To get things rolling here are mine:
Squid - The Bonny Liz
Named after my wife who is both bonny and Liz. She is small, fast, incredibly aggressive, and likes fighting inside her opponents preferred engagement distance. Also the ship is equipped with mostly close range weaponry.
Goldfish - Golden Phoenix
Back before the last patch I had flame throwers on either side. I would occasionally ask my engineers to light them up and flap them up and down to simulate Phoenix wings. Possibly due for a renaming as I now have banshees on the side.
Pyramidion - Mo' Dakka Dakka Dakka
Named after the sound an Orkish automatic weapon makes. I put a lot of chainguns and light flack on this ship because I like the sound of the Dakka. I also have the the tendency to ram things and talk like an Ork while flying this ship. The latest build has less Dakka and may be due for renaming.
Junker - Slim Jim
Named because its hull is so thin when viewed from profile. Used to counter-snipe Galleons ineffectively.
Spire - Every Shot a Killshot
Named because unless my gunners made every shot a hit, this ship was going to die badly when attacked by faster, smaller, or more durable opponents.
Galleon - Vulgaris Magistralis
Named after the Viking Metal Ballard "Vulgaris Magistralis." It is Latin for either "teacher of the common" or "master of vulgarity" which is pretty fitting either way.
Here is a youtube clip of the song:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=reOLeLX0Q9U (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reOLeLX0Q9U)
-
Junker - Knifefighter
I initially saw the Junker in a close-quarters tank role and picked the name accordingly. I played that role a lot with it, but now it seems a little odd as I favour the long-range support role for the Junker.
Goldfish - Gunboat Diplomat
A bit of a late-C19/early-C20 take on a Iain M Banks Culture style of ship name. Most of the best Culture ship names fall foul of the character limit, or require certain sense of humour to get. At one time I did desginate ship names ROU, MOU, etc.
Pyramidion - Midnight Cowgirl
I have no idea what I was thinking, alcohol may have been involved. You can take this one as risque as you like, the double entendre may have been intended.
Squid - Covert Diplomat
A bit of a play on the Goldfish name, suggesting it's fast and stealthy approach through the clouds to deliver sneaky attacks before sprinting to safety.
Galleon - Windjammer
Just a classic name for a Galleon. Nothing particularly original.
Spire - Spire
I haven't got around to naming a spire, it's not a ship I take out of the hanger. One day it will get a name.
-
Junker - Cloud Whaler
Nothing is greater, no foe more terrible, then the Cloud Whale. It rises from the Blue with a ferocious shout, sundering the quiet still with a mighty crash that splinters hulls and ruptures balloons. He runs fore, and his eye is a furious light of hell deep in the sand storms that whip up from the Burren likes Gods wrath on Saddam and Gomorrah. I hunt these beasts, with lead and fire, with the blood and sweat of men. I will sacrifice it all to bring the beast low, none shall ever be safe whilst I live to draw breath and pull a trigger.
Galleon - Cloud Whale
A big, slow moving tyrant of the deep blue who moves through the skies like a lumbering beast, the report of the twin heavy flaks the mournful song of war that echoes out into the heavens.
Goldfish - Hold Fast
I was in the United States Navy, I name the Goldfish in honor of that service.
Squid - Harpooner
Fly fast, strike true, bite deep. It is the prayer every strong arm shouts over the crash of cross winds and report of weapons fire when he sends forth a lance of fire into the meaty hull of his enemy. She takes her name from the Gunners that man this small life boat in the perilous blue. I salute you, Gunner.
Pyramidion - Albatross
It is thought that an Albatross that follows a ship out to sea is an omen of good luck. So don't shoot her down, less you find the bowsprit of my hull buried into your flank and I force you to wear it as penance. (Salutes to anyone who gets it)
Spire - Twisting Eel
She moves fast, side to side, spinning about like a twister before striking out with a sudden and devastating bite. The viper of the blue, the Eel.
-
Pyramidion - Albatross
It is thought that an Albatross that follows a ship out to sea is an omen of good luck. So don't shoot her down, less you find the bowsprit of my hull buried into your flank and I force you to wear it as penance. (Salutes to anyone who gets it)
This brought me back to 10th grade English. Thanks for the fond memories :)
*Edit* This is from the Mariner for those curious

-
Squid - Kyllo
U.S. Supreme Court case holding since the police did not have a warrant for the use of a thermal imaging device, which was not commonly available to the public, the search was presumptively unreasonable and therefore unconstitutional.
Goldfish - M'Naghten
Old English case which establishes whether the defense of insanity is met.
Spire - Marbury
U.S. Supreme Court case which established judicial review, the ability of the Court to determine whether a law is constitutional.
Junker - Gant
U.S. Supreme Court case holding once an arrestee is handcuffed and secured, search incident to lawful arrest is invalid and police must show a continuing threat to justify a vehicle search.
Pyramidion - Katz
U.S. Supreme Court case holding the Fourth Amendment gives individuals a right to privacy against government intrusion.
Galleon - Mendenhall
U.S. Supreme Court case holding a person has been “seized” within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment only if, in view of all of the circumstances surrounding the incident, a reasonable person would have believed that he was not free to leave.
If you couldn't tell already, I'm a law student.

I gave my ships stupid Latin names (after the SMAC tag).
Goldfish: SMAC Segem Fies (You Will Become The Harvest). Terrible name for a ship.
Pyra: SMAC Aegyptiacus (Egyptian)
Galleon: SMAC Maneo in Caelo (I remain in the sky). New character limit broke this.
Junker: SMAC Asinus (Donkey). Yeah, that was back when Junkers were useless.
Squid: SMAC Spes Victoriae (Hope of victory)
Spire: I don't actually know.
I rarely fly anyways, so nobody gets to see my bad ship names.
-
This may sound nerdy or geeky to some but my ship names came from lego ships that i made when i was younger and it revolved around Star Wars. (i was really into the movies when i was younger thus creating spaceships out of legos, i was around 8 i believe.)
Goldfish: Starlight: Named it this as its one of the nicest looking ship out in the gameand it aptly fit its name. Also its lego predecessor was one of my finest creations.
Pyramidion: Comet: Since i come in guns blazin' why not name something that looks like a fireball.
Junker: Nebula: Since its one of the most versitile, just like a nebula being mostly gas, it can become anything.
Galleon: SuperNova: Almost like a typical galleon name since supernovas are huge and explosive.
Spire: WhiteDwarf: I usually run this ship far from battle sniping, isolated and alone, like a white dwarf is.(also the balloon gave me the idea for the name.
Squid: SolarFlare: Since the squids are fast and can support fire type weapons, guess you can see where i named it from.
Basically almost all names that comes from space :P

My ships mostly have fun names
goldfish: Nike - it is the name I allways put to my "Flagship" and is named after ancient greek alegory of Victory
junker: Flaming Bedrolls - this name comes from a d&d related story of someone who kept throwing flaming bedrolls at people - the junker's baloon looks like a huge bedroll and it looks very flamable
pyramidion: Unsung Hero (full name: Unsing Hero (now with 400% more spears!) ) - this ship had the default name for the longest time, and when friends from King's Gambit start calling my junker Unsing Hero I suddenly had a great name, but I didn't want to rename the Flaming Bedrolls
spire: Flying Snail - sort of reminds me of a snail - with the baloon being the shell and hull being the body.
galleon: Cheeseburgers (long name: Can I Have Cheeseburgers plx? ) - galleon is probably the cheesiest ship in the game
squid: Parvus Major - it was originaly called Drunken Fish, becouse it handles like it's drunken (due to its extremely high radial acceleration), but for sake of clarity (ie. to prevent missunderstandings); the current name comes form a very common European and central-Asian bird species: Great Tits
-
I named my goldfish Dusk's Light because of best pony. I named my Spire the Ice Cream Cone for obvious reasons.
-
Squid : The Owls Head
Named after the town along the Maine coast that my wife and I have a family cottage, which we had our wedding at. The town is home to a transportation museum, so antique cars and airplanes(even bi-planes!) are always around. Lots of sailboats pass by on their way to Rockland.
Goldfish - The Ifrit : Named after the Final Fantasy's fire guardian Ifrit. Always packing flamethrowers and having to slam opponents when needed.
Pyramidion - The Bahamut : Named after Final Fantasy's King of Dragons Bahamut. The shape of the pyra reminds me of a dragon's head.
Junker - The Highwind : Yeah I'm not very original... Final Fantasy VII's famous airship.
Spire : Usually a joke name, currently - Chango Unchained
Galleon: Originally known as The Behemoth, I changed the name to The Goliath when I joined The Gentlemen.
-
Squid: Spirit of Dyxy (Dixie)
My dog's name is Dixie, and seeing that the ship was fast and excellent at high-maneuverability harassment, it seemed fitting.
Goldfish: Little Wyvrn
The inspiration came from the old F-Zero X games, namely James McCloud's machine. But being that a Wyvrn (Wyvern) is a mythical, winged dragon, it seemed to fit.
Galleon: Steadfast Allegiance
As I saw the Galleon isn't one for moving at all, hence Steadfast, and Allegiance referring to staying loyal to the task at hand (pwnin n00bz lawl).
Junker: Leviathan
"...it kind of looks like a whale..."
Leviathan
Spire: Derp of Days Yon
I dislike the Spire. No offense to those who prefer it, but I don't like the layout, I don't like the way it handles, I don't like the way it looks. Plus they just seem to go down as if they're made of tin foil. I don't play with this airship.
Pyramidion: Loyalty
I've always liked the single-adjective names for ships. So I picked the one adjective I admire most in others, and try to follow in myself.
It's also a reference to something else... That's all I'm going to say about that.
-
All my ships have the prefix "IAS Silver" because "IAS" = "Icarus Airship" and I think "silver xxxxx" sounds cool. Silver Surfer, can't go wrong with that. And their names are all related to the ship.
Junker - Scrap, because "junk". I know. I'm super clever and original.
Pyra - Dagger, because it looks like a dagger...
Goldfish - Swimmer. Do I need to explain?
Spire - Tower. It's a flying tower. Not a ship. Wulfies don't fly towers.
Galleon - Monster. Because it's big...
Squid - Dinner. For the other team.
-
Junker: Leviathan
"...it kind of looks like a whale..."
Leviathan
My junker and your junker are going to have a little talk.
-

:D
-
half my ships names are refrences.
squid - the enraged ducky. gave it this name after joining the paddling
spire - Eye of Icarus. this was actully the first ship i named after i got the game, i just thought it was a cool name. deffinatly better than the testicle of icarus.
pryamidion - Brave Vesperia. 50 points to whoever gets this refrence.
goldfish - Little jack
galleon - Delphinus 500 points to anyone who gets the refrence for these names
junker - Claudia
-
Squid: The Dapper Cephalopod
Reason-Every one of my crew tends to wear a top hat, making the sky cephalopod quite the dapper individual
Spire: Shiver Me Tibbers
Reason-I wanted a Pirate-y name and I love Tibbers the bear, so it seemed appropriate
Pyramidion: USS Barak Obama
Reason-Gotta show that 'Merican pride somehow!
Goldfish: Goldie Shots
Reason-I believe I asked a friend for a name idea and this is what he came up with, stuck around ever since
Galleon: Daisy Dukes
Reason-There was a picture I saw last month in which a Galleon's balloon was outfitted with a bikini top
Junker: Hot For Teacher (or on certain occasions: Crash & Burn)
Reason-Its loaded with nothing but flamers, relies on pure engineer will power as it rams headlong into enemies and setting them ablaze, so I thought the pun would be nice
-
goldfish - Little jack
galleon - Delphinus 500 points to anyone who gets the refrence for these names
junker - Claudia
Skies of Arcadia?
-
is that google speaking or your own experiance?
-
Junker: Leviathan
"...it kind of looks like a whale..."
Leviathan
My junker and your junker are going to have a little talk.
The kind of talk that's amicable and ends with smiles and warm feelings... right?
Pyramidion: Loyalty
I've always liked the single-adjective names for ships. So I picked the one adjective I admire most in others, and try to follow in myself.
It's also a reference to something else... That's all I'm going to say about that.
:D
Yeah, you know ;D

Yeah, you know ;D
Especially since my Squid enjoys a similar theme .D
-
Goldfish - The Joyous Whippoorwill (Shortened to TheJoyousWhippoorwil after patch)
The whippoorwill is a bird which shouts its name. In H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", it is said when a man dies and their soul is cast away, the whippoorwills try to catch it. If they do, they sing with joy. If they don't, they slink back, sad.
Junker - Flighted Wahrk
Named after my favorite sea creature in the Myst series due to its similarity in shape and shark related name. It makes an appearance in Riven.
My other ship names after these tend to change now and then.
Galleon - Stolen Star
I just liked the imagery and concept.
Pyrmidion - Sharptooth (Sometimes Umbrellamouth)
Sharptooth, cause it has such a pointy front end. Umbrellamouth because the Umbrella Mouthed Gulper Eel my favorite deep sea animal, and the Pyrmidion's shape reminds me of its head.
Squid - Hatchetfish
Just a smallish cool scary deep sea fish
Spire - Skyward Fist
Sounds cool and it kinda looks like one.
-
I've changed all my ship names to reflect my joining of the Ducks.
Junker: Ugly Duckling
Junkers are pretty damn ugly, aren't they?
Pyramidion: Duck Pharoah
It's a pyramid, and pharoahs are buried in pyramids. Makes sense.
Galleon: Steel Drake
A drake is a male duck
Goldfish: Aquaduckt
Yeah, a bit silly
Squid: Aerodynamic Duck
Squids are fast and sleek, so I thought this was fitting
I haven't renamed my Spire yet.
-
Currently my only ship is the Poop Deck Pricker, a Pyramidion that enjoys pricking poop decks. It's pretty great for a new captain like myself, though I'll have to give it up and fly a Goldfish to get that damn achievement.
-
I've changed all my ship names to reflect my joining of the Ducks.
I haven't renamed my Spire yet.
Daisy Duck :)
-

Daisy Duck :)
I've been thinking Donald. Or maybe Daffy. Otherwise, perhaps even chiropractor, 'cause chiropractors are quacks :)
-
LOL could be Darkwing Duck?
-
Squid: Saint Rocket
In loving memory of spaceman
Pyramidion: Vermillion
Day dreams and what not, we leave it at that.
-
Squid: Saint Rocket
In loving memory of spaceman.
I loved his Junker's name "Maid of Asshair", which, he had to stress, was not pronounced "Made of ass hair".
-
Good times
-
The only ship name I've actually put any thought into is the Galleon - "Shes One of Ours Sir"
my devious plan is to confuse enemy captains as the second mate tells them who they're fighting.
-
An update:
Fat Bastard - What else is a Galleon?
Annoying Little POS - And what else is a Squid?
Knicknack Paddywagon - A Junker with way too many different guns on board.
Smiling Snack - The Snack That Smiles Back wouldn't fit.
Pewter Piper - Your typical asshole sniping Spire.
Poop Deck Pricker (rip march 2013) - The infamous Pyramidion, the prow's getting some "debris" from all that pricking.
-
Pyramidion: Shark Bait
Kinda looks like a shark's tooth if you look at it the right way...
Goldfish: Trial by Fire
Usually a blenderfish that had 2 flammers on the side... This has currently changed, so the name may change
Spire: Unwise Decision
Haven't practiced with this airship yet, so the name seemed fitting...
Junker: Scrap Heap
Junk means that it's not salvageable... while scrap can make something...
Squid: Locke
Placeholder name for when I practice and get better with it
Galleon: USS Diode
Who knows.... Lack of sleep may have played a factor in this name
-
K, so I themed all of my ships from Hangar ships in the different Gundam Franchises:
From the recent Series, Unicorn.
Squid: Ra Cailum. I don't actually know -why- i called it that, since the Ra Cailum is a heavy-class hangar ship, but I liked the name
Junker: Garencieres. It's quite obvious when you look at the Neo Zeons and say: "It's a bunch of Junk..!..ers"
Moving on to a hated franchise, the AGE series. I actually liked it personally, for the ship-designs.
Spire - Diva: Now, the Diva is a mediocre ship to be honest, but it has like this "Pwncannon" on the front, sort of like a spire. Besides that it's horribly old and probably easily picked apart.
Goldfish - Baronoke: Ahh, A pirate ship, the Baronoke is my favorite ship, in all of the series. The crew and their captain is bad-ass, and I can't help but feel awesome with that name, especially since i usually use alot of stuff to bluff and juke with it, like a pirate!
Then there's a solo ship from the 00-Series.
Pyramidion - Ptolemaios. I know i know! The goldfish and pyramidion should probably have switched names, but I don't care! Who but the daring Rethburn would try to replicate the ideas of Ramming into a space-station with your capital ship and make it your base. All the while where you shoot out and get your fighters to take the station?!
And here ofcourse, a time-lost classic, it's the one that started it all, 30 years ago.
Galleon - White Base, commonly known as the original bad-ass, this ship housed the RX-78-2 Gundam, and it fought during the One Year War, it, along with the Gundam became the most feared thing on a battlefield. If you saw it, you were dead already.
-
Squid: We Will Die
Pyrmid: We Will Lose
Junker: Lead Balloon
Spire: Pointy Thing (I'm going to rename this at some point)
Goldfish: Guppy
Galleon: We Won't Win
I like to set reasonable expectations for my crew members.
-
Squid: U.S.S. Arrow
Based off of the ship that Captain Magellan (who was a character I based off of Lord Nelson from my Pathfinder Campaign (hence my name)) piloted. However, the ship that Captain Magellan piloted was a class suited to ramming but the name still fits the Squid.
Goldfish: U.S.S. Stottlemire
Entirely void of back story, just a random idea surge from my AMAZING head.
Spire: Korinth
I needed a classy name for my epic ship so I randomly took the city Corinth, and replaced the C with a K, and PRESTO! An epic ship name.
Pyramidion: Polarus
A misspelling of the star. At first, I didn't realize I had misspelled it; but when I did, I kept the first form because the U looked much better than the I. Sue me.
Junker: Illithid
A fantastical creature that is the racial enemy of Githyanki. Totally and completely void of a back story.
Galleon: Yet to be constructed
The title is self explanatory. I haven't flown this one.
-
Oh man...
Okay so I guess I'll TRY to explain
Spire -- Cucumber Kumquat: NateDawg told me to ._.
Squid -- Forrest Gump: Well. Squids are fast right? Forrest Gump runs alot, so run, Forrest, run!
Goldfish -- Lumbering Jack: The name used to be the Omnom Nom Sandvich, but the Goldfish is a "Lumberfish." Then one day I had Monty Python's "Lumberjack Song" stuck in my head for who knows why....probably because I was watching Monty Python...
Pyrmidion -- Pÿrmähërmäfürgër: If you were ever on NateDawg's ship, and we were against a Pyramidion...that's what he called them. I threw in the umlauts because I could.
Junker -- Nautical Nonsense: ...to be honest...I have no clue why.
Galleon -- Omnom Nom Sandvich: Originally named "Nintendo 64," because...well those things last forever still, and "Areallylongnameforashipyouwon'tbelievehowlongthisis," but after an unfortunate glitch...had to be renamed something short. The Omnom Nom Sandvich came from what was originally a Lumberjack Goldfish that was going to be named the "Uncommon Ship" since it's loadout was uncommon, however, I missed the "c" and it came out the "Unommon Ship," then evolved into the "Nomnom Ship," in which...well...evolved into the Sandvich.
These ships--with the exception to the Pyramidion--aren't set in stone and will most likely change over time.
-
Updated ship list:
Pyramidion: HMCS Duck Pharoah
Goldfish: HMCS Aquaduckt
Galleon: HMCS Steel Drake
Spire: HMCS Duck Hunt
Squid: HMCS AeroDuck
Junker: HMCS Ugly Duckling
HMCS is, of course, "Her Majesty's Canadian Ship". So the Canadian equivalent of HMS.
-
My Squid has jumped between Delirium and Gustatory Hallucin(ation, sadly, the name is too long.), cos I think a mental illness is a good name for this thing, and tasting things that aren't there is also pretty wack.
My Spire is called the Rickenbacker, after System Shock 2's main ship. Fun game.
-
Pyramidion: Big Fat Pyramid - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
Goldfish: Big Fat Goldfish - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
Galleon: Big Fat Galleon - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
Spire: Big Fat Spire - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
Squid: Big Fat Squid - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
Junker: Big Fat Junker - Red Pearl - Blue Pearl
and when I hate someone, wanted to show them who's the boss, my ships name is: Let me kill you
-
Goldfish : Victory II
Victory I was my beta ship and "died"
-
Update.
Fat Bastard - killed My Libido. One of my favorites, typically has flaks and merc on port and hwachas on Starboard to be a Fat Bastard at any range.
Annoying Little POS - I don't always fly squid, but when I do, I make sure to be as much of an asshole as possible.
Knicknack Paddywagon - loljunker
Smiling Snack - I'm warming up to her a bit. I much prefer the cannonade to the hwacha, makes it easier to dodge Pyramidions when they're falling and I'm rising.
Pewter Piper - The Fat Bastard is a better sniper. You are useless, Pewter Piper, and you should feel ashamed for it.
Aft Pricker - A PERFECTLY INNOCENT AND APPROPRIATE NAME
-
Aft Pricker - A PERFECTLY INNOCENT AND APPROPRIATE NAME
You'll never hear me judge.
-
I don't know, I might be able to turn that $65 pledge into a bribe and get the Poop Deck Pricker back.
-
I wish I had the inspiration to choose a diffrent name for each ship, but I decided to call all my ships
Crowned Tyrant.
come adventure mode, it's the flagship of a trading company dealing in illegal and black market items.
-
Renamed my Goldfish from "Golden Phoenix" to "Externus Exterminatus." The "Golden Phoenix" no longer has its flame wings and I am loathed to call it a Phoenix if it doesn't have flame wings. Also its the name of Inquisitor Vale's private ship from the Caphias Cain 40K novels.
-
Ahhh the hero of the Imperium.
-
For those few who have not seen one of my boats flying around, here are my names that I really havent changed since I named them. THey tell a story both individually and as a whole of my early exploits in piloting.
Goldfish - Then it caught fire - I would always manage to catch fire in this boat. Probably since a side gun normally included a flamer.
Pyramidion - And i got shot - Got shot alot in this. It was also my first ever boat to fly.
Spire- We didnt survive - Its a Spire, hard to argue the name.
Galleon - Then it was fixed - This was the first boat i piloted out the gate and didnt get obliterated. Thus the uplifting name.
Junker- But then it broke - Love it to death but there is always something broken on it.
Squid - However we died - My first squid experiences were iffy, but by then i had been piloting for awhile. Good times.
-
Named my Goldfish the H.M.S. Nicholas Cage for absolutely no reason. Likewise, my Pyramidion is The Pie In The Sky. I suppose I went for the humorous approach rather than following any sort of logic... :P
-
I like to keep mine all in the same theme.
My ships are all named after Conceptual Fish from the book The Raw Shark Texts.
Squid: Hypsochronidae -- (Shifted Salmon) http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1059/1342622735_8d7a55e4a0_o.jpg
Junker: Ludogranian -- http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1159/1342622745_7879cca773_o.jpg
Goldfish: Serrasalmerrida -- (Deconstructive Piranhas) http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1183/1342622731_1d55fcc180_o.jpg
Spire: Aptiphage
Pyramidion: Ludovician
Member of the Cognicharius family, a species of predatory, purely conceptual fish that flow in the rivers of human knowledge. They are solitary, territorial and see only people, especially the ones they are hunting. It eats memories and is the biggest and most aggressive of the conceptual animals—rogue males sometimes focus on one food source. They are impossible to keep alive in captivity once they become adults and evolve totally naturally. They can grow as long as thirty notional lumens from snout to tail. First catalogued in 1839 by USC Capt. John Lewis. Myths: ancient Native Americans believed that these great dream fishes consumed all of the dreams, memories, events and identities of the people would be consumed and stored within the Ludovician. -- from https://rawsharktexts.pbworks.com/w/page/13023547/Conceptual-Fish -- http://www.myspace.com/ludovicianband/photos/3887681
Galleon: Meglovician
So yeah. I like it.
-
My Galleon is called the Galacducka.
As a Duck, I'm pretty pleased with that one.
-
Squid: USS Freedom - Named after the new US Navy Littoral Combat Ship
Goldfish: Busy Bee - I suck with Goldfish and I pretty much end up moving around the map doing little to nothing. :(
Spire: Sooyoung - One of my favorite girls from K-Pop group Girl's Generation. (http://25.media.tumblr.com/f768aa760475955bc48b82aaa0050720/tumblr_mkjxzn4Usk1qfaphho1_500.gif) She's the tallest in the group and the Spire is the tallest in the game, so there you have it.
Pyramidion: Bow Pricker - Because the bow is where I prick ships the most. Also,
Galleon: Sixty Shades of Hue - There's six guns in total on a Galleon, and Sixty Shades of Hue sounds like "Fifty Shades of Gray" so...
Junker: Katzenjammer - "German word literally meaning "cat's wail" (caterwaul) and hence "discordant sound", sometimes used to indicate a general state of depression or bewilderment or in reference to a hangover."
-
Squid G. Bision
G for gents bision for street fighters m.bision
My reason for naming my squid after M.bision
Is because bision has no defends and usually
Attack the head of his opponent
Goldfish G.honda
Goldfish with hwatcha is like 100 hand also also
And then when I ram it's like a flying headbutt
-
The Red Herring, after the original Red Herring.
-
i saw a russian guy called his ship the,
USS FISTF**K
dont know if its apropriate or that the ship needs to be censored
-
3 of my ships have undergone name changes, due to SOME people complaining that shark bait is not a proper Pyra name (It worked in my mind Okay! :P):
Goldfish: Not My Fault
Apparently, anything bad that happens in game is my fault :P So I'm trying to pass the blame somewhere else with this one :P
Pyramidion: He Did It
Another pass the buck ship name...
Squid: Wasn't Fast Enough
I was playing some squid racing yesterday, and I was prolly the slowest of the pack (I have yet to get used to squid flying)
-
I changed the names of several ships a few weeks ago. Problem Child (Squid), Only Slightly Bent (Spire) and Congenital Optimist (Junker) are all named for Culture ships in Iain M Banks novels. Given yesterday's sad announcement from IMB, I will be leaving them as they are for a while. Gunboat Diplomat (Goldfish) was already named for a Culture ship, although Midnight Cowgirl (Pyra) is unconnected to anything..

dont know if its apropriate or that the ship needs to be censored
I will cry tears of blood if I don't get to face that ship again.
-
3 of my ships have undergone name changes, due to SOME people complaining that shark bait is not a proper Pyra name (It worked in my mind Okay!
Let's be honest, everything is your fault. EVERYTHING!
:'(
-
Is :'( supposed to be someone crying?
I always thought it was one of these:
-
I can't believe you didn't know that. (http://i17.servimg.com/u/f17/17/26/32/15/eyebro10.jpg) It even says cry.
-
All of my ships have been through various naming streaks but my favourites were these names like :
Goldfish-The Aesterium: based on the aether, the greek "air" plane/dimension.
Junker-The Bardiche': a heavy cumbersome poleaxe used in medieval times.
Pyramidion- The White Whaler: based on the achievement "White whaler" which i had so much fun doing on my pyra with a extremely experimental loadout that i loved, so the name stuck XD.
Galleon-The Windcaller: the idea that this ship strikes with the force of the wind.
Spire- The Dremoria: just thought it sounded cool.
Squid- The Falchion: yet another sword it strikes hard and fast...
But my curent ship names are all "Commodore (insert victorian name here)"
for example
Commodore Perry
Commodore Beckett
Commodore Norrington
Commodore Gladstone
Commodore Darby
Commodore Cartwright
-
I named my Goldfish The Fishmaster because bastard, a dentist, popcorn, seven seater. Warrior, this eye pull in me.
-
i called my goldfish the
-TFD- Trouser Snake
because i ran out of ideas...

As if anyone cares. I still have the Aft Pricker.

I think Trouser Snake is innocent enough.. One Eyed Trouser Snake might cut things a bit finer..

I think Trouser Snake is innocent enough.. One Eyed Trouser Snake might cut things a bit finer..
Hell, even that's hardly anything. It's not like we weren't having a discussion about fucking sandwiches earlier on this forum. Anything short of the "SS I hate n1ggers" probably doesn't really need any attention, if it's not meant to be hateful then who cares.
-
One of my ships (my Squid at the moment but I rarely fly it, maybe post-patch) is named the Jean-Luc Canard. Named after Jean-Luc Picard, if he were born a duck :p
-
Pyramidion - H.M.S Naked Wombat
Because, lets face it, Wombats are freaking awesome and the idea of a naked one is bloody terrifying. In all honesty, I have no idea where the name came from, it just poped up in my head.
Goldfish - The Doily Blanket
Because the Carronade Setup I tend to go with turns the enemy's Bloon into one.
Squid - Belle Shamhartoth
After Bel Shamharoth, an eldritch horror from the Discworld books. She's a Lady, hence the Belle.
Junker - Rubbish Bin
Shouldn't need any explanation, but also because I don't know how to fly one properly, thus a Junker flown by me definitely deserves the name.
Spire - The Surly Queen
After a webcomic I read, it just seemed to fit the ship.
Galleon - Sixteen Tons
After the song by Tennessee Ernie Ford, because she's a big girl.
-
Squid: -G- not a table
Pyramidion: probably a chair
Galleon: -G- Minnow Bait
Junker: coffee table
Spire: lamp
Goldfish: Spire
-
Squid - Belle Shamhartoth
After Bel Shamharoth, an eldritch horror from the Discworld books. She's a Lady, hence the Belle
Feet of clay, and the few books about Death, music and his apprentice greatly amused me. Cherry little bottom lol.
-
Galleon - Negotiator
Because any time I get anything big I name it after diplomatic terms as a sick little joke. Negotiator is my favorite
Goldfish - Hornet
Since X3 I've always named fast, pointy ships the Hornet since I have Spheksophobia. I hope to make everyone have that fear when they verse me since it scares the heck out of me!
Junker - Rotting Pelican
Any die-hard Simpson's fan might get this reference. During a certain episode Homer is forced to become a member of a fishing boat searching for Yum Yum Fish. I need a life.
Pyramidion - Umbra Lamina
Back in Beta when the Pyramidion came out it was the most overpowered ship ever to hit GoIO. It had the second best tank, third best speed, second best turning and tied for second in firepower. Longside this it was also designed for ramming meaning anything less than a Galleon it would rip apart and against Galleons it would just get into its blindspot in seconds. Since it was such a close range, high damage and quick point object I named it the Umbra Lamina (Shadow Blade) since it was the closest ship to an 'Assassin' ship I could find.
Spire - In-spire-ing
...
Squid - Fried Calamari
Nothing really special about this. I always make jokes about turning Squid into calamari so I found it suitable to name mine as well.
ALPHABETICAL ORDER CUS I'M OCD LIKE THAT!
-
Squid - Octopus
Almost named after Austin Powers octopussy but decided that it may be a bit vulgar. so sticke with the pun. Squid-octopus get it?
Goldfish - Serenity
Have you every seen firefly? NO... go see it then come back
Spire - Woodwasp
A fictional insect from the edge chronicles. Because its a sniping ship that darts about but in close those manicores have a real sting.
Junker - Thar She Blows
Named because you cant catch enemy ships and watch as your teammates blow them up
Pyramidion - Ramming is peace
A peace ship equipped with guns that are not made to harm such a beacon flare guns and harpoons. (she still kills though)
Galleon - Destructor
You get what iyou see. Destructor my name destructor by nature.
-
Mine are all puns:
Quackentosh
The Flying Duckman, yes coldcurse, that's a pun on you.
Quack of Doom
Quackpot
And then the SS Totally Meta Pyra, which is some stupid loadout I want to play like all harpoon
-
Wow, I've never seen the Quackentosh out in the wild, but let me say that that is an awesome name. Salute for that.
-
Pyramidion - Krabbe's Kestrels
A term of endearment for my ship and crew that won four matches in a row. We at one point in the fourth match were taking fire from two goldfish and some how we survived. In some kind of miraculous feat of engineering, gunnery and captaincy we killed both ships in a prolonged firefight.
-
Well here they are...
Goldfish(flagship): Vanilla Ice's Bohemian Lovechild
Reason: I watched the Adam Sandler movie 'That's My Boy' one day and Vanilla ice acts in it. I then thought of the name Vanilla Ice's African lovechild, was listening to Queen at the time and jazzed up the name to become the one and only VIBL.
Pyra: The Sensual Hippopotamus
Reason: It started off as the Dirty Hippopotamus but i thought the Sensual sounded more classy.
Junker: Three Tit's Mcgee
Reason: For some reason it reminds me of the three boobed girl for Total Recall.
Galleon: HMAS Man-Panties
Reason: It used to be the Ambidextrous Pimpslap because of the heavy guns on either side but then muse reduced the character limit so i named it the 'CBF naming this' ... and then for some reason thought 'man-panties' sounded funny.
Squid: HMAS Goat Explosion
Reason: I knew a band named Goat Explosion and i thought that it was the coolest name in the history of mankind.
Spire: HMAS Fully Erect
Reason: The shape of the spire ...durr
If a dev is reading this please don't take away my ship names... with your character limit you already reduced the mighty Lovchilde to the V.I.B.L(in game) and you also took my heavy flak cannon from me.... these names are all i have left
-
True fact: the flak nerf, as necessary as it was, was partially responsible for the collapse of SMAC.
-
I'm very disappointed I haven't seen any ducks with a ship named Marvin
-
Spire
The Pillar of Autumn
Mostly because it sounds cool, and its a SPIRE.
Also, reference.
Pyramidion
The Hard Hitter
Its laced with explosive cannons and stuff. Im not very creative.
Galleon
The Juggernaut
Its big, slow, and takes alot of damage.
Must I go on?
Squid
Little Leo
I named it this mostly due to the fact that it is small, and uses alliteration.
Woo.
Junker
The Sky Oddity
Not sure why I named it this. Might have been because of the wierd loadout I gave it.
It sounds cool none the less.
Goldfish
Gimp Fin
Because finding nemo.
Win.
-
Here are my ships. Most of them have polish names so I will also include translations. Of course some names may change in the future.
1. Galleon - Żuraw (Crane)
Because galleon looks a little bit like a harbor crane to me xD.
2. Goldfish - Podniebny Kurak (Flying Chicken)
It's a reference to the Sea Chicken from the cartoon Mad Jack the Pirate.
3. Junker - Wszystko się sypie (Everything is falling apart)
Because of the overall impression the junker has on me. It looks a little bit like it was about to fall apart xD
4. Pyramidion - Trollolodion
Because of 2 Mercury Field Guns installed in front of it. We call this a "trolling tactic" to harass enemies from large distance and destroy their armor, engines and guns so that other ships in our team can destroy their hull.
5. Spire - Netch
Because of the creatures (http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/square_small/1/17172/1653337-netch.png) that can be seen in the game Morrowind and recently also Skyrim: Dragonborn.
6. Squid - Ogórek (Cucumber)
It's just a big flying cucumber, isn't it?
-
Lol, Squid, the Sea cucumber.
-
Squid - PewPewMcShooty. Just cuz
Goldfish - U.S.S. Nemo, self explanatory. We need another fish themed ship so i can make the U.S.S. Dori.
Junker - Bobaganoosh, MXC reference
Pyrimidion - Guy LE dushe, MXC reference
Spire - Buffy because it looks like a big wooden stake, bring on a vampire level now!
Galleon - H.M.S. Smallpox, The ship made me think of the Nina and the Pinta and then smallpox blankets! History!!
-
Pyramideon: Freckled Crow - The ram puts me to mind of a crow's beak. No idea where the freckles came from, though.
Spire: Roaring Cockatiel - Due to the profile of the balloon, with the raised "sail" at the back, and the stumped "beak" in front, and the "eyes" on either side of the balloon.
Galleon: Gilgamesh - A grand name for a grand ship (that I never fly).
Goldfish: Rampant Sparrow - Named as such because it appealed to me at the time, and I flew it quite recklessly.
Junker: Brazen Orca - The balloon reminded me ever so slightly of a whale.
Squid: Humming Mackerel - Alcohol was involved.
-
I've renamed my Junker, since Ugly Duckling wasn't very creative.
HMCS Anatidaephobia. Inspired by...
-
Nice! Far side and ducks in one fell swoop.
-
Gallion: I like mortars.
All mortars in all slots.
-
Galleon: Gilgamesh - A grand name for a grand ship (that I never fly).

My ship is the great galleon SheLikesItInTheStern
Get a lot of praise from randoms for that one
-
I've got ships named Boreas and Khione. I've got an affection towards Greek mythology and ice themes.
-
My two main ships are named the Cloud Cutter (Goldfish) and the Night Sparrow (Squid).
Cloud Cutter because it cuts through the clouds, and also a cutter being a type of boat.
Night Sparrow after a certain Youkai, plus it sounds good.
My Spire is called the Orochi (a great sea serpent) but I think I have only used it perhaps once.
My Junker is called the Radiant Bee and my Pyramidion is called the Battenburg (my favourite cake). I've not used either. And I forget what I named my galleon.
-

What a zwaene..

My ships are all named "The Badger Major".
Because badgers shouldn't fly and neither should I. :D

I like that name.
-
Currently. . .
Goldfish - Lord Fun Pantsia - it was the first ship i made, i figure i name it something special, was gonna name it "Old Goldfish Dish" at one point for reasons. .
Squid - Sid The Squid - the dude who killed batman so that makes it awesome!
Junker - Junka Funka - generally my favorite ship to fly, which goes with the theme of "i only fly ships i dont make" (sad face)
Spire - Admire My Spire - you can see a reoccurring theme here
Galleon - Le Herculean Galleon - ditto
Pyra - BWAHAHA - umm ok fine so i gave up on this guy. . .
"The Manta Ray" - the MANTA AWESOME - quick name while testing it out with lenz, will likely change when it gets an official name though, if it does change i'll probably just stick to my guns and call it The Manta Ray anyway
-

.... Idk if everyone else knew about this, but I wanna know more about this
-

This is the second time in the last week you've hinted at a new ship, but this is way less subtle. I'm not gonna ask too much about it, but can we expect to see it relatively soon?
Oh yeah, and if you make it crazy parkoury for the engineer (think Squid, but 10x more), I will literally build a shrine to you.
-
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/musegames/guns-of-icarus-onlineadventure-mode/posts
scroll down, was revealed earlier in an update today ! my teasing of what i'm working on has come to an end, now i can hint about more specifics :) even though its all in the making and things are bound to change. i figure i open a can of worms up and see what people might name the ship based on that picture alone when its eventually released, along with there other ships names of course .
and i hinted at it a buunnchh, my fav was stating that lenz made nearly half the ships when there was only six ships :P *is the riddler of muse*
-
Oh yeah, and if you make it crazy parkoury for the engineer (think Squid, but 10x more), I will literally build a shrine to you.
And I'll help
Also I might name mine the flying crossbow
-
Oh my... That... Wow...
Am I seeing a front light gun and four diagonally-facing front light guns? Wow. Can't wait for that beauty
and i hinted at it a buunnchh, my fav was stating that lenz made nearly half the ships when there was only six
Lol, I noticed that. I got pretty confused, and then sort of figured something was coming.
-
and i'm probably not gonna answer any questions regarding the ship though as i figure it'd throw this topic wildly off course! and all the name and meaning behind it all is really fun to read through! not to mention as i said, early concept doesn't mean it'll all be the same by the end, kinda like how the spire changed a bit from start to finish. but it is a nice glimpse of what could, and hopefully will be the ship you guys will be playing on sooner then later :) (i'm pretty far along, i take alot of pride working on ships, which is why i couldn't keep myself from teasing a bit here and there!)
-
Pyra: The Corkscrew; a simple google search of "duck corckscrew" will suffice.
Galleon: Ducks in a Bathtub; one of my favorite pilots described moving the galleon as maneuvering a bathtub.
Nothing else has notable names because I haven't flown them much.
-
I have renamed my Goldfish the "Disco Inferno." It started out as a fun little experiment in using two side mounted flair-guns, but after winning two matches with it I think I am keeping it. Flair guns swivel far enough that they can overlap with the front gun and don't lead to that "just one more shot" syndrome some engineers suffer. As a bonus I can put 15 stacks of fire on the balloon every few seconds which keeps the 2nd engineer busy and away from fixing the guns/engines.
-
junker - The Whaletruck. imagine the damage of being hit by a whale and a truck.
-
I'll throw my two cents into this pool
Pyramidion: Dandy Fellow - Came up with this back in beta, stuck with the wonderful name since, basically shaped the rest of my ships (and even clan formation).
Galleon: Silly Sauce - Adjective noun to carry on the Fellow's theme.
Squid: Crumpet - At the time of naming I'd bribe my crews with virtual crumpets.
Junker: Excellent Moustache - I always wanted to put a giant moustache and monacle on the front of a junker. It has 5 flamers. No idea if it's still possible to play well. Anyone want to help test?
Spire: Unicycle - Named in honor of a coment by Mawdjulus during a match I was dual spiring with Captain Roy. "They're like dainty unicycles soaring through the sky!"
Goldfish: BLENDERFIST SHAWTGUN!? - The one ship I have that doesn't fit my theme. Long story short; Mawd and I were drunk.
-
Pyramidion>Egyptian queen> cuz pyramidion sounds egyptian and it was the first evar name i came up with
Galleon>Mystic Chocolate> Yeah IDK... my group of friends and I are = Cheesy Crackers, Fishnchip, Chicken Nuggets and Captain vegemite.... so food themed :P
Goldfish>Flaming Wombat> Flamethrowers... 'nuf' said (And i always wanted to have a planetside 2 outfit called "The flaming wombats" but GOI will have to do)
Junker>We be whalers/Junky> "We be whalers" is the all harpoon loadout which is AMAZING. "Junky" cuz couldnt think of anything
Spire>DeathStar on a Stick> Because it totally resembles a death star. It deals loads of damage but its weak because they left more than one exhaust port open (Stupid storm troopers)
Squid>I haven't even looked at the squid> Yeah i haven't even piloted/bothered naming it
-
Renamed my Goldfish the TreeMeister, because I count on it.
-
The names of my ships are taken from starships in the Star Ocean series of games :)
-
Just name them all COME ON BARNY.
-
Named my ships after late Medieval and early Renaissance era cavalry except the Junker and Galleon, who are named after the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller, respectively. They have names that mostly suit the roles I play with them.
Squid - Hobelar
Junker - Templar
Goldfish - Hussar
Spire - Cavalier
Pyramidion - Lancer
Galleon - Hospitaller
-
IVe gone nerdy with mine and named them after pokemon. I picked pokemon of the typing i think fits them best and then picked a pokemon out of that typing that seemed to in some way fill the roll of that ship...
Junker: Goes between two names. Kingler becuase its my favorite pokemon... and my favorite ship.. Or Lairon It seems to be a defensive ship and Offenively does alright. Just like steel types.
Goldfish: Goldeen. For obvious reasons I guess... I als gave it the hellhound. popping balloons and being up peoples asses.. Kinda gives me the impressoin of a Horn...
Pyramidion: Rhyhorn. Rock types are very offenive but have good defence and health and the pyramidions hull is fairly high So it seemed fitting
Squid: Beedrill. Its delicate. easy to kill and More of a nusance than a real threat
Spire: Glalie Ice types are one of the easist things to kill in pokemon. But also are the type that do some of the most damage. Seems fitting for spire...
Galleon: Snorlax I picked more for the pokemon than the typing. Snorlax Has HUGE amount of hitpoint and Can do some serious damage in a hurry. But getting to act first is a problem. Just like the Galleon
-
Junker: Daft Dunk: There is a youtuber named "Dunkey" and he covered Daft Punks "Get Lucky" with his song "Get Dunkey." In the comments he listed the band as "Daft Dunk." There was also a video called "Dunkey Slam House" and one by another guy called "Dunk Squad." So both are League of Legends references. And I love Daft Punk.
Pyramidian: Scalley Swagger: Came up with this one during the beta when I pretended I was a sky pirate. Came from "Scalley Wagger."
-
Okay, here are my ship names:
Spire: dark skies bombard. Named this after the fact that i have nothing but banshee and Artemis and lumberjack on it, and that it can shoot a lot of missiles. A lot.
Junker: incendiary unicorn. An in-joke with friends, plus it has a front merc and flamers ( yes it is terrible, just because it is my flagship doesn't mean it's good. in fact that's why it's my flagship. I don't use my flagship in mere pubs. Not that I play anything but pubs.) also my flagship, if you didn't know.
-
Pyramidion - Bridget Blindside.
Bridget because it has a bridge-like attachment (the top deck). Blindside because it has a side without guns and the hull is exposed. I've always wished this was my real-life name although that would imply the lack of an eye.
Junker - SG Squashboard.
SG stands for side-guns. Squashboard because its a thin little ship, which the designer undoubtedly squashed for effect. Genius.
Galleon - The Skybound Wagoner.
I feel all-powerful whenever someone drives me around in a wagon and I'm holding a watergun shooting water at strangers as I'm carried down the street.
Goldfish - The Vengeful Tadpole
-
Squid: Shinryaku or Black Maria
Shinryaku means "invade" and speaks of the flying style used. From Squid Girl because well, my ship is a squid. Black Maria flies as a sign of respect for the original Black Flight of WWI Royal Naval Air Service No.3 Aerodrome. RNAS pilots never got the respect they deserved compared to the RFC during WWI.
Pyramidion: Furugoori or Broken Blade, or Zukamidion
Furugoori is named after Kona Furugoori a character in Robotic's Notes. Shes a little wacky in personality and unpredictable. Perfect for CQC and long range combo capability. Broken Blade being from the Broken Blade anime movies. Typically it runs a CQC loadout because the Delphine does not really have long range capability in the movies and relies a lot on CQC fighting. Zukamidion when Zuka is on board.
Junker: Junker Art Online
Parody of Sword Art Online. Flexible ship with never a solid build. Kinda like where SAO's characters go from swords to magic and then to guns.
Goldfish: El Psy Congroo
Rarely used, quote is from Stein's Gate. What Kyoma says as his code word.
Spire: Druaga or Fecal Matter
Druaga being from the Tower of Druaga anime and Fecal Matter because...well thats what Spires are good for right now
Galleon: Suzumiya, Fecal Flinger, Zukaflinger
Suzumiya from Haruhi Suzumiya. Fecal Flinger when I goof around with dual Jacks and pretend I'm flinging Spires at enemies. Zukaflinger when Zuka is on board.
-
Goldfish - Batman
It's the hero guns deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
Squid - Juno
"To aid, benefit" - Irony
Galleon - Her Majesty's Navy
Armada in a single ship, with all the maneuverability of a armada trying to occupy a single space.
Junker - Venucian Might
Because Venus is an awesome planet. And I don't believe in S.
Pyramidion - The Pointy End
Shameless Game of Thrones reference
Spire - Royal Rag
I don't fly Spires.
-
Pyramidion — The Furious Vakari
If you fly with me, you know she's the most well-oiled machine in the skies! Originally came to be because the word Vakarian was banned, thus preventing Vakarian's Fury from being a thing. Named after my favorite Turian on the Citadel (more gorgeous than Rivendell). She's battle-hardened with the Reach of the gods, but she cannae turn worth a quad.
Goldfish — Pillar of Awesome
A stolen Halo reference, she's aptly named because she's got outrageous firepower in a single direction. Originated back before the lumberjack had an arming time, when you could pin anything to the ground regardless of range. Oh the glory days.
Squid — Thane of Whiterun
Ah the Thane, a masshup of Thane Krios and Skyrim. She's got the Flexibility to match the Vakari and all the commanding glory of a Thane!
Junker — Glory of Khar'Shan
The Junker always seemed the most Pirate-like to me, aside from the Galleon. She's a pitiful mashup of used parts and glorious design decisions, something you'd expect from skypirates! Aptly named because she carries herself with the awful swagger that we've come to expect from the Batarian Hegemony.
Spire — Indomitable
The Indomitable was once a glorious vessel, capable of single-handedly scorning scores of foes! She suffered a bad fall, and is now regulated to the role of glass cannon and general insult flinger. Desperate for attention, she's prone to random acts of furious ramming.
Galleon —MSV Hugo Gernsback
Another Mass Effect reference, the Hugo is duly named because I often perform maneuvers which most deem physically impossible with little regard for the crew's sanity. She'll colonize you good.
-
I Recently named my Junker The Fat Manatee, cause that's what I see it as.
-
I only have one ship named.
The ship is my Goldfish and it's called "Deadman's Hope"
The reasoning behind the name is simple; I can't pilot to save my life, and myself and crew usually die really fast :D
-
I'm quite a fan of Norse mythology, so I named each of my ships after one of the nine worlds.
Pyramidion: Svartalfheim
Home of Dark elves, destruction etc.
Junker: Niflheim
Realm below Helheim (basically hell), full of junk etc.
Spire: Asgard
Highest realm, Spires are tall
Goldfish: Midgard
Middle realm, run-of-the-mill
Squid: Alfheim
Elves, fast, nimble
Galleon: Jotunheim
Realm of giants, Galleons are large
-
Junker: Maelstrom
Inspired by the Matari 'Maelstrom' battleship from EvE, the race's ships all look like scraps of metal put together, and this battleship is considered one of the most versatile, just I think of the Junker, a very versatile ship.
Goldfish: Schism
Inspired by the game with the same name, it's a game like Cyan's MYST and it had some airships very similar to the goldie.
Pyramidion: Abaddon
Abaddon, in hebrew, is a place of destruction, just like the Pyramidion is a destructime machine of death.
Spire: Myst
The Spire is a puzzle to me, so I guess the name of one of my favorite puzzle games (despite never finishing it >.<) is fitting. It's all weird and tall and it reminds me of the places in Myst's worlds.
-
Goldfish: USS Enterprise
My favorite ship, and it comes with the username.
Squid: Ricky Bobby
Because if you're not first, you're last.
Pyramidion: LEEEERRRROOOYYY
I ran all gat, and a friend of mine (In his Pyra christened the "JEEENNNKKKINNNSS") ran mortars and we blindly rushed into battle.
Galleon: Fighting Fire
Early in my experience with the game, I was having trouble taking down a quad-manticore Galleon, so I tried fighting fire with fire. It failed miserably, but the name stuck.
Spire: Tire
It rhymes.
-
My ships are an odd brew of Culture, some British, all strange.
Pyramidion-The Black Lagger. A delicious pun on Rowan Atkinson's Blackadder, and it originates from a game with Lehran, Cul and some other fine fellows in which we managed to win despite me disconnecting around 8 times. Upon reconnect (which is often) 'Blacklagger Connects Again!' can be heard.
Squid- Grabbin' Pills. An ironic mention to the two situations in which health is not an abundant resource. While there aren't zombies in Guns, I do love it when some co-captains change their ship name to 'Pills Here!'
Galleon- Gangplank A mention to the only non-scurvy ridden pirate to ever sail these air currents. That, and he heavily reminds me of RethBurn, simply because he was his Skype profile picture for a month.
Goldfish- Gandalf's Beard A mention to the old Wizard himself, I chose this as the trail of rockets from the Hwacha is almost as long, but half as powerful, as that white beard.
Junker- Change to Engineer I doubt the survivability of Junkers without 3 Engineers, and calling the ship such helps the newer players understand my reasoning.
Spire-Glass Cannon Epitome of the Spire.
-
Junker - Revenant
Its dead pieces of other ships...plus it sounds cool :p
Pyramidion - Crimson Chin
Here comes, the Crimson Chin! *RAM*
Squid - Scorpion
Fast little bastard that disables prey with claws (Gatling Gun), then finishes it off with a sting (swing around to use mortar). It also breathes fire from its ass (flame thrower)
I've been playing with names for the others, I'll get back to you on them.
-
Junker- Change to Engineer I doubt the survivability of Junkers without 3 Engineers, and calling the ship such helps the newer players understand my reasoning.
That may be my new favorite ship name because it epitomizes what a captain should expect from his crew.

I've been flying my junker a lot recently, It's pretty durable, someone described it as the Galleons little cousin during a game a while back.
-
I named my Galleon The Gentleman's Teabag because it's actually a very dirty joke hidden inside a dapper reference.

I've been flying my junker a lot recently, It's pretty durable, someone described it as the Galleons little cousin during a game a while back.
Someone in one of my games called it the Pocket Galleon.
-
Goldfish: HMCS Duck Surprise
High-five to anybody who gets the reference.
Mobula: HMCS Double Corner
Anybody to whom I haven't explained this name but understands how it's a duck reference gets three high-fives.
-
All my ships are named after Venetian boats and ships, both current and of the past, loosely based on their appearence...
So we have the Bucintoro, which was the galley of the Doge, my Galleon.
Squid: Cacciapesca, a small boat used to hunting and fishing in the lagoon.
Junker: Patana, a square-ish flat bottom boat used for transportation.
Pyramidion: Sandalo, a pointy boat... and this is where the parallels start falling apart...
Goldfish: Topa... yeah it's not even close to the real boat...
-
Pyramidion: SS Dakka Dakka Dakka
When you fly with 3 gatling gunks (and a flakk) you have lots of fire power, or simple lots of Dakka, as ork would say. Thus the name. Also I like to scream "more dakka!" when near a enemy ship. Some savvy crew members yell "Waaah" during combat, its a very orkish ship.
Squid: Bieber Fever
Like Bieber this ship is annoying and can drive you mad, unlike Bieber it has flamethrowers.
-
Pyramidion: SS Dakka Dakka Dakka
Can never have enough Dakka!
-
I'm gonna name my Mobula Puffa Feesh Because because
Or if I'm feeling serious Bridge Of Sighs
-
Or if I'm feeling serious Bridge Of Sighs
Why, Is your ship the last thing a prisoner sees? Or is it made of majestic white limestone?

now that I got more into the game and all that I decided to change my ship names around a bit, though I mainly play Junker and Goldfish anymore, maybe Spire..
so I named the, Myst, Riven and Exile respectively. All of which are names of games from the Myst series, the only ship with a special reasoning behind the specific name, is my Goldfish, Riven's defining figure was definately that giant sword at the place you started the game, I use my Goldfish as a sword so I choose this name for it.
-
all mine are named after Star Wars ships that have simiar sihouettes, engine configurations or roles.

Junker of destiny?
No, Junker of Cake.
Oh, by the way, my Mobula is named "Man 'O War" after that forum discussion.

My crew was not happy with the name "Bieber Fever", so my squid new name is "Sells of a Deathman".
Yay for obscure theater references.
-
I don't find that to be obscure at all, seeing how well-known the source material is for that name.
-
I though that it was way more obscure, good to see that it is not.
Anyways, Yay for Theater References.
-
You might notice a pattern in my naming scheme. I'm quite happy with the results. I checked with a few CAs to make sure it wasn't bannable, so I think I'm good.
Galleon- "Full of Ship"
Squid- "Ship Happens"
Junker- "Jack Ship"
Pyra- "Oh Ship"
Spire- "Scared Shipless"
Mobula- "Bullship"
Goldfish- "Blame Fault" -This doesn't follow the naming scheme. It's basically a combination of two of Shink's ships' names, which I felt was appropriate since I stole the loadouts for it from him. If I think of a better "Ship" name for it, I may use that instead.

Squid: "Squid"
Pyramidion: "Squid"
Goldfish: "Squid"
Junker: "Squid"
Spire: "Squid"
Galleon: "Pyramidion"
Why? Wasn't my idea, a bug did it. ::)
Manta Ray: "Mobula"
-
Manta Ray: "Mobula"
Love it
-
Pyramidion: Serenity. Go watch Firefly.
Junker: Rack City. I could say it's because it has two levels of gun racks, but it's mostly that I was listening to Tyga's "Rack City" when flying it.
Galleon: Womp Womp. It's the sound I generally make when it dies. It's so big, when you watch it explode the only thing you can really say is "womp, womp."
Goldfish: Nemo. It's the first name that came to mind when I thought of a fish. Yeah, I'm uncreative.
Squid: C.R.E.A.M. DMaximus, Plasmarobo, and I thoroughly enjoy rapping along to Wu-Tang Clan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjZRAvsZf1g (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjZRAvsZf1g) Similar to the junker's reasoning.
Spire: Power Tower. I thought it sounded clever. Afterwards I realized the spire achievement is actually called Power Tower, so now I feel less clever.
Mobula: Pancake. It looks like a pancake.
-
Goldfish: And then it caught fire.
-
Goldfish: And then it caught fire.
Sounds familiar. Hmm.
-
I've changed my spire to: "And then it caught spire."
puns ftw.
-
Junker: And then it broke
Galleon: Next it was rebuilt
Squid: Yet we died
Spire: We couldn't survive
Pyramidion: Then I got shot
-
Stop, stop, stop. This thread has gotten too Silly.
-
Zill, what did you name your Mobula?
-
Eventually we sank.
-
Nice one. Well played good sir.
-
I've actually put together a ship named the Bebop. A basic Pyramidion with varying loadouts depending on the match.
-
Galleon - Pew pew pew!
That should point itself out.
Mobula - Engine Fortyfive
Full speed ahead! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzS5-AjJ71E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzS5-AjJ71E))
Squid - HMS Desctruction
Because Harpoon + Flamethrower equals Kind dissasembly.
Pyramidion - Where yall going
Don't you want my spear in your face?
Junker - OP stuffs
I don't even...
Goldfish - Squiddles
A cruel monster in a friendly (fried tasty) disguise!
Spire - Dude the hull
Running down stairs keeps the belly away.
-
Squid - Professor Squid
Spire - Professor Snorkel
Goldfish - Professor Tadpole
Galleon - Professor Wagon
Mobula - Professor Jellyfish
Junker - Professor Table
And Bridget Blindside
(speaking of professors... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd7FixvoKBw)
-
So with my Mobula, I've settled on Gallant Chap. Not sure if I'm happy with that yet though.
-
I usually just pick something anime related, maybe having to do with octopuses and ladies.
-
I'm thinking on naming my Mobula "Flatline".
-
@N-Sunderland
btw I was intrigued to see you in a spire called "B-Wing" - it's what I used to call mine. Not that I'm claiming originality, but more to say we thought of the same thing when looking at the ship.
-
I would want to say I did, but that wasn't me. That would have been Keyvias.
-

Galleon:
The Flying Dutchman
I'm Dutch, I'm flying, I'm a man, not that original, but I sure can justify it. Favourite ship hands down.
Junker:
The Battlebarge
It's a barge, it does battle.
Spire:
The Faulty Tower
I just love John Cleese.
Goldfish:
The Pequod
I just wish there was a heavy harpoon available to put in the front slot. Still waiting for an oppertunity to yell "From hells heart I stab at thee!!"
Pyramidion:
The Ram Rod
It rams things, it has cannons, back in the day cannons needed rods right? To ram balls? ...hurr...
Squid:
The Squidward
Creativity fail, when the only thing popping to your mind is a bad spongebob reference, you know you'll never fly the thing.
Mobula:
The Bombing Baguette
It has mortars, and I was hungry at the time.
-
Spire:
The Faulty Tower
I just love John Cleese.
Fawlty Towers is amazing.
I called my Goldfish "Duck Surprise" ;)
-
I want to call my squid the Gat-Quack Metasquideon but it won't let me. Hmph.
-
I think we should find a CA to petition for Muse to increase the character cap on ship names.
But who could we find to take up our cause?
-
I think some CA's would want that, but being one you get to see what has to be prioritised. That being said, it can't be that much of a difficult change, but then again, I'm no tech bloke.
-
Spire:
The Faulty Tower
I just love John Cleese.
Hah! Now why didn't I think of that
-
Spire:
The Faulty Tower
I just love John Cleese.
Fawlty Towers is amazing.
I called my Goldfish "Duck Surprise" ;)
But what if I didnt like duck? Don't you serve anything other then duck? :P
I think we should find a CA to petition for Muse to increase the character cap on ship names.
But who could we find to take up our cause?
I recall there was a time where you could make the ship names as long as you wished. Did some real funky things to the lobby UI if I remember right.
People came up with some amusing things, like covering up their actual ship's classes, rather "creative" lines and whatnot. Got old fast though.
-
But what if I didnt like duck? Don't you serve anything other then duck?
There are some maniacs out there that name their ships after Cakes.
Not that I would know.

-
Pyra - Pryamidino, Acts like a tongue twister when you're used to the real name
Goldfish - Foldgish
-
huh, only half of my message was recieved, here are the others:
Galleon - bowchickabowbow, random name
Junker - Get a load of my... well guess^^
Squid - Pip the... Omage to somebody
Spire - Obelisk... architecutral reference
Mobula - The Mob, cause that's what it is.
-
I named my Spire, Red Velvet.... Totally not because I'm a Cake and I needed a name for the Spire tournament.... You're silly.
-
Here's a list to inSpire:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cakes)
Now I'm hungry.
-
I hear those Cake people are recruiting.
-
My obviously-romantic newbie pilot boyfriend and I have now named ships after each other.
My nickname means "bird" in Japanese, and his nickname is Kit, so I have a Pyramidion named "Fox-Bird."
But of course, he comes up with much more beautiful things in my honor. Including "HMS [realnamewithheld]'s Ladybone" and "HMS Pandabutt."
Also I named my Mobula "Fluffybutt." For obvious reasons. Not that I pilot to begin with.
completely superior first post coming through
-
Squid: HMS Last Argument, a reference to "The Last Argument of Kings".
Junker: Circus Maximus
Spire: Eulogy For Socrates
Galleon: Weep For Nietschze
Mobula: Funeral For Plato
All named because they just sound cool.
-
Well, all of my ship names are rather dull and humor lacking but here they are,
Eternity's End: Galleon; this was my first ship I ever flew back in the beta days and my flag ship. At first I was going to name her "Eternity" but I stuck the "End" at the end to make it a bit more unique incase someone else wanted to name their ship "Eternity."
Spelljammer: Squid; Spelljammer is a number of things in the DnD campaign setting "Spelljammer". It is the name for a massive and rare ship, and is the name for magical engines used to fly ships through space.
Twilight's Sorrow: Pyra; one of a few mlp references in my ship names. This one received "Twilight" due to the pyra spike.
Fluttershy's Ducklin: Goldfish; Originally named "E.A.F. Fluttershy (Equestrian Air Fleet)" but Squash was being a prick and was bugging me about having non-duck names. Might switch it back due to the lack of the "g" at the end bugging me, and Squash can deal with it.
Quack'n Discord: Junker; My original junker build used 5 different guns, so I named it Discord, same name change story above^.
Crystal Citadel: Spire; Another mlp reference, and it also fit the spire since it seemed to be made of crystal.
Lady L. Mckennitt: Mobula; Tribute to my favorite artist, Loreena Mckennitt.
-
I renamed my Junker The Musical Manatee, because I have a tendency of getting muse-ical :P
-
Before I was a duck, my ship names were mostly cat themed:
Squid - Kittipus
I thought it was a cute name for a small and cute ship.
Goldfish - The CatFish
I thought it was clever at the time.
Junker - KittyHawk
KittyHawk was an old shadowrun character that I loved. Used dual warhawk magnums and was a cat girl, thus KittyHawk.
Pyramidion - Seductive Kitty
Another nod to KittyHawk. She had an RV turned mobile base called the Seductive Kitty, which itself derived from her specialization in the seduction skill.
Galleon - The Fat Cat
It was big and clumbersome, like a overfed cat.
After I joined the ducks, my names changed a bit to have both duck and cat themes at the same time.
Squid - Duckbilled Kittipus
Kittipus, now with a duckbill.
Goldfish - The Waddling KatFish
I never fly it, so haven't given much thought to it.
Junker - The Fowl Cat
Originally was going to be The Foul Cat, but then I thought to make it a duck pun. Sounds like a tavern name actually. Maybe my junker is carrying booze?
Pyramidion - Seducktive Kitty
Was the 'Duck-Seductive Kitty' for a long time, but another duck suggested the current pun name. Worked for me so now it is so.
Galleon - The Fat Cat-Breaded Duck
Continuing the overfed animal theme, The Fat Cat now has a overly breaded duck as well.
Spire - Tinfoil Duck
I never fly it, but I thought the name was appropriate.
Mobula - Roasted Duck
I put 3 carosels and 2 mortars on it usually, so you'd think it would be the Roasting Duck or something. However, during one of my first times out with it, every part caught fire, but I told my crew to just keep firing. We killed our target, but every single part of the ship was broken. Thus it became the Roasted Duck.
-
After I joined the ducks, my names changed a bit to have both duck and cat themes at the same time.
That makes your avatar strangely fitting.
-
... shadowrun ...
Salute for Shadowrun. Still trying to figure out the system. It's hard to run a game when you don't really know how it's played... Sorry Plasma and Surette...

Now I want to RP.
-
That makes your avatar strangely fitting.
I choose that avatar for a reason. :P
-
I named my Goldfish the ''Hoopy Frood'' cus its just an amazingly together kinda guy
-
Death Weapon Mister Academy (DWMA) Fleet
Squid - DMWA Scout: Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and brotha' I hurt people.
Goldfish - DWMA Fighter: No better name.
Pyramidion - DWMA Light Assault: Speed and attack.
Junker - DWMA Seeker: You can run, but you can't hide.
Spire - DWMA Command: Because it looks like a command ship.
Galleon - DWMA Heavy Assault: I am heavy weapons guy.
Mobula - DWMA Close Assault: Flax, and flames.
-
I finally flew around (semi) seriously in a Mobula last night. In honor of my go to ship the Admiral Quackbar, I wanted to have a name further fleshing out the story of Mr. Quackbar. Therefore I decided after leaving the armed forces, he was able to use a military loan to further his education.
The Mobula therefore is called the "Ducktor Quackbar"
-
Because I am a moron, I made a whole new (unnecessary) thread for this elsewhere. We will now commence pretending I did not! Good day!
My (current) ship names:
- Junker- Not For Hire
Named after a riverboat from Phillip Jose Farmer's "Riverworld" series. - Goldfish- Southern Sun
Technically named after the ship from the awful movie "Space Mutiny," as seen in the amazing Mystery Science Theater 3000. I just rather liked the way it sounded, and it fit the autumnal colors of the 'Fish. - Spire- Because It's There
After George Mallory's (in)famous response as to why he climbed Mount Everest. - Galleon- Henry the Navigator
After the king of Portugal who helped jump-start the Age of Discovery. - Squid- Fortunate Son
Another one I just liked the sound of. You also need to be pretty lucky (or crazy) to fly a Squid. - Pyramidion- Rhamses II
Duh. - Mobula- Stavromula Beta
She's build like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro.
-
Goldfish: Hercules, because Hercules is fantastic. That's really the only reason.
Galleon: Minotaur, due to its size and power.
Pyramidion: Die Nachtigall (The Nightingale), as I am really, really into German Romantic poetry. An Die Nachtigall is one of my favorite poems (and settings by Schubert and Brahms).
Spire: HMS Apfelbaum, as it is shaped like one. If a 4 year old drew one, that is.
Mobula: Letzte Hoffnung (Last Hope), because, again, it's a fantastic poem (Wilhelm Müller) and the Mobula I can rarely use unless I'm playing with my regular crews.
Junker: Liebentflammten. Despite the fact it's just an adjective, it runs with the whole Romantic setting the other ships are named in (love-enflamed).
-

I love all of these.
Haha, thanks! Coming up with ship names is one of my favorite parts of the game.
I'm a big "Halo" fan, so I've also come up with a list names from that series that I'd use for my ships:
- Junker- Spirit of Fire
- Goldfish- In Amber Clad
- Spire- Pillar of Autumn
- Galleon- Truth and Reconciliation (don't know if this'll fit the character limit; if not, then it's Shadow of Intent)
- Squid- Infinity
- Pyramidion- Forward Unto Dawn
- Mobula- Long Night of Solace
-
Nice! Huge halo fan here as well. Though I'd probably give Pillar of Autumn to the Junker. Just cause it's similarly shaped and the Autumn being quite an old ship.
-
Spire - Tea Cup
Can hold some strong things, but breaks easily. I was feeling particularly clever that day.
Junker - Scrapyard Jungle
That thing was seriously a nightmare to navigate around the first time I was on it.
Galleon - The Mighty Air Whale
Sort of copied someone (don't sue me please), but I found the name fitting for a massive hulking beast in the sky.
Pyramidion - The Battling Ram
When I fly this ship, I put 2 gatling guns on the front. The gatlings take down the hull armour while I chase, so that by the time I ram them, they will take serious permahull damage. It's also a minor play on words.
Mobula - The Mob Boss
I don't know why, but this name just came to me. It can pretty much control an entire battle due to it's massive vertical mobility, and it's an absolute powerhouse when you've got all the guns lined up right.
Goldfish - Tsunami
It's fast and powerful. Don't know what else to say.
Squid - Squid
I hate this ship.
-
Squid - Squid
I hate this ship.
Gwah!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who could hate such a lovely ship?
-
Gwah!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who could hate such a lovely ship?
People who have flown against a squid in the hands of a veteran? I still have nightmares about what Zill did to me on Canyon Ambush.
-
- Junker- Soryu
- Goldfish- Amagi
- Spire- Shokaku
- Galleon- Akagi
- Squid- Kaga
- Pyramidion- Shinano
- Mobula- Katsuragi
-

How's that work?
-
Junker - CPP Potkustart
Because if you know the reference you are awesome.
Squid - Calamari
Because, y'know, squid is part of a fried calamari dish? Plus my Squid has a lot of flamers.
Ready Aim - Spire
Because puns are fun
Pyramidion - La Bamba
Para bailar La Bamba
Para bailar La Bamba
Se necessita una poca de gracia
That song played when I was on a Pyramidion for the first time
Goldfish - Bahnapeykdas
From a fictional language called Intaki, translates into Goldfish. It just looked awesome to me.
Mobula - Mah Bola
Because I couldn't come up with anything else.
Galleon - Galleon
Because I didn't find anything nice to name this thing, so I will figure one later.
-
My ship roster has changed a bit since I first/last posted it up..
Junker - Congenital Optimist
Goldfish - Gunboat Diplomat
Pyramidion - Grey Area, aka M***F***** (players that understand the theme will know what this is)
Squid - Problem Child
Galleon - Ultimate Ship II
Spire - Only Slightly Bent
Mobula - Sleeper Service
-
Junker - CPP Potkustart
Because if you know the reference you are awesome.
First recognized the language, then remembered the reference. Too bad I didn't come up with that name. :D
-
I have too much time on my hands.
Junker- Not For Hire
"All aboard the Suicide Express."
Goldfish- Heart of Gold
"Hope you remembered to bring your towel."
Spire- Satellite of Love
"We've got movie sign!"
Galleon- Sovereign
"Look at the size of that thing!"
Squid- Puddlejumper
"We're not going with 'Gateship One?'"
Pyramidion- Forward Unto Dawn
"Prioritization code: Victor Zero Five dash Three dash Sierra Zero One One Seven.”
Mobula- Stavromula Beta
"She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro."
-
I named my Mobula "The Trail of Tears"
I did this partialy because of how unhappy my engineers are when the ship starts to break, and partially because the two lower deck mortars I originally put on the ship make it look like it is crying. I have traded out the mortars for Gatling guns to make the ship more of a brawler. I still don't like the Mobula very much as a competitive ship, but for messing around it is a lot of fun.
-
My ships names, though not used, were cat themed- still thinking of names for rest of ships since joining the ducks- but, The Cats Meow quickly became The Ducks Meow!
-
Mobula - "In Debt To The"
Why? Because in the pre-game lobby it reads "In Debt To The Mobula".
Why? Because when you run into us you'll soon be sleeping with the goldfishes, see? *taps out cigar* xD
Oh and we also have a Goldfish called Wanda... ^^
-
I don't think I've told all my ship names since I've gone Cake.
Goldfish: "USS Pastryprise"
- Goldfish is really the ship I got my piloting roots on. I think it's also real fun to fly. Therefore, as not only James T. Kirk, but leader of the Cakes, I named my Goldfish the USS Pastryprise.
Spire: "Wedding Cake"
- It's tall, and people laugh when it inevitably falls over. But when done correctly, it can stun a whole room of people.
Squid: "Cupcake"
- It's small and can be consumed quickly.
Cupcake.
Galleon: "Cheesecake"
- Sniping isn't really the Cake thing to do, but you can still run a brawler Galleon. Therefore: Cheesecake. Kind of a Cake, but it depends mostly how you run it.
Mobula: "Flatcake"
- It's flat.
Pyrmidion: "Piece of Cake"
- I couldn't think of any triangular Cakes, therefore, it's just a piece.
I'm considering throwing all flares on it and calling it "Peace of Cake," but double incendiary mortar is just too much fun.
Junker: "In the Trunker"
- I'm just too damn proud of this name to change it.
-
almost all my ship names come from Homestarrunner.com
The Burninator pyra: http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.html

and then theres my galleon, Mandalore's Fist, which is named after a capital ship a character i played in a PnPRPG owned, or i should say, commanded all Mandalorians from.
-
Mandolorians are so badass.
Ever read the Clone Commando series?
-
No, but its on my "to read" list. Karen Travis wrote those right? I've heard...mixed things about her, both as a person and as an author. but then again she's pretty much solely responsible for the Mandalorians being badass, lord knows that Boba and Jango didn't help.
-
From what I've heard the Clone Commando books are the only decent thing she's written, everything else is complete shit.
-
Clone Commando is amazing.
Probably near the top of my favorite book list. Not THE top, but top 25 for sure.
-
I think the name I am most proud of is my squid, The Muad'dib
-
Huh. Battle on the Dunes CP where you capture spice but look out for sandworms?
-
Most of my ships in my fleet are named from people in the Greek myth of the House of Atreus.
Pyramidion-The Oedipus (Fave Ship)
~Named after Oedipus Rex, the poor man who ended up gouging out his eyes after finding out what he had done. Also pairs nicely with my name jokingly referring to Freud's Oedipus Complex and Electra Complex.
Spire- The Aegisthus
~Named after Clytemenstra's secret love affair.
Mobula- The Fury
~Named after the Erinyes that tortured Orestes after exacting his revenge.
Junker- La Josephine
~Based off of the old 1910 song called "Come Josephine in My Flying Machine" by Fred Fisher. If you ever watched Titanic, you will have heard this song at least once.
Goldfish- The Flotsam
~Named after my goldfish. Flotsam meaning floating ship wreckage and cargo.
Galleon- The Iphignia
~Named after Electra and Orestes sister who their father sacrificed at Troy for favorable winds.
Squid- The Cassandra
~Named after the slave girl Agamemnon brought back from Troy.
-
Does your squid suffer from a Cassandra complex?
Squid "No don't charge in there, it's a trap and you'll be killed within seconds!"
Ally "You don't know what you're talking about stupid Squid"
Dies seconds later
-
Well considering I rarely pilot the squid, that could be quite accurate as I am one to keep strategies close-ranged
-
Pyramidion-Chikchikkyboom: Watched the movie "The Mask" and laughed my head off at the "Cuban Pete" scene, in which Jim Carry repeatedly yells "ChikChikkyboom, chikchikkyboom, chikchikkyboom!"
Squid-Lapetus: Saw some videos about moons in the solar system. Lapetus was a moon that looks like two moons that crashed into each other, was fitting for my ram-happy squid piloting.
Mobula-Muffin Frost: Not much to say, it looks like a muffin to me
Galleon-Golden Hind: The Golden Hind is the flagship of legendary pirate and treasure hunter Sir Francis Drake. While the galleon isn't my best ship, I considered it appropriate for it to have a legendary name.
Goldfish-Dark Yellow Yarn: Thought people would trip over themselves wondering, "How can yellow be dark??? And why did he name his ship that??"
Junker-Border Guard: Ever thought the junker would be great for drive ,*cough* fly-bys? Well, I did and the boxer guard is the one who must catch people all the while shooting them, what better configuration than this?
Yeah I know not super entertaining reasons.
Edit: Forgot the Spire: Needlepoint- was in a game one day when someone jokingly suggested that spire be used as ammo for the Juggernaut's cannons, I mean, the ship looks like it could hit pretty hard if it could turn on its side and go at the enemy longways, with the "needlepoint" facing the enemy
-
Spire - The Weatherlight - Named after the Skyship Weatherlight (http://magiccards.info/ps/en/133a.html) of Magic: The Gathering fame.
Goldfish - The Legacy - Another MtG-inspired name, this time named after the magical superweapon (http://magiccards.info/10e/en/330.html) developed by Urza. This is the name of all my flagships in games, including GoI, FTL, Leviathan: Warships, and pretty much all games that let me name ships, so this also essentially makes it a Legacy Character (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LegacyCharacter) to boot.
Pyramidion - The Seraph - Not actually a reference to anything specific, I just like the word.
Junker - The Warhammer - Named partially after both Warhammer 40K/Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and after the fact that its balloon kind of looks like the head of a warhammer.
Mobula - The Citadel - Because the way the hull is mounted on top of the balloon makes it look sort of like a castle built on a cliff.
Galleon - The Overlord - If I have a huge ship that isn't actually my flagship Legacy above, I give it this name, because it sounds imposing and plays into my reputation of the residential Evil Overlord in other communities.
Squid - The Heretic - Not actually a reference here either. I don't really use the Squid much. Or at all.
-
Pyramidion: the Sadomasochist.
I'm a Sadist, so this was fitting.
Junker: the Brazen Bull.
Picture! (http://witches.monstrous.com/gallery/albums/C2/the-brazen-bull.jpg)
Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazen_bull)
Goldfish: Device of Torture.
I like hurting people..
Mobula Shackled and Drawn.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4awmrqR3FI (Don't worry, it's not SM)
-
i called my pyra: Painkiller. in hounor of an intense battle i lost playing 5-0, yet i never died due to my pilot skils and good engeneering team.
i called my Junker: Jebediah. in houner of the badass astronaut in Kerbal Space Program. it looks good, it is badass, and it never dies. if you think he's dead, he Always returns. :)
furthermore i dont have named my other ships yet, but i think i will call my Goldfish: Magikarp :P
-
WHERES YOUR MOBULA!!!
-
Mobula: The Drop Bearship -- Fun with a meme! Or should that be pun with a meme? The Mobula can be deadly and has a tendency of dropping very fast (for better and for worse). Also: pun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bear
Galleon: My Ace -- because it's a reliable ship and sounds like Coach from L4D saying 'my ass'. I like the idea of people saying 'go for my ace' or 'my ace on the horizon'. Bart's pranks on Moe always cracked me up.
Squid: The Jiving Sky Druid -- my girlfriend was testing out her smartphone messaging and just punched in a load of random keys (with predictive or something on) and it said 'diving sky druid' but I thought she said 'jiving' which sounded cooler to me.
Junker: Dunka Dunka -- I love Magicka and 'dunka dunka' is said quite often in it. I think it means party in whatever language those wizards are speaking (Swenglish and jibberish I believe). Either way, it used to make me laugh and also: it rhymes with Junker.
Spire: Up Ship Creak -- because it dies quickly. Because it creaks a lot as I turn. Because pun.
Goldfish: Wanda -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Fish_Called_Wanda, I couldn't resist.
My pyra is still work in progress and all these names are subject to change.
-
Ready Aim - Spire
Because puns are fun
This is brilliant.
-
I call her Big Booty because she has a big booty.
-
Squid: Saint Rocket - Squid is technically are a form of industrial-age rocketry, and the ship was granted sainthood on account of its unwavering devotion to God's will.
Pyramidion: Tremble For I was Once Missile Sling - As the name implies, the Pyramidion itself embodied the essence of the Missile Sling within the very timbers of its hull.
Junker: Maid of Ashare - A metaphor as the ship hails from the township of Ashare and fights on behalf of its people.
Galleon: Boatmurdered - Because it's the only ship that looks more like a boat than anything else. Also I love dwarf fortress.
Spire: Tower of Pancakes - The hull of the ship is actually made of a heavily oxidized bronze-pancake alloy that allows the hull to naturally stack itself to great heights.
Mobula: Undead Spaghetti - The antithesis to God, creation, and life itself is the embodiment of the universal truths composing pasta and undeath.
-
Junker: Maid of Ashare - A metaphor as the ship hails from the township of Ashare and fights on behalf of its people.
"It's pronounced 'Maid of Ashare', not "Made of ass hair"
;)
-
Galleon: Riptide - It was the first ship to fly under the Ground at Dunes and might have been the only one that did.
(I dont fly other ships sorry ;w;)
-
On occasion I get asked why my Mobula is named fhqwhgads, or how to pronounce it.
The answer is obvious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=votBDwhTu1E
I think the mobula has a few fhqwhgads-esque qualities. It's definitely to the limit.
-
it's still one of the worst ships I've ever had to pronounce..... on my first day co-casting...... all of my hate :D
-

i love you.
most of my ships were homestar runner references, though i changed my ship names around recently
my goldfish is now called Going merry.
and my galleon is named Thousand sunny.
both are named after the ships used in the Anime One Piece.
then we have my Spire named Red Glare, in reference to the Star Spangled Banner and for the fact that has a Hwacha, 2 Artemis' and the Hades.
-
Goldfish: Bulletpoint - Fast, pointy, painful. Therefore the name was put together from "arrow point" and "bullet." Also, it's fun because of the actually rather peaceful original meaning of "bulletpoint".
Pyramidion: Ever Onward - Because of the charging nature of the ship. Also, this name has a rather heroic ring to it which I also find very nice.
Squid: Jolly Dodger - as reference to the Jolly Roger and the maneuvrability of the little guy. She used to be called "Why not Zoidberg" though. Because Zoidberg is somewhat of a squid, I guess?
Junker: Belly of the Beast - A great name, I find! She might not be very beautiful but damn, she can pack a punch! Also, I like greeting my crew with "Welcome to the Belly of the Beast!", whenever I start a game.
Galleon: Salacious Maiden - She has some really nice big guns. And she really enjoys you playing with them - if you know what you're doing.
Spire: Double Helix - Thanks to the spiral staircase and the long and narrow shape. A reference to the Form of a DNA strand.
Mobula: Steamroll - due to its general shape. I am not really satisfied with the name. Doesn't matter though, as I am not flying it anyway at the moment.
-
As I am a huge huge fan of the "A song of ice and fire" fantasy novel saga written by George R.R Martin and adapted into the hugely popular HBO television production titled "Game of Thrones" I could not think of more evocative, exotic and mysterious names than those of the free cities of Essos. So my ships are named after seven of those free cities.
Pyramidion - The Pentoshi
Goldfish - The Tyroshi
Squid - The Lorath
Spire - The Norvoshi
Mobula - The Braavosi
Junker - The Qohor
Galleon - The Volantis
-
Pyramidion - The Pentoshi
Goldfish - The Tyroshi
Squid - The Lorath
Spire - The Norvoshi
Mobula - The Braavosi
Junker - The Qohor
Galleon - The Volantis
Those are some really nice names! Although I think the proper names would be The Lorathi, The Qohorik, The Volantene. I don't want to be nit-picky though, so don't take it as an insult. I still like the idea. I'm hoping to see a Lyseni and a Myrish one soon!
-
Yeah, some are are derivatives to describe the geographical origins. Others are the actual city names. I decided to do that because I think that they sounded much more grander, paticularly in the case of the Volantis. Although I may change my mind again soon. I really hope I get to name a Myrish and Lyseni soon too.

Definitely can't argue with that!

generic agreement.
-
Spire: Bow Chicka Wow-Wow
Because...uh...well it's already pornographic as it is.
Also, rule of being on the Bow Chicka Wow-Wow is that you MUST go Bow Chicka Wow-Wow whenever it gets a kill.
Kind of like how the Forrest Gump used to go "Run, Forrest, Run!"
Mobula: Combine Harvester
Because I have a brand new combine harvester and I'll lend you the key (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr30FEkfevo)

As the battleships of the Royal Navy are often named after brave and honourable personality traits - I have endeavoured to name mine after some less valued flaws in the human psyche.
These names are subject to change - but I love them all the same. Each ship's name starts with the Call-sign VSS (Very Sugary Ship - as these are ships of the Cake Navy).
Enjoy.
Goldfish: Abdicative - Skittish - runs from trouble.
Mobula: Diffident - Shy - lack of self confidence.
Spire: Circumspect - Wary - unwilling to take risks.
Pyramidion: Misanthropic - Distainant - lack of trust in others.
Galleon: Aristarchic - Critical - unwilling to accept blame.
Squid: Pettifoggery - Squabbling - quibbling and annoying.
Junker: Prevaricative - Untrustworthy - hard to ascertain their intentions.
-
Mobula: Target Practice — large surface area, the wide frontal profile allows for easy hits.
Spire: A) Olympic Torch — Its like a Beacon, especially the balloon, and gets lit up easily.
B) Jacob's Tower of Pun — Full of Puns and Fun for Jacob, as he gets to use a Lumberjack, along with shooting puns.
Squid: The Val Jean — Star Trek Reference: Referring to a Maquis Raider ship from Star Trek: Voyager.
Galleon: A) Egotistical Maniac — Referring to the ship's inflated personality-like feel, and has quite an attitude.
B) Deluxe Paperweight — This version of the ship acts quite ineffective, or at least potentially will be, and as such is basically a
huge, deluxe paperweight.
Pyramidion: Kobayashi Maru — Another Star Trek Reference: Referring to the Dismal chances of winning.
Junker: A) The Creepy Zuka Doll — A reference to the Codex of Zuka; Aptly named, as it it quite effective at killing (or at least injuring)
the enemy team's ships.
B) 'Fatal' Attraction — Mine/Harpoon Junker; name comes from its attraction being only sometimes fatal.
Goldfish: A) Pastry Perfection — Being Cake-perfect, when I'm feeling optimistic about winning.
B) Delta Flyer — Yes, another Star Trek: Voyager reference: As the Delta Flyer is quite fast in Voyager, this name is used in
Crazy King/Resource Race/King of the Hill matches, as of the need to go fast (using moonshine or kerosene) to get to that point
-
Jacob's Tower of Pun was amazing.
-
Pyramidion: Loyalty
I've always liked the single-adjective names for ships. So I picked the one adjective I admire most in others, and try to follow in myself.
It's also a reference to something else... That's all I'm going to say about that.
:D
I think there will be some Fanfiction coming soon.

Where I find? :P
-
My pyramidion's name is Bridget Blindside because before I started captaining, I read a little about every ship so I knew the basics on how each of them worked. On one of the threads for pyramidions, the author said that the ship had a 'blindside', that is a ship with no guns on one side. Bridget is a name that has two words combined: 'bridge' (for the structure on top) and 'et' (and in latin). So basically it describes the physical appearance of the ship - a bridge and a blindside.

I haven't piloted yet, but I have a few ideas for ship names, mainly punning from existing sources.
Kestrel - because I played way too much FTL
Munshot - Kerbal Space Program
Century Eagle - think of a well-known (space)ship name that contains a measurement of time + a type of bird
Blue November (or other variants on this theme) - see above, but a color + a month
-

I got this, guys. The Epoch Condor! The Eon Sparrow! The Hour Crow!

That's a Stupid name for a ship Jacob.
Sounds like a flying pancake or something.

Yes you're right...what a silly idea :P

1. Zukthanization
2. Death by Fire
3. The Third Wheel
4. Merry Cake-Mas
5. Mrau!
6. What Is Love?
7. Burning Things is Swell
8. Maniacal Laughter

11. Explosive present
12. Overcooked Breadcrumbs

23. Explosive Restraining Order
24. Two Dozen Explosions Later...
25. TeeHee... Fire!

I've wanted to name one of my ships the 'Repulsive Corduroy Owl', but alas, it's just over the character limit.
-
Damn, Did I forget to mention that each mine I lay (out of the possible 25) has Its own unique name...
Do you carve these names on the sides of them before you fire them?
-
Nope, the mine launchers are modified to give each mine a name from a selection of brass name plates stored in the base of the gun.
-

I can't believe I started this. (Also, the Femtosecond Osprey... hmm)
I finally actually gave piloting a shot, and the Centurion Eagle has been pretty good to me.
-
My galleon is the Unsinkable II because DUDE DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.
-
I name my ships Darn [Default ship name] because I'm still testing builds in the Sandbox, and if I'm mid-making and someone says in the lobby that they need captains I join to test there too! The "darn" part happens when I get completely wrecked... [*smiley face*]
Good times.

Took the Srihwacha Sauce out for a spin today.
That sounds really yummy - but I can't help but feel the word 'hwacha' hidden in the name is some kind of warning. Almost like I shouldn't be getting hungry at the sound of it, but scared. Very scared. :D
-
for being a training captain I have the ability to get in lvl 1-3 matches and give tips and tricks to new players.
first ship I saw in the gameroom...
"HMS Redtube.com"
I think they will call their next ship "SS Wankers"

Like hundreds of tiny flavor rockets to the taste buds!
Sriracha sauce doesn't scare me. Perhaps I'm not using enough?
-
I'm pretty sure half the people on this thread know it already but...
Pyramidion - Rainbow Crash
Because Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle are best ponies, I haven't thought up a good pun for Twilight, and the theme of my ship tends to be crashing. I feel it is a very fitting name... :D
My other ships got pony pun names, but I never fly them, so I couldn't even tell you which got what name.
-
I hope it's a glitch, Redria - but as I'm reading this the levels below your name are all level 1 apart from level 2 gunner.
I'm pretty sure that's not right. :P
-
What, am I a higher level in game? I swear, the only games I've ever played were the ones I played with you. I'm actually still a level 1 pilot!
But really, I played like, 5 matches in March 2013 when I got the game and it hardly ran, so I quit until I had a computer that would run it. It seems to have gotten stuck on those levels. I already emailed Muse about it now that I have started using these forums. It doesn't do to write extensive guides as a level 1 pilot. Just looks silly.
-
OOOH that explains it! I was wondering how a newbie could know all those things like a professional. [*And suddenly, everything made sense.*]
-
Yeah, I'm a level 12 pilot at this point. 8)
Just broke 1000 matches over the weekend. This game is consuming my life and I love it. Anyway, we are getting off topic. :P
-
I've got some random alien names for all but two ships at the moment. Pyra and Junker. Junker i called Loyalty but since that's taken i'll rename all at some point.
The pyra i've flown a few times and established its name.
Blitzspear.
It's the name of the ship Nemesis the Warlock flies in 2000AD comics. An organic spaceship that can heal and has an extremely strong hide. Pointy and shoots fireballs or rams.

Spire: Inspiracticalamitous - I love having people pronounce this one, it's not as impossible as it seems.
Goldfish: Slow 'n' Horrible - It's a vague reference to the first episode of futurama, and supposed to be ironic and funny.
Mobula: Deadliest Sky Pillow - An homage to the nickname of the ship i learned the mobula on, before i started piloting.
Pyramidion: The Humble Bumper - This one changes a lot.
Junker: goodluckship II - I'm not very good with the junker, it also has mines.
Squid: Slippery Lovin' - Because
Galleon: Tough Lovin' - Because
-
My favourite ship is a junker known as The Whaler, it is the first ship I used and the name stuck with me. I called it a whaler because it looks like a whale and the Steampunk of GoIO reminded me of Dishonored, which features a group known as The Whalers

Get in touch with Captain Lockheart, you might like eachother.
-
I'd request you remove that word, quite honestly.
-
Archi, be aware the game is patrolled regularly by Mod's and even the Developers. Even if you are gay, and the ship name was meant in good humor, it would attract their wrath. Most of us would rather them save their wrath for actual trolls.
-
What if it's because he smokes a lot but never carries his own cigarettes? I could easily see that happening xD
Edit: Cigarettegot doesn't sound as good tbh...

The offending post that Imagine and Hamster have referenced earlier has been removed and the poster Pm'ed. Thanks for keeping this thread in line with Community Standards.

All my ships got their names from Greek Mythology
Squid: Enyo - war/destruction
Junker: Eris - chaos/discord
Goldfish: Phobos - fear
Pyramidion: Deimos - dread
Mobula: Eos - Dawn
Spire: Nemisis - divine retribution
Galleon: Moros - doom/fate
Some of you might recognize the names from a certain game, it's actually from there I named them :)
And sometimes my ships may have some trolling names instead.
-
junker: Cartemis, The Munker
-

[*5 minutes later swipes a tear from so much laughing*] But yeah one of my friends just names our ships Boo [name of one of the ships in the other team], it's a psychological tactic you see.
-
Best name for a Hwacha Fish? The Hwachamacallit!
That's actually what inspired Srihwacha Sauce
-
When I have my Galleon license I'll name it Rainbow Factory, probably my Spire too because they're both big and scary and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRx_iXgLAyw [*happy face*]

I called my junker "The Journey", because it's a slow ship and it will take a bit of time before you are at the destination.

so, after becoming a bit of a staple Cake competitive player i decided to change up the names of my ships, so i'm here to rechristen them!
Galleon: V.S.S Devil's Food
mobula: V.S.S Angel's Food
Goldfish: V.S.S Carrot Cake
Pyramideon: V.S.S Pound Cake
Squid: V.S.S Bienenstich (a german cake that means bee sting)
Spire: V.S.S Swiss Roll
Junker: V.S.S Fat Rascal (a type of cake i've never heard of)
-
Rechristened my Goldfish: VSS Crii'c'et to reflect upon the RP.
-
Squid: Sonic Boom
At the time, I couldn't get this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPC8W672mXc) out of my head.
Junker: Silversail
It's got a big pale balloon, and the name Silversail just rolls off the tongue.
Goldfish: Red-Tail
Named after the red-tailed hawk. Fun fact, the recognizable "eagles cry" that they use in the movies is ACTUALLY a red-tailed hawk's. I think the goldfish is as majestic as it is deadly, and so the Red-Tail sums the ship of nicely.
Mobula: Mobius
Named after a mobius strp that twists around on itself. No real logic there. I just wanted something that started with an "M" because the ship class is a mobula. It also sounds fairly intimidating to stare down from long range.
Pyramidion: Pyre
Burns bright, burns fast, and goes out in a blaze of glory.
Galleon: Brass Shield
I wanted something durable and intimidating sounding, but not really aggressive since the galleon doesn't really chase, and instead provides cover for its allies, I thought Brass Shield was an appropriate name.
-
All of mine are named after skyships from the Edge Chronicles,
Pyramidion - Galerider
Goldfish - Cloudbeaker
Mobula - Windcutter
Spire - Fogscythe
Squid - Edge Dancer
Junker - Stormhornet (named after a skycraft rather than a skyship)
Galleon - The Great Sky-Whale (relevant on so many levels)
-
Pyramidion - JMHX is a Top Pilot
Blatantly stole this name this name off the real JMHX because he is actually a bloody legend. You are missing out if you don't know the legend of JMHX. I admit I don't even compare the the calibre of pilot that he is, but I hope one day I will see him again and with this name maybe JMHX-senpai will notice me.
Junker - Weed Smoke Day Every
Name stolen from Snoop Dogg (and then put in a blender). To commemorate the truly blazed attitude you must have to enjoy flying a 5-mine junker. Was previously called Fort Wenty, but some people didn't get the pun. Now, almost nobody gets the pun.
Goldfish - No More Heroes
Named after the video game. I have a hwacha and 2 mine launchers on this one. If I actually manage to hit you, you're going to need a LOT more than a hero to save you. Was originally named Hail Satan for similar reasons, but the name kept scaring people out of the lobbies.
Squid - Sikkest Skwid
Because only the sikkest lads drive squids, right...? But really, I feel like a gangster doing drive-bys in my squid, so the name helps get me in the mood. Was originally named The Other Ship so enemies would always be directed to fire at my teammate, but that didn't really work as well as I was hoping.
Galleon - Teemo
If the enemy knows what Teemo is, they will generally focus me through sheer hatred. When I fly a Galleon, I want the enemy to be very mad. This name certainly helps. Was originally named The Citadel, but it seems that Mass Effect references have become mainstream in Guns of Icarus.
Spire - Fix the Hull
Had this name from the days when the hull was on the bottom of the ship. Some of my most vivid memories of playing this game in January 2013 are of sitting at the hull on a spire and not moving the entire match.
Mobula - One-eyed Snake
I fly a sniping mobula, and I really feel bad when I do. It's a dickish loadout, hence the name. Started flying mobulas after crewing with a guy that called his Candiru, so this is also a homage to that. (Google Candiru).

I like these names here! I also temporarily renamed my meta sniping mobula i'm using for the 1300m kills achievement, it's now the: "Blame Muse"

My Pyramidion has been renamed the Fortnight Sparrow.
Squid is now the Mon Calamari Cruiser for pun and games.
Mobula is Maximum Ridiculosity. Why? Because my first time flying it was a all-mobula match with one ship all gatlings and one ship all mortars. I was the mortar Mobula, which I felt was ridiculous. (our team won, fwiw.)
Goldfish is still Srihwacha Sauce, and my Galleon and Spire still have default names.

Pyra: Dashing Rainbow
Simply put: i'm a ponidude and like to dash into enemy ships with my pyra. (Sometimes even into allied ships :D)
Goldfish: Ye olde Phoenix
for me, the Goldfish will always be the phoenix, mostly because it looks like a Firenation ship. The ye olde part is just because it's funnier
Mobula: Loaf of bread
Pretty self explanatory. I mean look at it!
Spire: Falling Dagger
I really loved TESII: Daggerfall and the Spire kinda looks like a dagger...
Galleon: Panzerfaust
German Anti-tank weapon from WWII, literally meaning armourfist. I called it that because the armoured Galleon really packs a punch
Squid: Jak's Hellcat
Named after Jak's vehicle in Jak and Daxter: the lost frontier. I really loved that game back in the days. Also, the name is cool
Junker: Scavanger
At first it was called "10% rat-free", but now i can't use % in the name anymore, so i had to improvise.

MY NEW NAMES!.
I actually change ship names like every 2 months. But the good ones stick on for 3 months sometimes ;)
This month, its a Regal themey type thing:
Pyramidion: The King's Hand
Game of Thrones reference. The right hand man of the king, the man who deals the king or queens verdict to the Crowns Justice.
Galleon: The Crown's Justice
Often known as the headsman, or royal executioner. Or simply the Royal Sword used for executions. Given to the Galleon because, its a instakill alongside a pyra. And it can take of any mans head and deliver justice at the same time.
Junker: The Old Hand
In reference to the, old look of the Junker. The old, worn out. Kings right hand man. Also in reference to my previous skill and killstreaks with the Junker. Of which i can no longer do.
Goldfish: The King in the North
Another GoT reference, its my favourite ship to look at, but my second favourite to fly. Thus it gets the supreme title of King in the North.
Spire: The Lightning Lord
The fact that a spire, despite its frailness it can hit very hard, and does well at it.
Mobula: Just Die
Well, mainly. I HATE MOBULAS, Not going against them, just flying them. I think there stupid, aesthetically (and aesthetics is a very important thing to me :P) and strategically. I just don't like them. Many disagree im sure, but that is my opinion.
-
Pyramidion: Bridget Blindside (I already said why before)
Galleon: Skybound Wagoneer - because it reminds me of a big, giant wagon full of guns and people that is flying through the skies. So that explains the Wagoneer and the Skybound.
Junker: SG Squashboard. SG stands for Side-Guns, and Squashboard because the Junker is the squashed up deck of a ship and very skinny.
All the rest are professors. Because it makes them sound professional. And educated.
Spire: Professor Snorkel - because it is long like a snorkel.
Squid: Professor Squid - This was the original name I gave to it, and I couldn't change it to anything more creative. I have an attachment with this name <3 (I am a Squid pilot)
Mobula: Professor Jellyfish - Professor Marshmallow didn't fit. Either way, it looks like a jellyfish, anyone agree? Anyone? Anyone?
Golfish: Professor Tadpole - Named as a reminder of my childhood superhero: El Chavo. His superhero name was El Renacuajo Vengador (The Vengeful Tadpole)

So far, only 3 ships really named but:
V.S.S. Fenris (Junker)- Contrary to popular opinion, it ISN'T named after the whiny elf from Dragon Age 2 (Although I did love that game.) It's named after the wolf that bit off Tyr's (The god of heroism) hand in Norse myth.
V.S.S. Surprise (Squid)- Both as an homage to Master and Commander, and because nothing is better than an enemy locking on to a ship that just appeared out of nowhere and is named Surprise.
V.S.S. Mjolnir (Mobula)- Its a Mobula. Mobulas are shaped like hammers. You do the math.
