Help The Captains: Spotting Mines
« on: April 10, 2015, 02:10:17 pm »
I suggest we be able to spot mines the same way we can spot ships. What could be the harm?

Lag. Unnecessary clutter. Can't see any massive downsides, but I also don't see the necessity.

I doubt 20 extra 2D text pixels per mine would cause much lag unless you found your computer in the dumpster of a thrift store 10 years ago.

The spotted mine's HUD doesn't have to be white like a ship's name HUD. It could be red, or green. Hell, a new item meant specifically for spotting mines would be very interesting.

Just because you can spot it easier, doesn't mean you'll be able to avoid it. It won't matter if you're good at mining.

We already suggested this one the Steam Discussions. Look there for every single reason.

A proximity detector would be better.

Mines beep when targets are close and speed up beeping until its a tone b4 it explodes. Has a psychological effect too, as it panics pilots because they hear a mine is near but not actually know precisely where.

problem? It might get annoying.

But the tinkle and zooming sound effect of gats and mortar are annoying to me too.

Mines aren't exactly what I called imbalanced towards the side of OP, so why a nerf?

If you really must, do what Payday does when marking enemies. Just glowing outline them. Cept in this case it would be allied mines.

Have an entire crew looking and pointing, saying..."MINE!"

BFS tooltip plz k thx!

but that way they will know it's an allied mine!

I spent an entire game convincing the other pilot it was the enemy's fault if the spawn was full of mines.
We went back to recrew after that game, the secret is still there.
