-When the Spire gets damaged to a certain point, the bottom part of the ship should break off, reducing the ships vertical profile and increasing its speed due to lost weight, allowing it to escape.

Only if the point embeds itself in the ground and serves as a permanent tomb stone of the fallen spire.

It has been repeatedly brought up that the spire's pointy thing could be a sword of Damocles, hanging above for a chute vent goomba stomp.

This got nixed because there's no use for it. But think for just a second. It doesn't need to hit only while going down. Make it into a keel blade-like device, where you can hydrogen juke a ramming pyramidion just enough to let the bottom bit of that spire just smash through the enemy ship.

That would add an entirely different dimension to fighting a spire. You not only have to worry about the tri/quadrafecta of guns, but also beware getting counter-rammed (or even rammed muahahaha) by it.

It makes sense too, the spire is the only ship that looks like it is made completely out of metal. It should be stronger than it is, and could definitely use the point for offense.

We could get to the point about killing our enemies more quickly also! It's so very pointy.

If they ever implement point-of-impact damage multipliers based on location (and get rid of the too-heavy Pyra), this would be a good improvement.

Agree with Richard. I don't feel like the spire needs a whole lot to balance it with other ships, but I do still feel like the pyra ram is still too much. Make the pyra a touch lighter and add point - of - impact multipliers for the front edge extending bellow the heavy weapon and you could have a plausible solution.

Or it could make the carronade spire ridiculously over-powered.

What if there were a cluster of bombs attached around the bottom of the spike? Instead of a crows nest there would be a bombardier bay. Maybe even have a crew member manually release the bombs by smacking it with a hammer. Spires could counter rams by rising above and dropping some bombs.

the spire doesn't need a crows nest but an phoenix nest. The birdy could feed on incoming hades shots, get its tummy stuffed while protecting its host from harm. Good synergy.
