Youtubers bootcamp?
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:49:54 am »
So muse really likes getting youtubers to promote the game.

And it gives a poor impression because they all suck.
What if they had a period of time of intensive training by decorated veterans before being made to fight each other after that training period.

The series would be both a bunch of tutorials and entertainment.

With this people do go in knowing exactly how to play. Depending on scale it could be a knock out tourney or just a best out of 3 2 v 2.

I think this is a great idea, but I doubt you will find many prominent Youtubers willing to do it. It isn't because they are selfish or don't care, but because the time invested to revenue generated for a project like this is poor, and they need to do things like pay for recording equipment and eat, all the while maintaining the popularity of their channel. To do that they need to produce lots of interesting content fast. If you can find some way to make this sexy and sell and keep eyeballs fixed for the duration of the video you might find some willing, but odds are good if you try to make a deal imposing too much creative control folks will just walk away.

Or find a way to involve youtubers with the competitive scene, whether it be co casting a comp match, being in the crew of a competitive ship etc.

It's an undeniable truth that the PvP mode of this game is fundamentally very competitive, appealing to it's nature is the single best way to attract an audience that guarantees a sizable portion staying.

I didn't realize muse still had people advertising the game on YouTube.

I thought it was over back in 2014.

The Youtubers they target mostly right now are the goofballs, not the serious competitive gamers. They might go for it if they could broadcast bootcamp highlights in a musical montage of intensive training of people yelling at them how much they suck.

Now, if you want the serious competitive YTers to play you would have to do something different. They only do games they are good at and are intensely serious about. They will also only do games that are largely popular.... So, a catch 22 on that avenue.

So who essentially still plays GOI on YouTube and makes videos out of them?
I'm not finding any recent ones.

Muse should invest in steamers, not youtubers. The game needs to be shown from the good side which is high level play, not some noobs shooting carronade at hull and calling this gun crap on the video.

I agree, they should pay people at conventions with food.  8)

I can see this becoming a positive and beneficial campaign for all involved.

A con competitive scene is something I would want.

Plus many players are based in US.

I had a YouTuber on my ship once... Who was playing with audio off...
A shame because if he had audio off he may have been useful...

But yes, YouTubers who get paid to advertise the game should meet criteria..

No more bullshit crap JonTron fuck ups, I can't believe they paid him and that video was what he produced.

YouTubers used to have to earn a living, now they're getting too big for their boots and being dicks about it...

Thanks for being the voice of the vets, Ceres. I would shout at him too.
And I'm still not over that situation.

For a long while my friend, who loves watching jontron, had been telling me I needed to watch his video for GoIo. I finally got around to it and, wow. The only word I can really think of is Horrorshow. I have never gotten a player that behaved anything like he did. Is his behavior the norm for the bad new players I see people talking about?  Or do you think he was just doing that for extra giggles?
