The Spire has had never ending balance discussions, but the real issues are right here.
-The Spire needs a crows nest. if the Spire is going to be this tall, you should allow us to use that height, to climb all the way to the top of the balloon to spot enemies and use our.. range finders.
-CHUTE VENT RAM. The point on the bottom of the Spire should actually function as the vertical pyramidion i imagine it to be.
-The space where the balloon used to be is a great spot for the cage to put naughty insubordinate crew members in, but it could also be used for a ladder up to the crows nest.
-I even mentioned the crows nest once or twice when playing with Bubbles. I thought he loved the Spire more than his firstborn child.
-Acceleration, because it's fun (and balance).
-Exclusive heavy weapon, a cannon that shoots glass.
-Whenever Clan Clan flies a Spire, we seem to do best with little to no permanent hull left. Please remove most of the Spires permanent hull.
-When the Spire gets damaged to a certain point, the bottom part of the ship should break off, reducing the ships vertical profile and increasing its speed due to lost weight, allowing it to escape.
-Decal that paints the balloon as a bright red bullseye.
-
A 5th gun slot that puts an auto firing mine launcher directly in front of the spire.
This both prevents pyramidion rams and enables a self removal of permanent hull, this works in conjunction with the low perma point mentioned above.
Also a buff to turning speed so that the spire can spin as fast as a drill, this, in tandem with the point on the bottom will allow you to make your own hard cover by drilling into the floor.
Also make it magnetic so the globs of molten metal from a hades are even more likely to hit.
But in seriousness, it's been said before but more armour, more acceleration. 8)

This thread is almost Pit worthy.
The idea of a crows nest at the top of the Spire has some merit to it. Changes to the acceleration of the Spire may also be of use. The rest of the comments made in the OP are just stupid.

Thank you for your assessment of my post. Very useful.

This is actually an interesting idea.

I suddenly just thought of the Spire as a giant pogo stick :D

I believe the chute vent ram is metioned in there somewhere too.
This thread is almost definitely Pit worthy. [...]
Fixed it for you.

Oops. My mistake. Thanks for that.

Put a small gun on top of the balloon with the crow's nest, and I am sold.
Also, exclusive AI for the Spire: Raptors.
-
I approve of the raptor idea.
-
A 5th gun placed at the bottom of the spire facing 90o downwards so you can shoot the enemy while vertically ramming him. Bonus damage from the nauseous gunner's puke.
-
Make it shorter. The spire is a combination of super easy target as vertical aiming is generally the hardest thing to aim and no armor. Get rid of the useless bits and suddenly its viable.
-
New engineer tool added, only usable on Spires. Grants 500% armor bonus for 10 seconds....called...Duct Tape!

It would just be the perfect spot for a beacon flare. I never want to give up one of my guns for one of those on the spire.

Only if the point embeds itself in the ground and serves as a permanent tomb stone of the fallen spire.

It has been repeatedly brought up that the spire's pointy thing could be a sword of Damocles, hanging above for a chute vent goomba stomp.
This got nixed because there's no use for it. But think for just a second. It doesn't need to hit only while going down. Make it into a keel blade-like device, where you can hydrogen juke a ramming pyramidion just enough to let the bottom bit of that spire just smash through the enemy ship.
That would add an entirely different dimension to fighting a spire. You not only have to worry about the tri/quadrafecta of guns, but also beware getting counter-rammed (or even rammed muahahaha) by it.

It makes sense too, the spire is the only ship that looks like it is made completely out of metal. It should be stronger than it is, and could definitely use the point for offense.
-
We could get to the point about killing our enemies more quickly also! It's so very pointy.
-
If they ever implement point-of-impact damage multipliers based on location (and get rid of the too-heavy Pyra), this would be a good improvement.
-
Agree with Richard. I don't feel like the spire needs a whole lot to balance it with other ships, but I do still feel like the pyra ram is still too much. Make the pyra a touch lighter and add point - of - impact multipliers for the front edge extending bellow the heavy weapon and you could have a plausible solution.
Or it could make the carronade spire ridiculously over-powered.
-
What if there were a cluster of bombs attached around the bottom of the spike? Instead of a crows nest there would be a bombardier bay. Maybe even have a crew member manually release the bombs by smacking it with a hammer. Spires could counter rams by rising above and dropping some bombs.
-
the spire doesn't need a crows nest but an phoenix nest. The birdy could feed on incoming hades shots, get its tummy stuffed while protecting its host from harm. Good synergy.
