The Man Below the Ice, by Theodore Fair wind
(Skymonger, Lord's Leap is the capital of the Baronies, and the Raven is a symbol of them as well)
(Didn't know that. Guess i still need to learn about the factions.)
In the After war year of 1915 in the Age of Airships, The baronies had enacted several snow expeditions through what is now known as Finfeld.
Their purpose was to chart out moderately safe passages of flight to the borders of Anglea at Utentana city.
One such expedition evidently had lost their way in a snowstorm. Instead of heading west, they got sidetracked 200 miles northward and continued heading in that direction until they stopped near the present day city of Thula.
It was there that the Barons found it.
A Giant Mechanical Hand jutting itself out of a cliff.
Till that day, only Angleans had dug up ancient Engines and small sized Automatons in their frozen home yet here was a Giant mechanical hand the size of a small building in near perfect condition.
For obvious reasons, The Baron expedition attempted to hide their discovery from anyone until they were able to dig it out and see what the hand was attached to.
And they were able to successfully do so for Three months.
That is, until the publication of this newspaper column by Theodore Fair wind.
Being a recollection of his journey with the expedition, Theodore painted a bright target on the Baronite Excavation to the Angleans.
A small skirmish of words and threats ensued over the Half excavated Metal man for two years, but in the end, both sides gave up over trying to claim sole ownership. Anglea had the expertise to make ancient technologies work, and the Barons had the resources to continue the expedition so far from their homes.
To this day, the Town of Thula has a mix of Baronite and Anglean descent as the city is a treasure trove of lost technologies for both sides to enjoy.
