What did you name your ship and why?

half my ships names are refrences.

squid - the enraged ducky.    gave it this name after joining the paddling

spire - Eye of Icarus.  this was actully the first ship i named after i got the game, i just thought it was a cool name. deffinatly better than the testicle of icarus.

pryamidion - Brave Vesperia.  50 points to whoever gets this refrence.

goldfish - Little jack
galleon - Delphinus     500 points to anyone who gets the refrence for these names
junker  - Claudia

Squid: The Dapper Cephalopod
Reason-Every one of my crew tends to wear a top hat, making the sky cephalopod quite the dapper individual

Spire: Shiver Me Tibbers
Reason-I wanted a Pirate-y name and I love Tibbers the bear, so it seemed appropriate

Pyramidion: USS Barak Obama
Reason-Gotta show that 'Merican pride somehow!

Goldfish: Goldie Shots
Reason-I believe I asked a friend for a name idea and this is what he came up with, stuck around ever since

Galleon: Daisy Dukes
Reason-There was a picture I saw last month in which a Galleon's balloon was outfitted with a bikini top

Junker: Hot For Teacher (or on certain occasions: Crash & Burn)
Reason-Its loaded with nothing but flamers, relies on pure engineer will power as it rams headlong into enemies and setting them ablaze, so I thought the pun would be nice

I've always liked the single-adjective names for ships.  So I picked the one adjective I admire most in others, and try to follow in myself.
It's also a reference to something else... That's all I'm going to say about that.

Goldfish - The Joyous Whippoorwill (Shortened to TheJoyousWhippoorwil after patch)
The whippoorwill is a bird which shouts its name.  In H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", it is said when a man dies and their soul is cast away, the whippoorwills try to catch it.  If they do, they sing with joy.  If they don't, they slink back, sad.

Junker - Flighted Wahrk
Named after my favorite sea creature in the Myst series due to its similarity in shape and shark related name.  It makes an appearance in Riven.

My other ship names after these tend to change now and then.

Galleon - Stolen Star
I just liked the imagery and concept.

Pyrmidion - Sharptooth (Sometimes Umbrellamouth)
Sharptooth, cause it has such a pointy front end.  Umbrellamouth because the Umbrella Mouthed Gulper Eel my favorite deep sea animal, and the Pyrmidion's shape reminds me of its head.

Squid - Hatchetfish
Just a smallish cool scary deep sea fish

Spire - Skyward Fist
Sounds cool and it kinda looks like one.

Junkers are pretty damn ugly, aren't they?

Pyramidion: Duck Pharoah

It's a pyramid, and pharoahs are buried in pyramids. Makes sense.

Galleon: Steel Drake

A drake is a male duck

Goldfish: Aquaduckt

Yeah, a bit silly

Squid: Aerodynamic Duck

Squids are fast and sleek, so I thought this was fitting

I haven't renamed my Spire yet.

Currently my only ship is the Poop Deck Pricker, a Pyramidion that enjoys pricking poop decks.  It's pretty great for a new captain like myself, though I'll have to give it up and fly a Goldfish to get that damn achievement.
