldiers began to raid the bustling city.  A Guild fleet, hastily re-equipped for war, descended onto the battlefield and began utilizing the very essence of light to burn holes through soldier and ship alike.  The Chaladonians, a normally peaceful fleet, began gassing the skies in an attempt to disable their fellow combatants, but their gasses seeped down into the city, suffocating scores of civilians.

It felt like hours.  But it was clearly only minutes.  By the time it was over, Cathedral became nothing more than a mass graveyard, a hill of gear and bones for which the great nations quickly opted to stand on to sell their war to the masses.  A fitting scene for a novel detailing the harbinger of the end of days.  But alas, this was no fairy tale, only a nightmare come to life.

Now, one week later, the great nations of the world have begun formulating plans to execute and subsequently counter the greatest atrocity in the history of mankind.  Citizens everywhere began volunteering for glory and nation, for death and destruction, for fame and wealth, for peace and tranquility.

The great war is upon us.  Pray for us all.

      Event Synopsis

Good day, fellow Guns of Icarus Alliance players!  Welcome to the dawn of a new event: Sunset Blitz!  This Alliance event will test your wit and push you to the very edge of your comfort zone as you attempt to play out the events of the aftermath of Operation Sunset Blitz.

For the Full List of Rules and a Q&A CLICK HERE

      What is Sunset Blitz?

Put simply, Sunset Blitz is a four-week event meant to test your ability to quickly navigate and complete each of these four disciplines of Alliance: Assault, Defense, Infiltration, and Search & Destroy. Each team will consist of a single ship comprised of four members, which then declare their allegiance to one of the SIX nations.

Your goal is to complete all four disciplines of Alliance in the fastest time possible, on the difficulty mode of “Hard”.  Each week will cover one discipline, allowing everyone a chance to practice on that week’s event.  Each match will have a maximum timer of 15 minutes, with a 5 minute overtime.  Successful runs that exceed 15 minutes (but within the 5 minute overtime) will be recorded as 15 minutes.  Failed runs will result in a time of 20 minutes. All matches will be force closed at the maximum time of 20 minutes regardless of completion.

During each week of the tournament, each team will have two tries to post their best time, team's choice on map.  Only the better time of the two runs will count.  The timer will start when the referee loads into the match.  The timer will stop the moment the objective is complete.

The best overall combined time as a fraction of weeks played at the conclusion of week 4 will be declared the champion of Sunset Blitz!

            VIP MATCH
            Week 18
Hosted and Reffed By KitKatKitty and MacBernick

KitKatKitty and MacBernick will be hosting and reffing a VIP Lobby every Friday night from 9pm-11pm EDT (1am-3am UTC). Currently a variety of casters from Heldigris, Portable Grump and others will be casting these events every week. These are fun open community matches. There are no formal sign ups since there is no roster but leaving a comment if you can join is always appreciated. Come in for 1 match or stay for the whole 2 hours. Come with your clan, your friends or just yourself.

Tropo and Richard LeMoon started this game mode just about a year ago but the community is always trying to make it the best that it can be. Posted will be the current rules for the VIP matches. We would like to know the opinions of the community that played during the matches tonight. What you guys liked and what may help improve it.

            VIP MODE RULES:

            - A 3v3 played in any of the King of the Hill or Crazy King maps.
No capturing of the point, you ruin the whole game and the lobby has to be re-made.
Penalty for capturing the point: 1 VIP death granted to the other team per 100 points captured. (This is special to Desert Scrap)

            - 1 Ship on each team will have a name of VIP.
                   - This is the top most ship in each column.
                   - The Ship must have VIP in the beginning most part of their name. (Ex. VIPineapple, VIP Pineapple, -VIP- Pineapple, etc)
            - 30 minutes per match.
            - 2 ways to win: 1) 4 Kills on the enemies VIP ship
                                     OR
                                       2) Sweep Win: The VIP ship kills the enemy VIP two times and the other 2 ships - one time each. Making a total of 4 kills.
            - Most wins at the end of 30 minutes takes the match.
            - In the case of a tie there will be a sudden death in which the first side to kill the enemies VIP ship wins.
            - 1-2 player as referee in spectate: keeps track of time and kills.
            - Once the winner is declared the losing teams MUST surrender the match.
            - No Pauses allowed.
