They fight.

IRL, Sperm Whales and Giant Squids regularly fight to the death, but most of the time the Whale wins.

So, in a way, the Sky Kraken is the mini-boss to the Sky Whale's Final Boss.

I don't remember a boss being mentioned at the last fireside I went to. I did however ask if there were any unfound easter eggs, to which all the devs replied "yes, sky whales". So get hunting people. You probably have to super enhance a smudge on a piece of rubble in paritan or something like that.

Now that I think about it, this can contribute to the lore. It would explain why squids with flamers are so popular. The default build was originally modeled on the giant fire breathing krakens of the old days.
