Very clever, I love it - salute for you!

Salute for you - interestingly, an appropriately patriotic response. Happy Fourth!

More specifically, for anyone who can't figure it out, the link to the steam group is on the first page of this thread. I'm assuming you've already joined it. After signing in, go to the discussions tab (default is overview). The discussion "Keys to get into dev app" is the one you want. Scroll down the comments until you find an unused key. Then go to Steam, look in the bottom left corner, and click "add a game" and then the option "Activate a product on Steam" When it prompts you for the code, enter the code from the steam group discussion. If it doesn't work try a different code. And voila, you're all set!

Gameplay / Re: 1.3 General Speculation

(Seriously, does no one else find it annoying to have only captain=pilot, crew=engi?)

I don't know what you are talking about, I only like playing engie and pilot. My gunner ranks are the result of some youthful experimentation I would rather forget.

I mean that I like how the game has three roles, each with the ability to do the others but with advantages in their own. I think it adds depth to the game that you really aren't getting if the only difference in roles is whoever's in the captain slot has three pilot items and whoever isn't has three repair items. It feels much more like I'm part of a crew if there are different defined roles than if I'm just filling up a crew slot. If all crew are engineers, it's more like I'm a little worker drone than a daring, swashbuckling skyship crewman, which, in the end, is what the game is all about. Haha I'm not phrasing that very well, I think, but the gist is I like more depth. I agree that gunning isn't very useful right now, which is why I hope 1.3 brings a little bit of validation back to the role.

Obviously I haven't had the opportunity to test it myself yet, but it seems to me, if the only change to heavy clip in gatling is that the DPS is lower (even as significantly as 106 to 69) and all other aspects of performance (range, accuracy, etc) remain the same, this isn't so bad as some people are making it sound. In fact, I think it could really improve some things. I personally don't like ten second engagements, more time in the fray is more fun for me. And, I think something that shakes up the gat/flak meta is a good thing. Double gats are now needed? Bring on the fancier pilot maneuvers trying to get trifectas! Two ammo types are needed for optimum efficiency? The three class system is valid again! (Seriously, does no one else find it annoying to have only captain=pilot, crew=engi?)

All in all, I'm optimistic

You seem to have plenty of volunteers already, but if you'll have me... I want to be a part of this!

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Fully Rotatable Cannons

Even further. A ship composed of two gondolae, connected by extensible ropes (about 10 meters max lenght).
Two pilots. One controls the right gondola, the other the left one. Gondoale are tethered by ropes but otherwise free to move in any direction as guided by the pilots.
One helm has nearby hull, the other has nearby balloon point.
One gunner has a 360 gun that house TWO gun turrets, one to be shot with right click and one with left click.

Of course the two pilots can move the gondolae and extend the ropes connecting them up to 10 meters. More than 10 meters the ropes break and the ship is destroyed :D

Someday, when MUSE has unlimited funds and manpower, they should hold a wacky ship concept contest and turn the top ten into limited time only ships - one week of madness like this

Make ships tip as much as 45 degrees when rammed.
You should definitely pitch that idea to Muse!

Ha... Aha... Ha... Sorry.

Do it~ That might tilt the odds in our favor.

After all, it's a great idea. It'd make the Pyramidion a lean mean fighting machine.

Wait, now you like the idea? What's your Angle?
This thread has been derailed so much I'm inclined to think ..... Oh god im doing it too! HELP!!
The number of puns in this thread is just too obtuse to keep going on.

You guys had better stop it with these puns... You're on a slippery slope.

I think we're starting to go off on a tangent here.
Well, these ideas really struck a chord with me!

(Guys, I think we're reaching critical pun mass, and now I feel bad for contributing to derailment. Still hitting post)

Really guys? Triangle jokes? I personally don't see the point in taking it to that degree. Here's a tip - when you've gone this far, it's a sine you should probably just stop. Wasn't the original post about ramming an adjacent ship on the opposite team?

It would have to be really limited in some other way or the Goldfish would suddenly become a broadside ship haha. Can you imagine?

Also, Spire thread here for your gripes and suggestions (you and your friends are not alone)

Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Game Mode Suggestion
« on: June 29, 2013, 01:59:08 pm »
Welcome to the game!

A brief look around the forums will tell you that many people agree with you on the mothership thing - which is good, because if lots of people want it, I'm sure Muse will work on it. They're pretty active on the forums. In fact I'm sure they already are working on it, since I've heard rumors the new "Adventure Mode" will have mothership type missions. The boarding aspect, however, has been definitively rejected. The problem is that it's completely different from the idea of the game, which is ship vs. ship combat. And, like you said, there are other games you can play for that.

First off forgive me if I do something egregious as this is my first post. I had an idea earlier that I think could add variety to ship choices without the lengthy process of balancing, and make Muse some good money to boot.

Everyone talks about wanting more ships, and the standard response seems to be that its too complicated to balance them. But what if Muse introduced new, purchasable, ships that had EXACTLY the same stats and gun arrangement, but with a different shape and look? I'm not talking colors or logos I'm talking brand new ship designs - at least cosmetically. The only thing that might change, slightly, is the distance between components which I'm sure the most excellent parkour-engineers could make use of but for most people would represent no change. This, in my mind anyway, solves the problem of throwing off game balance by introducing new stuff. And I understand (and very much appreciate) Muse's desire to prevent GOIO from becoming a pay-to-win game, but I think this should avoid that problem as well. As far as the gameplay is concerned, its the same old ship. The idea being that to mix things up players will buy something that handles like a pyramidion, uses the same meta as a pyramidion, has the same strengths and weaknesses as a pyramidion, but looks outlandish and novel.

I think if people will spend $5 buying a new wardrobe piece that has no bearing on gameplay, they will gladly spend ten or twenty or even more (depending on how rare you want these things to be) on something that every player they go up against will remember.

Thoughts? Can it work? Is it possible to make a ship that looks different in an appreciable way but doesn't vary from existing ship strengths and weaknesses?
