This system would be abused.
Alternative is to create a password lobby and invite people you know/trust.

Which works oh so well with the number of players we have these days...

Well, Niels Juel was a danish admiral and Naval hero who was instrumental in making the danish Navy a powerhouse in the late 1600's

his most famous victory On 1 June 1677 Juel defeated the Swedish admiral Erik Carlsson Sjöblad in the Battle of Møn. On the 30th of June 1677 he won his greatest victory, in the Battle of Køge Bay (though it really happened at Stevns, seeing that the ships never entered the bay), where, with 25 ships of the line and 1267 guns, he routed the Swedish admiral Henrik Horn with 36 ships of the line and 1800 guns

Also another new name I know, Niels Juels, a gentlemen who offered me a slot during the Dev Match, very polite guy who I hope to see more of as well!

If myself and three particular friends are all sat in their living room playing a few matches together, then we play a selection of rock music. bands such as AC/DC, Rise Against and SlipknoT feature in the list.

Ehh, if only I had wifi to make parties like that... I have room big enough for 4 players, I just have no way to connect them...

Have one of them bring a wifi router... or set up a hotspot on a laptop?

Setting up hotspot... Actually haven't thought about this, though I'm not familiar with idea.

I still find the MM system flawed, I have since it came out, not been placed on a ship with a crew that A: were above lvl 10, b: collectively outleveled me...
as I have stated in the game chat (repeatedly!) some times you just want to play a game with people you dont have to babysit and/or teach basic game mechanics... and right now that means having to do custom matches! so please add more options to MM as in maybe play only with X lvl ranges or players need at least X number of matches under their belts!
