Carn already has an axe, Alison doesn't use big weapons, but the twins may be interested. But none of them have even seen this switch axe. Only Koali and Gaige.

Chainsword isn't the main melee I'll be using, just a sort of boarding/when-I-really-need-to-kill-something-undeniably-dead weapon.

Meh, axe to gun mounts. Axe wins, problem solved.

And you can't sever the struts connecting a Goldfish's main engine with an axe.

True, but I can severely damage the shaft and fuel lines. And a gun mount that's cut halfway, is liable to break when next used. Possibly harming the gunner.

How would a boarding axe or chainsword fix a gun?

Well say there is a pesky gatling firing down on us and they don't realize you're standing right there next to them. An axe will fix that.

I consider that fixing a problem involving a gun, rather than fixing a gun.
