Old Whitaker of the Burren was a strange fellow. He was a speed demon and a prankster. His bottle contained a vile liquid which could make vessels reach backbreaking speeds. The drink also had the unusual side effect of making drinks explosive... one drop in a mercs drink and the taverns plumbing will be put to the test.

A curious concoction of herbal supplements, Alcohol, hallucinogenic mushrooms, Apples, sugar, honey, and gunpowder shavings commonly found in chaladon. Strangely good for your skin and produces a warm feeling of happiness and dreams.
Side affects include: Loudness, incoherant screaming, uncontrollable dancing, Stripping, Violent brawls while smiling, and of copious amounts of sweat.

Usually used as a sarcastic remark about over-preparedness.  Weaponry, ammo, food, water, and everything else one might need to survive slung over one's body makes for an odd fashion statement... but it's popular in Anglea.

The Artisan's Special Order is a slang term used by engineers.  Typically it is used to refer to pretentious aristocrats who wish to extravagantly modify their airships, in the most impractical of ways.  An popular example involves a rich Fjord Baron wanting his entire ship coated in gold plating, even the balloon.  Needless to say, the term is used negatively.

An anti-personnel personal cannon used by certain Anglean shock troops.  A downsized Barking Dog is supremely effective at laying whole squads low with a storm of widespread, shotgun blasts of razor sharp projectiles.  Somewhat impractical, but the terror factor is not to be underestimated.

A tale told by small villages who don't know how the sunrise and sunset work, about a magical airshipman who can turn clouds into solid gold, but comes only at certain times.

A practice used by ancient gods called Players.  These Players would communicate with each other and their followers in a place called the Forum.  The most foul art of necromancy was used to reawaken old conversations long after they had died.

Commonly believed to be a mere novel about an unfortunate series of events happening to an anonymous accountant from the Merchant Guild, it is actually a very detailed encyclopaedia that treats in depth many aspects of the societies met by said accountant.
Currently is one of the most used books by the students of anthropology of the Guild universities.

An amusing, commonly told tale about three airmen, an empty keg, and their quest to fill it.
They ask a brewer to fill it, and he will if they get him a new tap.
They ask the blacksmith for a tap, and he'll hand it over if they get his bellows stitched up.
They ask a seamstress to fix it, and she will if they can get her wool.
They ask a farmer for the wool, and he'll give it to them if they can fix his tractor.
They ask the machinist to fix it, and he will if he can join their crew.
They ask the merchant to provide the extra supplies they'll need, and he'll do it if they can get a courier to run his package to Yesha.

And so on.  It changes with everyone who tells it, and seems to get longer every time.

While everybody believes, rightfully, that the Angleans are the greatest gun-nuts and craziest fighters in the known world, sometimes even the oft-meek Chaladonians manage to surprise the world.
The entire landmass of Chaladon is filled by multiple clusters of trees, that effectively keep a lot of soil under the cover of darkness 24/7.
Such a fact proved to be a problem for the Chaladoninas during the early meetings between the locals and outsiders, as many raiders and outlaws would come from the forests and approach even larger settlements under the cover of darkness.
To combat such a problem the Chaladonians, ever fond of the nature of The Nature, found a way to "weaponize" the trees.

First of all, there is the need to explain that the Chaladonian Willow is one of the biggest kind of trees found in the Island of Chaladon, and they are capable of holding on them even extremely heavy things, and hide them too. With this in mind, let's now explore the birth of the Whomping Willow.

The Chaladonian Defense Council thought about the weaponization in a rare moment of Nature induced enlightenment and chose the Salix Gigas Chaladonis as its main subject given the size of the tree. This project saw the usually peaceful Chaladonians creating big deadly weapons capable of taking down most airships of the beginning of the Age of Flight.
The heavy weapons platform would be placed upon the willow and hidden behind its leaves, the gunner  would then shoot with the overglorified Chaladonian version of a flak cannon and take down invading airships, or overkill any man stupid enough to engage on foot such a defence system.

In the early days of Flight, when airships were barely more than flying coffins, visibility was minimal and the design of most air vessels was the most utilitarian possible, so, when another wave of would-be air-pirates tried to reach Chaladon, the first victims of the Whomping Willow were completely oblivious of what hit them and simply made legends about the Fury of the Forest appear.

This knowledge is widespread to the outside world today for the fact that these AA defence systems are outdated and many ships, the Chaladonian own Squid in primis, can quickly outmanoeuvre the WWs.

A nice thing to note is that to this day remains as a tradition in Chaladon to gift a piece of willow root to someone you want to never see again, or even want to kill.
