Thanks again for a wonderful closed beta weekend! We’ll be having our 6th and last closed beta (pushed the open beta back, lots of changes need to be made first) starting on 7/20/12 so keep your eyes open for that! I’ve got a lot of important information for you here especially regarding those who pre-order and want to get into our last closed beta.
We had a lot of great feedback and there weren’t too many crazy bugs. Mostly just balance stuff that we can iterate on rapidly. One thing to note is that the display for health of ships is incorrect. That’s displaying ship armor (the top health bar that you can repair). The Junker actually has 800 HP compared to the Squid and Goldfish with 600 and 1000 respectively. One thing that made the Junker much much easier to kill now was an inclusion of an additional hull collider. Previously the Junker wouldn’t die it was impossible to hit its slim profile. I’ll go ahead and tweak this a little more.
We’ve known about the ramming issues last beta but were unable to rectify before the builds had to go out. We’re going to make velocity take ship mass into account as well as do something with the collision interaction and their damage type. Rest assured, it’s going to be pretty nice and will make sense.
Repair game is a phenomenal success. It’s easier to understand and it makes gameplay flow like a river of melted butter. Mmm.. butter. It’ll need some tweaking but it’ll get there!
For pre-order people… if you’re asking for a beta key please forward us your receipt as well. I personally do not have access to our sales database and it’s not easy to get to either. This way I don’t need to ask someone else to get the info to me, I will have it and can distribute if I’m near a computer. But the easiest thing to do is pre-order before 7/19/12.
I plan on emailing beta keys to pre-order customers on 7/19/12. Emails will be from eric@musegames.com and contain “Guns of Icarus Online:” in the subject line. Please check your spam folders if you are expecting a key. I use a bulk emailing service so if your spam filters are aggressive, that’s probably where your keys are going.
We can’t guarantee that you’ll get a beta key if you order after 7/19/12
