Spawns on Duel at Dawn

Spawns on Duel at Dawn are not really working.
Its really easy to rush spawns or even spawn camp, sometimes without want it to.

Taking into consideration that its such a small map, I really think the old spawn system was superior.

Comment bellow with your ideas please.

Well new spawns, people are able to spot before a goldfish pilot even reaches the helm.... dependant on clouds only....

I don't know the old spawns to compare, but it's very easy to judge where someone will be spawning in.

No clue on how to fix it, but I've been asking for D@D to be taken out of the SCS map rotation for a while now

Is there a good reason to not have spawns similar to all the other maps? Divide it down the middle (maybe diagonally) with spawns in corners and one in the middle

It would be cool if someone who has the old spawns in a screenshot could upload them here for people to review and discuss upon. I had the file but I replaced it when the new spawn came in. Guess I could put in the current spawn for reference...



So yeah calling people and clans who might have the file for the old spawns to put it here :)

I've wondered what took everyone so long to notice this. Also known as the SPQR strategy, you win the first engage and then camp and kill the enemy in their spawn. The removal of spawn choices was another brilliant change from the folks over in Eric land.

Yeah, the "Spawn in every corner" Type spawn choice was better.

I was complaining about it the second it was changed to what it is now. My complaints were ignored and instead of suggesting to Muse to change the spawns, people cry "spawn camp" (completely forgetting that it is a rather easy tactic to exect on a number of maps).

I don't agree in taking off rotation. At the moment its part of the game and there's few things we can do about it to change it.
Competitive wise its not good but the game its not only about competitive, even though I think competitive should have a lot more weight because its where the game its played to its fullest, but we all know that's not how stuff rolls.

I've been told that Muse only "fixes" something when there's a lot of requests/complains  to change it.

I agree Allien', the old spawn system when each corner being a spawn was much more interesting since it cut out the spawn-camping element in this.

I can see why this map would offend your delicate sensibilities.  It is not at all conducive to the Byron Cavendish strategy: hide in a corner and scream bloody murder about how the other team are all a bunch of campers.

Duel at Dawn has always been in a weird place. Originally it was a 1v1 map, but quickly converted into a 2v2; since the game isn't balanced or intended for 1v1 combat. The problem with this is that the map size never increased, and it remained being incredibly tiny. We also ended up with a few shared spawns all over the map, and people started complaining about ships being able to spawn directly back into combat. This was especially relevant on duel at dawn, where you would kill a ship, and shortly after it would spawn right next to you, kill you, and you would spawn right next to it shortly after that. It was for this reason the spawns were split on Duel Dawn to their respective sides; but of course with the incredibly small map size, it's stupid easy to spawn camp as can be seen by any team winning on Duel at Dawn. And this is the third or so time a thread has been created about this map and it's spawns specifically.


Changing the spawns back to all the corners wouldn't allow for spawn camping, but revert to the old problem of ships doing a conga line of respawns (mostly in pub matches). Realistically the map has to change in a big way. Such as literally making it larger, it was never designed for 2v2 combat.

What if each team had 2 spawns in opposite corners?
