New Light weapon
« on: July 18, 2013, 10:17:43 am »
Flash bang grenade! It would create a flash of bright white light that would take up the whole screen for a few secs. Pilots could use it as a escape tool to get out of harry situations or use it to blind a enemy ship before going on the attack.

You know what... never mind...This might be a very annoying weapon. Can you imagine trying to repair the hull armor when all of a sudden your screen turns a blinding bright white?

It's great defense, and great offense.
I like.

I agree with the OP's second point. I've always hated flashbangs in any game.

Well you should still be able to make out large objects like a hull near you, but white would also make gunners lose their crosshairs, as well as the obvious annoyance of the bang.

I could see it.

We could use more utility, so why not?

That actually sounds good. It probably good just raise the gamma as an effect to a much higher number and stop the players from hearing any sounds for the next...let's say...5-10 seconds?

Like that idea!

But the UI graphic that shows me that I'm correctly aiming at a component to repair it is also white.  ???

Right, that would be part of the point :)

But my point is that it would be really annoying. Isn't this game full of enough frustrations? This would drive it over the edge. You all must be masochistic.

Well, the idea is cool, but as a gunner I'd hate everyone who used them against me.
Still, if we could act normally, but not see, it'd be awesome addition in my humble opinion. I'd make aiming it properly a hard biscuit, though. You'd need to land it nicely to have any effect, otherwise it'd just be fancy fireworks.

Or it'd be a quality of Lochnagar flares, where the sheer strength of it would work as a flashbang.

Btw, didn't we have this suggestion somewhere already? :o

What if we make this a new pilot tool instead of a new weapon?
