For a one "flag" king of the hill i think also like mentioned it could become a bit hectic but for several "flags" it could be interesting with 2vs2vs2 because the capturing itself would be more essential and any could get the upper hand with like 4 flags the battles would also take place in between the flags not just defending and camping them. The big ships would be sitting ducks and the low armoured fast ships would be at risk while the average armoured ones would be a balance of both.

Something to think about and i would love to hear muse input on this. Maybe it isn't a good option for one flag or deathmatch but it would open a door to teamworking for flagcaptures and they wouldn't be that easily stacked imho, because if 4 defend one point together the other two might just take the other flags.

Been playing some Chivalry DW, and they have incorporated multiple teams death matches. Usually rounds start up by the teams grouping up and "wolf packing" it, usually trying to be the clean up crew after another two teams engaged. Seen it a lot, two large groups battle it out and the third clears through them. Now, those are larger teams of single individuals, so there is a good chance that it will work very differently with the smaller fleets. Though I will keep to my opinion that the start of the game (at least DM) will be a sitzkrieg to see which team will initiate first. Other then that, would be interesting to see.

I've seen it work in fps of 4 species.

But it won't necessarily work for goi so it needs testing. I believe in friday's fireside they said they will look into it.
So who knows? :P

it could be hard to balance.

I think the only way a 1v1v1 would work is to make it a base 1v1 with optional extra ships up to 6, as well as make it open-ended practice only. I would really go for that, since too many highly skilled teams are ending up using pubstomps for 'practice' for the tournaments. And it would allow for single ship on ship grudge matches with no stat penalties.

Let's face it, the practice map/match is boring and next to useless for actual higher skill practice, and this would be a much needed upgrade.

Well you know 3v3v3 is like 4v4 + 1, and 2v2v2 IS the same size as 3v3. Lag ain't the problem. In fact I see no problems at all!

Definitely doable!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was the excessive formatting really that necessary? Still I guess the point still stands this would be a fun thing to see in game.

I agree with thomas 100% there is to many variables that would make that..... to much trouble in keeping the game mode fair... because I know players who would have a disagreement with another captain in a lobby and just stack teams to "bully" them out of actually making that a 2 v 2 v 2 and it would be right back to.... 2 v 2

every triangle war ends in fighting two teams the weakest one for the kills.
the only competitive part about this is racing who can kill the weak ones faster...boooring
keep the symmetrical fights.

If that would be an issue, could it be fixed?

- spawnpoints accordingly to how you are doing in the match, weaker ships spawn safely, stronger ships spawn more dangerously
- balance ship attacks so you don't always attack the same colour?

idk if 2vs2vs2 would actually be too bad, because why would 2 teams bunch up on one for kills when 1 team against 2 would have more kills to offer?
Anything can happen in a game. worth at least a test to see if there's actually any point in it. maybe it should be the only gamemode with ship scramble after each round?
More of a skirmish TDM than a competitive match.
