I favor a flame thrower for the # 3 slot on a meta Pyra. It has better overlap with the Gat/morter front and the flame dammage is a good way to overload enemy engineers if they are tanking the hull too hard.

Here are some I'd like to see become meta:

For 3 engi mobula have the pilot bring extinguisher and engi spanner mallet buff. It's easy to jump extinguish and engine fires are negligible. Spanner mallet is great on main engine.

For 3 engi squid have the wrench buff extinguisher on front and spanner mallet buff on side. This gives better repairs at the cost of engine fires which usually aren't a problem. It's faster to chem the side gun than front and being able to fully repair an engine is good.

For a 3 engi galleon have the spanner mallet buff in rear and wrench buff extinguisher front. This gives much better engine repairs and lets you bring moonshine. Speaking of galleon no more quad hwatcha. If you have a gunner use a right side carro with heavy clip. Double hwatcha right side can only support.
My fav: gat taur hwatcha - carro hwatcha. Put the hwatcha in spanner mallet buff position. Buffed minotaur does 142 armor damage and 350 component damage per shot. It has excellent 45 degree arcs all around but a 9 second reload.

I'll try out the squid one sometime. My main reason for taking mallet spanner buff front is to protect against offensive art disables and give the rest of the engis more room to repair everything else considering the front gun is very distant from the rest, but that seems reasonable aswell, namely against carros, hwachas and engine sniping arts.

The difference between rebuilding a gun with spanner and wrench isn't much because wrench has a 5% faster swing speed. Engines benefit more from mallet because they have an extra 100 health (300 vs 200). It's also useful to rebuild the side gun quickly if both engis are dealing with disables.
