Imagine Kraken-Minotaur pair on a Galleon... With couple good shots...

Pyramidion was charging into a Galleon.
Galleon Captain cries, "Ready on the starboard side! Kraken fire on the back end, Minotaur fire on the front end!"
The Kraken harpoon catches the Pyramidion on the engines. The Minotaur begins nudging the Pyramidion.
Pyramidion gunner screams in shock, "Captain, give me arc, give me arc, gun, bloody, arc!"
The Pyramidion captain instinctively pulls out the phoenix claw. The ship hilariously turns around. The Pyramidion is facing away from the Galleon, slowly pulled in to the maw of the Kraken...

No, but I'd like to mention the Prometheus once more.

Revisiting this monstrous beauty, I have abandoned the idea of it having close range impact damage. It is just not a feasible combat option. The only ship that could realistically use it would be the Spire. All other ships have a giant balloon that gets in the way of most rams.

So, the gun has evolved into sort of a reverse Minotaur. There would be no reeling function to speak of. As soon as each harpoon hit, it would instantly give a hard pull and deal damage. No rope duration. This would draw an enemy ship slowly towards you while dealing a nice amount of damage.

Not to abandon the close range aspect, a option would be to replace the impact aspect with a flame thrower on right click. Heavy harpoon flamethrower? Yes please!

If that is not an Arashi heavy gun, I don't know what is.

I actually like the idea of a heavy harpoon gun that has a close weapon on it like a flamer as a secondary for its right click. makes the weapon more versatile as i find the light harpoon gun next to useless and could not imagine a bigger one being much better.

Richard, Didn't you say you were moving away from the grinder idea, due to implementation issues?

Thought you said you were changing it to tick damage for the pull.

All of the yes to a heavy "shotgun" harpoon launcher.

This needs to be on me galleon broadside.

I'd say left click fires single harpoon, right click fires the remaining clip in a volley with a spread.  They connect and reel automatically.

I'm already loving the new poon on my galleon, but this would be amazing.

Looking at the design of most of the ships, and the issue with visibility past the drill cone, I started working on a new design.

The new design changes out the drill for twin salvaged jet engines. This changes the Kraken to a Flamethrower Harpoon. Two heavy gun longtime wishes in one!

This is the base concept. I have not modeled the jets or harpoons yet, so am using some assets off the web as stand-ins. The mechanics have changed some as well. The jets are used to stabilize your own ship while the harpoon cables engage with a flywheel winch built into the jets and rip them back out of the target. This gives a sharp tug, similar to the Minotaur, but opposite and weaker. This allows you to yank enemy ships closer to the close range flaming exhaust of the jets, which set lots of fires and do fire damage.

So the flamethrower only shoots if the harpoons land? Sounds good with me.  Maybe the only jet engine that fires is the one whose harpoon hits the ship, or The more harpoons land, the more powerful the flame blast. That would balance it out a bit. That would give a skill floor to balance making this gun potentially too powerful.

Also this should be a thing now because the judgement is here, and now we have three ships with front-facing heavy guns and no CQC heavy gun aside from the hwacha.

A CQC piercing/fire heavy gun would be cool. I love the idea. Kracken is a great name, too.
