Hello and welcome!

If you're new here, you should stop by and say hello in the Introductions thread!

If you're new to the game or would like some tips and pointers, check out the Classroom forum!

If you have any questions, just look for one of our friendly Community Ambassadors, who will be happy to help!

Now on to the stern stuff...

Forum Rules

We hope you'll take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Community Standards, which apply to the game, forum, website, Steam group, and any other official community run by Muse Games.

In summary, the Community Standards prohibit the following behaviors:

  • Profanity/Obscenity
  • Harassment
  • Intolerance
  • Flaming/Trolling
  • Spam/Commercial posting
  • Cheating/Exploiting/Hacking
  • Violation of privacy
  • Impersonation

In order to maintain a pleasant and welcoming forum for high-quality discussion, members are also asked to observe the following additional rules when posting on the forums:

1. Be respectful.

This is covered in the Community Standards, but it’s worth reiterating: be nice. Disagreements should be handled in a polite and civil fashion. Personal attacks, flaming, and trolling will not be tolerated.

2. Be community-minded.

Guns of Icarus Online is only as good as its players, and it’s in everyone’s interest to help build a strong and skilled community. Be welcoming and encouraging to newcomers and those honestly seeking to learn and improve. Help your fellow players by being generous with your knowledge and assistance. Newbie-bashing will not be tolerated.

If you are looking for help, please direct your questions to the Help and Support or Classroom subforums, and take the initiative to learn what you can on your own before turning to others. Search first (search box in the upper right of the page!) to see if your question has been answered before.

3. Make an effort to communicate clearly.

We don’t expect flawless grammar and we recognize that not everyone is a native speaker, but everyone should make an effort to post in clear, legible, standard English in the main forums, and the target language in the International subforums. This means following basic rules of capitalization and punctuation and formatting posts legibly, including using paragraph breaks where appropriate. (This rule does not apply to the Lounge and Pit subforums.)

4. Keep threads relevant and on-topic.

There are designated areas for off-topic and casual conversation; please use them. In addition, please avoid discussing inflammatory or controversial topics (the usual suspects: religion, politics, etc.), as it rarely ends well. (This rule does not apply to the Pit subforum.)

5. Do not post unless you have something meaningful to say.

Posting just for the sake of posting, bumping old threads, posting just to say thanks, or content-free posts like “qft,” “lol,” or “agree” only add noise. Please don’t do it. (This rule does not apply to the Lounge and Pit subforums.)

6. Do not back-seat moderate.

If you see an objectionable post which you believe violates the Community Standards or the forum rules, please use the "Report to moderator" flag at the bottom of the post to flag it, and do not reply to or comment on it. Moderation matters such as flagging, thread closing, banning or other corrective measures should only be discussed via private message between the moderators and the parties involved, and are not open for public debate. Please bring any moderation concerns you may have to our attention at abuse@musegames.com or feedback@musegames.com.

Ok, that's it for the formalities. Welcome to the Guns of Icarus Online community, and thanks for helping to keep it a great one!
