Rammed Off Guns
« on: June 19, 2013, 10:46:27 am »
I think it would be interesting to see after getting rammed, a mechanic that caused players on the guns/helm to get knocked out of them. It would be easy to get back on, more of a realistic inconvenience. It off course would have to be a sizeable impact, not a gentle bounce off of a canyon.

This would affect the rammer too, of course.

It would be even more interesting if it pushed the players in the direction of the team a few steps, maybe even knocking players off the ship of they're close to the edge. That might be pushing it though.

What do yall think? Would this be difficult to implement? Think it might cause grief?

This looks good to me. It's realistic and could add some more depth to the gameplay, especially the pyramidion. I like it!

It would make ramming not only a damage dealer, but a way to save an ally or gain a few valuable seconds.

It already is. You can ram an enemy's guns off target if you do it right.

True, unless they have Moonshine.

Also true. Most ships seem to use kerosene however, so it's fine most of the time.

could be interesting, but if you want it realistic, then the pilot should be rammed of the wheel, and the engineer away from the hull. fun times.

Maybe the brace for impact pilot tool could counter or even just cancel this suggested effect

Just to point out, knocking the pilot off the helm would be a significant Goldfish nerf. If you fall off the Galleon helm you just get back on, if you fall off the Goldfish helm you fall down to the bottom deck, it's a long walk back.

I like that. Makes Impact Bumpers more crucial.

The ram doesn't have to push them very far, just off of their spot so that they have to jump back on. If the ram did push, it would have to be a significant impact to smack the pilot off of that top deck.

If you fall off a squid's helm, you fall off the damn ship. Those safety rails aren't fooling anyone.

With the risk of sounding silly, I will say, I don't believe the Pyra needs more buffs to its ramming ability and getting knocked off guns and helm will be frustrating, especialy for gunners if it happens just when they finish reloading and their ammo gets reset due to that. With all due respect, I don't think this function belongs in this game.
