Another MM rant (concerning 3v3)
« on: June 20, 2015, 10:29:13 am »
Hello,

I know I'm a bit late for the party but after the recent patch with underdog system and what-not MUSE also implemented a new kind of way to re-match. I like how the new re-match thing thinks it's helping to prevent stacked lobbies, and to some degree it does, but it also breaks up larger groups. And when playing alone that also means that finding and/or setting up a 3v3 has become a nigh impossibility, even more so with higher levels.

Having been completely and utterly bored with 2v2 and 4v4 is usually totally out of the question. I'm left with usually up to and over 60 minutes of time just searching for a game.

"Fun"

Breaking up teams speeds up the system because it has more crews to match up. I frequently play 3v3 and you can set it to search for 3v3.

Breaking up teams also enables the said crews to be matched in 2v2. Formerly after a 3v3 there was a good chance you'd still end up with people crewing 3 different ships, thus forcing a new 3v3 to form.

Search for 3v3 and MM will attempt to create one, or find an open one.

I wonder if there is a way to interperet anything that I've written in a way that would imply that I wouldn't have searched for a 3v3 through MM.

I have. A lot.

I feel your pain so much. I've argued this same point. Best thing you can do, annoy the hell out of Muse at firesides/etc. Everything right now is focused on the LCD of GOIO, 2v2 matches. Heck I've often gotten 4v4s more than 3v3s and what is worse, when I get 3v3s, usually its just 1 or 2 people that prevent me from staying in the 3v3 because they don't vote. Which throws you back into MM and forces you to sit forever to find another 3v3. Really tho, we need the ability to stay if we want to stay and leave it we want to leave. Not have it dictated by everyone else.

They are feeling the pressure somewhat. Week or two ago I heard them actually consider bringing back lobbies for low pop times.

An idea for you is to create a 3v3 lobby yourself, invite whoever, then open to matchmaking.  Usually it will fill fairly quickly unless you get stuck with a single captain slot empty or something like that.  Often, I get rematched into a clone of my last game as well, last night I had 5 consecutive matches with the same allies and enemies, none of which were actually voted rematch.

Creating lobbies is the best way, but you need 10 people to start a 3v3.
