How many others have rolled over 1000 hours logged in game?
Stories? Words of wisdom to leave your fellow Aeronauts?
Just hit mine today. I know I've logged probably double that in WoW and SWTOR but it isn't recorded to really see it since those don't use Steam.
Thinking back did I ever think I'd still be here 1000hrs later? Nah, not really. I picked up the initial 4 pack and gifted the other three away. But when I started, it was just to join a friend of mine. He was more of a Steampunk nut than me, so I started off by crewing for him till he got tired of captaining and then he pitched me the captain's seat. Kinda figured I'd stop when he moved on.
Then he moved on, and I didn't.
The thing ya realize fast about this game is that most of the time you spend is in the lobby. If you are only coming in for McDonald's drive through service, you'll only stay till you get tired of your happy meal and then go next door to Taco Bell. But if you turn on your brain, start sitting there thinking, listening, learning...you pick up stuff. What looked like a simple concept gains a lot of depth.
You find out about the hidden menu. The one where they don't serve you ground up pink slop but actually filet minion. Ya know the good kind, not the stuff made with glue.
Then ya continue. Patches come, patches go. Same with tournaments. Ya weather some. Then some bring you to the brink of giving up and moving on. Again you reach the point where you sit and think...maybe give a new idea or two a try. Then you find out more hidden menus. Maybe the next one has king salmon fresh from the mouth of a bear which cooks it and serves it at your table dressed in a chef outfit.
The trick is, ya never know till you try. Never know till you use that mush ball sitting on your shoulders.
1000 hours, yeah thats a lot. But its just a number you'll eventually forget. Its all the matches during that time, all the lobbies, which you'll remember. Terrifying Spires with the magically appearing Junker off the port side. Learning how to dogfight with airships and drawing spectators to your aerial duel. And then the ever glorious sending Zuka into a drunken laughing fit by making cat sounds.
Heres to the next 1000hrs!
