Brackets: http://goiocommunity.challonge.com/SCS98
Maps: http://pastebin.com/QRz2kBzH

Stream 1 (1-3-5-8-9-10-11): http://twitch.tv/nanoduckling (nanoduckling & co.)
Stream 2 (2-4-6-7): http://twitch.tv/theobviousshow (Admiral Obvious & co.)

Following text is not important for participants, just some technical information.

Since it came up a few times in twitch chat over the past events and I also got asked a few times. Let me explain how the map selection and team seeding works:
Maps are randomized using Glib's pseudo-random number generator distributed equally over all 8 existing deathmatch maps. The chance of playing the same map twice using this method is 2x(1/8) = 25% (except for the second final, which has a chance of just 1/8 = 12.5%). Therefore to make it more interesting and fun for teams, I manually replace the second occurrence in a row (using the map preview on challonge to know the match order) with a similar map. Similar means, close range gets replaced by another close range, and long range by another long range map - but under the condition that none of the previous two are the same map.
I consider Paritan, Duel and Canyon as close range maps, however I prefer to not choose Duel if avoidable. I consider Dunes, Blackcliff, Firnfeld, Fjords and Hazard as long range maps, however I prefer not to choose Dunes if avoidable.

As example, if a close range map was selected twice in a row, there is a chance of about 0.6% (= 1/8*1/8*1/8*3) it is also the other predecessor, leaving me with a 50% chance to choose between the other two not selected close range maps if it was Duel, otherwise I directly choose Paritan or Canyon. Ignoring the edge case with the 2nd final match and looking at a normal double elimination bracket, the chances of Paritan and Canyon selected between all three matches in that scenario are each 1/3*0.5+1/3+1/3 = 83.3% and for Duel 1/3 = 33.3%. The next case is when a close range map was selected twice in a row but the other predecessor is a different close range map. Since there are only three close range maps, that leaves no choice what map to choose (1/3 = 33.3% for each of the three close range maps to be selected and a 100% chance of each map to occur between all three matches). This case has a chance of about 1.1% (= 1/8*1/8*2/8*3) to occur. The most common case however is when a close range map was selected twice in a row but the other predecessor is a long range map. The chances of this case are 1/8*1/8*5/8*3 = 2.9%. Similar to the first case, Duel has a chance of 33.3% while Paritan and  Canyon have chances of 83.3%. I let it up to the reader to sum up the individual probabilities. Keep in mind that map selection is not exclusive therefore picking map A with 33.3% in step 1 doesn't mean the remaining maps have to be 66.6% in step 2 (however the sum of all chances in the same step are 100%).
Chances of duplicate long range maps are calculated in analogy to the short range maps.
In a SCS with 6 teams like this week, there are 6 matches with two predecessors. The randomly generated maps today were Clash at Blackcliff, Paritan Rumble, Northern Fjords, Paritan Rumble, Duel at Dawn, Northern Fjords, Fight over Firnfeld, Paritan Rumble, Fight over Firnfeld, Paritan Rumble, Paritan Rumble. I changed the maps with the method described above to make it look more "random" and enjoyable. Also sometimes teams played the same map twice in a row. That's because either I didn't find the time to manually adjust the maps or teams signed up late where I already finished the maps and the whole predecessor/successor map structure changed (and I don't change maps anymore when I already published it, new maps are just appended).

After finishing the maps, the team seeding is randomized using the "randomize seeds" feature on challonge, after entering each participant in order how they signed up. (I don't know if they use equal distribution or if they have a flawed randomizer that prefers low/high numbers.) After that I make sure to place (with as less swaps as possible) newer teams with newer teams - or make sure they play against each other in their first lower bracket match (in case they lose). Today I swapped Maenad Ryders with East Chaladon Trading Company.

I hope this information gives some insight for those who care.
